    Great to have you back, slick. I'm glad you're enjoying this piece, and most importantly, it hasn't given you any issues. That's been the problem with a lot of the new processors that have come out this year: bugs galore. That's another advantage of these older models. You'll get them much cheaper if you don't need 16ch processing, and they are quite stable. They work, and they work consistently without fail. I'm still running my Audiocontrol Maestro M5 (processor variant of your AVR, Arcam rebadge) in a secondary system, as it's been so solid, and I think I'll probably keep that one permanently.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад

      Yeah, the more features these new receivers and processors add, the more issues seem to pop up. Pretty much why I like the more simple options, especially since I’m only currently using 4 channels. Haha
      Thank you for sticking around, my friend!

    Keep in mind that per federal law all amplifiers have to be rated 20hz-20000khz 2ch driven at 8ohms, Denon and Marantz have a 70% guarantee that you'll at least be getting 70% of that stereo power ratting when all channels are being driven, Gene at Audioholics has confirmed this guarantee when he measured the Marantz SR8015, it put our 100 watts 7 channels driven and is ratted at 140watts 2ch driven.

  • @donalddeorio2237

    After Covid, no need to explain. Saw the comparison of the Marantz and the lexicon. Glad you enjoyed the time off. I have the Marantz AV7005 and I have been loving mine. Have it it paired with a Carver AV 705x amplifier, great pairing. Truth be told most people don't use all the functionality of these modern receivers and pre-amps.

    Welcome back. I think this a solid deal but I think the fact that Onkyo is offering Dirac in a more easy to use format (no need for computer) and for cheaper kills this sort of product. Yeah it won't be as high end but $500 is a decent savings are pretty substantial assuming you can get one. I think I'll be waiting out for the RZ70 which is supposed to have Dirac Live Bass Control and Auro3d.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад +1

      Onkyo adding Dirac Live is going to be a game changer! I also like the fact that they are making it a little easier to navigate/setup, vs. this Lexicon.
      I think I might give Anthem a try next but hopefully not for at least a couple years. Haha
      Thanks for the continued support, Tyler!

      Onkyo is no comparison. Is up there with Denon and Marantz but can’t compare sound wise to and Arcam, lexicon and AudioControl which are all the same just different body.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад

      @@Laissez_Faire Yeah, totally different price points between Onkyo and brands like AudioControl, Arcam, Lexicon etc.
      I’m always trying new gear, even if it means stepping back a step or two. I’m interested in hearing from new Onkyo owners though as I think this Dirac Live move will definitely make a dent in Marantz and Denon’s sales.
      AudioControl is my current end-game processor/amplifier gear. Now if I could only afford it. Haha
      They are here local to me, which I also like.

      @@blazermdx oh that’s right AudioControl is up there. I got the AudioControl concert avr9 with the class H amplification and I love it. I was able to get it for 1500 on eBay. For some reason people just don’t know the brand so I was the only bidder. Got lucky

    • @TylerStout
      @TylerStout 3 года назад

      @@Laissez_Faire definitely agree but in my opinion the room correction is what makes or breaks an avr as while amplifiers and DACs do matter they don't matter as much so being able to get one of the best room correction suites for third the price is a pretty compelling product. It's also not like you need to use the internal amps that are obviously worse as you can probably get better ones with all the money you're saving. At $1500 I'd agree you're better off with the lexicon for only $100 more.

    Here you are finally. Glad to see your review. I saw your other video 6months ago and got motivated to buy this product for my basement home theater. I got lucky in finding one of the RV-6 for 2000$ including tax brand new. I agree 100% with your review. I had exact same experience with finding help to setup this AVR. Over all a fantastic product at 2000$ price. It is driving 5 channels of my 7 series bowers and Wilkins 704S2 towers and matching center channel effortlessly in my 7.2.4 setup. Rest of the channels (surround back and Atmos) are driven by an outlaw 7channnel amp. Have to say 4k video processing is excellent too connected to NX5 projector. Over all an excellent AVR. Thanks for inspiring me to buy this brand.

    Best decision I've made to date was returning the Denon 6500 (£2,000) and paying the extra for the arcam avr20 (£2800 open box) never mind after three separate auditions, I finally managed to find an AVR that can not only get the best of the my high-end sonus Faber speakers, but when listening to movies and the sound Dynamics change... no more having to reach for the remote control! 🥳
    (And to think that's before Direct was implemented)

    Lexicon is very well known in professional studio engineering and cinema surround processor applications. Good hardware... .this model is probably entry level for them, given its lack of balanced XLR inputs/outputs. For reference, the Lexicon MC-12 surround processor when it came out was around $12,000. It sounds like Lexicon is going downstream a bit and that's probably a good thing... pro audio sounds expensive until you realize what you're getting compared to audiophile (read: consumers with more money than knowledge) hardware..

    How does the Lexicon compare to the Denon 4800h? Do you think it’s still worth it for a good price on the secondhand market? Like under a 1000$ (1000€ where I come from)? Does it have Dirac live full bandwidth?
    Keep it up👍 Greetings from Germany

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  9 месяцев назад

      To be totally honest, I never should have sold the Lexicon. I just loved the simplicity, build quality and the sound.
      The Denon absolutely smokes the Lexicon with features and ease of use but I still prefer the Lexicon. There’s much less of a learning curve with the Denon though, so it really depends on if you like tinkering and getting your hands dirty.

    How does the Lexicon RV-9 compare with the Arcam ARCAVR30AM?

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  2 года назад

      From everything I’ve read, they’re nearly identical. It’s hard to really know how similar they are as Lexicon keeps their cards close to their vest.
      When I was researching and cross shopping Arcam and Lexicon, most reviews and forums seem to thrill they are more similar than different.
      If I were in the market again, I’d probably go with the brand that had the best sale, but I’m kind of cheap. Haha

    Everyone makes such a big deal about 8k. Why, mainstream content won't be available for years. And 4k/120, if you're not a gamer, who cares.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  2 года назад

      Yeah, there’s really no 8k content, so I’m quite content with this RV-6.
      I still have a Xbox One so I don’t even have a need for 4K/120hz. One day, I plan on upgrading to the “new” Xbox but I’ll cross that bridge, when I get there.
      I find it crazy that people are dropping surge huge amounts of money on 8K TV’s and receivers. I’m willing to wait for the 8K content to catch up, before I take the plunge

    Lexicon mc10 or rv6 which one best?

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад +2

      The MC10 is a beastly processor and this is Lexicon’s “entry” receiver so the MC10 is a couple steps up on the RV-6, of you don’t need internal amplifiers.
      It really comes down to your budget as Processors with dedicated amps is end-game type of gear. I think you would be pleased with the quality and sound of both though.
