  • On September 14, 2022, Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina toppled an epic MLB record, surpassing Mickey Lolich and Bill Freehan’s 324 starts as a battery.
Hear untold stories about the adversities and triumphs which lead to baseball greatness. Family, teammates, staff, broadcasters, and alumni reveal what makes this pair great, shedding light on an incredible achievement in Cardinals and baseball history.
Yadi and Waino’s journey to 325 was storied and improbable, forged through the longevity and loyalty of two franchise icons. The pair finished with 328 starts, meaning no duo is likely to catch them in this modern era of free agency.

Yadi will be missed. The bond Yadi and Waino shared is unmatched.

I started working for the Cardinals as an usher in 2018 and this is something I got to experience not only as an employee, but as a die-hard Cardinals fan. I’m a lucky guy to have gotten to experience The Cardinal Way.

This 2023 season will be hard without the best battery of the 21st century. The first games will be hard but hopefully this new chapter in the Cardinals history will brings us as much joy as these two magnificent hard working guys did for the last 2 decades. ❤

I must add this comment with all due respect to everyone. Loyalty goes a long way. Money is just that. But these fellas were not after a buck. They wanted something more… a Legacy….The Loyalty worked. Look at this Legacy, Look at this Brotherhood. And I’m a Die Hard New York Yankees fan. I am so Honored to see The Mexican flag alongside The Puerto Rican flag. It gives me goose bumps.

I am from the same town as the Molinas, I’ve been on the field that Don Molina( The Father of these 3 players) built with his own hands. And I had the blessing of meeting Benji on the field. Very humble people. I took a few pictures. And he thanked us for visiting the park. This Stadium is beautiful. Gracias Familia Molina.

It's crazy enough that they managed to break the record by a little bit, but if Wainwright had stayed healthy, they could have crossed 400 easily (25 starts × 16 seasons, or 28+ starts × 14 seasons) and pushed future contenders even further out of reach of the record.

I'm so glad Adam accomplished all that he has. I'm from St. Simons Island Georgia and 42 so Adam and I went through school together.(I'm pretty sure we had cub scouts together as well lol) I can't say we were best friends or anything as we were in different social groups but I do always remember him being a really nice guy. It was a delight to follow his career through the years and see him not only have a long career but a long and incredibly successful career. Back in 1st grade in the cub scout pine wood derby I never would have imagined that he would accomplish all that he did. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and I'm genuinely happy for him.
P.s. Proud of Kwame too. He was always a nice guy as well. His career wasn't as storied as Adam's but Kwame was always a nice guy and I remember him being a good person so I'm proud as hell to have known both of them.
