- This is some video I just took at the Valley of Fire atlatl competition in Nevada on March 27th thru the 29th, 2009. Scenes of petroglyphs, atlatls in action, nature scenes, and other cool stuff!

Hauntingly beautiful!! Must be amazing to be that close to something so ancient; I wonder what the people who carved these images were thinking at the time... makes one think.

Jimmy, it is a fantastic place. You should try to make it out there next year, we do some knappng also and Tom provides atlatls and darts for anyone who needs em....jim
@oldmanben100 Its held yearly at Valley of Fire State Park 1 hour north of Las Vegas, Nevada. I think it is the 3rd weekend in March but many folks show up early. It is open to anyone and participants camp free at the group campsites. Great fun, I highly reccomend it and plan to attend next years event....jim

I think Paleoaleo may have a video on making one, not sure though, but I know he has one on making darts. Check out the Paleoplanet forum Atlatl section, there are many folks on there who can help you out....

Thanks. I live about an hour west of the Valley of Fire now. Logandale and Overton are cool areas to explore, beautiful desert!
