- On September 14, 2022, Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina toppled an epic MLB record, surpassing Mickey Lolich and Bill Freehan’s 324 starts as a battery.
Hear untold stories about the adversities and triumphs which lead to baseball greatness. Family, teammates, staff, broadcasters, and alumni reveal what makes this pair great, shedding light on an incredible achievement in Cardinals and baseball history.
Yadi and Waino’s journey to 325 was storied and improbable, forged through the longevity and loyalty of two franchise icons. The pair finished with 328 starts, meaning no duo is likely to catch them in this modern era of free agency.
Yadi will be missed. The bond Yadi and Waino shared is unmatched.
True 👍
I started working for the Cardinals as an usher in 2018 and this is something I got to experience not only as an employee, but as a die-hard Cardinals fan. I’m a lucky guy to have gotten to experience The Cardinal Way.
I'm a Braves fan but will always respect these two and the Cardinals as a class organization.
How can you not be romantic about baseball.
It really hasn’t sunk in yet..no more Yadi…damn. It’s going to take awhile probably.😢
Yeah, this is gonna take some getting use to
Or Pujols 😞
About time they gave up
This was very nicely done, thank you for putting this together
It will be hard/different to watch Waino walk out of the bullpen with someone other then Yadi 😭😭❤❤
It truly is gonna be tough to not have Yadi back next season.. the most fun ever was watching them play catch my entire life.
Amazing Video. I knew after the first 10 seconds i was gonna get emotional. Overcome with pride knowing these 2 men represented my Cardinsls!!! Go Cards!!
I. CAN" T STOP CRYING as a Cardinal fan since 1966. Due to me moving to 1965 as a 3 year old. Lou Brock, etc.,
two of the greatest ever to play the game
Really enjoyed the video 👌
The GREATEST duo in baseball history. #12in23
HAVE FAITH!! 🙏🙏🙏
LET'S GO REDBIRDS!!!!! #12in23
Te amo, Yadi! Love you, Waino! Gonna miss seeing the 2 of you together this season. There will never be another battery as amazing as Wainwright/Molina.
Bob Gibson And Tim McCarver were light years ahead of Waino ,and Yadi Waino always had a hard time winning when you really needed him. Gibson was a monster..the best
Every Cardinal fan is going to miss Yadier Molina next stop Cooperstown
You hot that right. There is no one I mean no one like Yadi and Adam and it has been a great privilege to watch them play and work together.
This 2023 season will be hard without the best battery of the 21st century. The first games will be hard but hopefully this new chapter in the Cardinals history will brings us as much joy as these two magnificent hard working guys did for the last 2 decades. ❤
I ran out of kleenex ~ OMGosh - this is phenomenal! What memories we Cardinals fans have been given. 2023 will be so strange - No Yadi with Waino?!!! The thought is so surreal.
For me since '67.....sounds corny but it gives me chills.
Boo hoo they sucked just like the whole card team
Going to miss these two so much ❤
2 class acts. Yadi I'm s one one the most respected Cardinals of all time.
Can’t imagine Yadi not playing this year😢
Unbelievable and I got a little emotional Watching this. I was a Cardinal fan from birth and always will be. I am 38 years old and it was definitely an honor to watch these guys play.
Dawgs!!! I hope HOF in the same year.
this is a nice video thanks for making this
I must add this comment with all due respect to everyone. Loyalty goes a long way. Money is just that. But these fellas were not after a buck. They wanted something more… a Legacy….The Loyalty worked. Look at this Legacy, Look at this Brotherhood. And I’m a Die Hard New York Yankees fan. I am so Honored to see The Mexican flag alongside The Puerto Rican flag. It gives me goose bumps.
Amazing video!!!
1000% could’ve done without Stan McNeal bumbling through this.
Adam has 400 starts and 328 of them are with Yadier Molina. 😮😮..
Thats SO COOL!!
I've been dreading watching this. I haven't been in the headspace to watch it knowing how emotional it would be. Cardinals baseball will never be the same. Glad I finally threw it on. Amazing video. Glad we have one more run with Waino.
Awesome stuff.
Wow just wow
No battery will ever eclipse 328!!! EVER!!!
Shoutout to the guy talking at 4:40. Knows what he’s talking about!!!
This is such a fantastic story and this video touches my heart in a way I did not expect. Thank you!
This was interesting, but the music was painful.
I went to this game
Me too, was amazing to be there!
It was awesome how they had yellich take the first pitch
I'm gonna miss them both so, so much.
Yep just like i miss hemmeroids
This guy is pretty good
I have the rally towel
I am from the same town as the Molinas, I’ve been on the field that Don Molina( The Father of these 3 players) built with his own hands. And I had the blessing of meeting Benji on the field. Very humble people. I took a few pictures. And he thanked us for visiting the park. This Stadium is beautiful. Gracias Familia Molina.
It's crazy enough that they managed to break the record by a little bit, but if Wainwright had stayed healthy, they could have crossed 400 easily (25 starts × 16 seasons, or 28+ starts × 14 seasons) and pushed future contenders even further out of reach of the record.
I'm so glad Adam accomplished all that he has. I'm from St. Simons Island Georgia and 42 so Adam and I went through school together.(I'm pretty sure we had cub scouts together as well lol) I can't say we were best friends or anything as we were in different social groups but I do always remember him being a really nice guy. It was a delight to follow his career through the years and see him not only have a long career but a long and incredibly successful career. Back in 1st grade in the cub scout pine wood derby I never would have imagined that he would accomplish all that he did. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and I'm genuinely happy for him.
P.s. Proud of Kwame too. He was always a nice guy as well. His career wasn't as storied as Adam's but Kwame was always a nice guy and I remember him being a good person so I'm proud as hell to have known both of them.
Not how many homeruns you hit how many smiles you make is badeball
Way-Mo.
Easy. Best Battery Ever. Market that. Trademark it.
The Cardinals need to sign Trevor Bauer
