    What I love most about these interviews is, you get to really know their view point on how they think and feel. Allot of intelligence, a genius actually by writing lyrics and music at such a young age. And I can tell you he is not stuck up in any way, and did not let fame get to his head. My Aunt Evelyn had been to an orchestra/opera and dressed in a ball gown with her date and after went to The Peabody in Memphis. Billy had a concert there in Memphis too and stayed at The Peabody he came down stairs and sat across from them on a couch. Introduced himself and talked to them. How cool is that!!

    The more interviews I watch of him the kinder and more intelligent he becomes. I saw him perform the other night and he impressed the hell out of me. I love punk and his description of it in this video is perfection.

      He's someone who knows it's best to leave the wild rocker persona onstage where it belongs. No one can live that way 24/7. Jim Morrison did that and it ended up killing him.

    @sclapione The X Generation were those born in the 1960's and up to mid 1970's. Billy Idol's music was popular at this generations teen years, so yeah, Billy Idol's music was the most popular during Gen X teen years and thus he is a hero of Generation X. The year he was born is irrelevant.

    Agree with You. Punkbands in Germany dissolved or developed like Mufti from Abwaerts founded " EinstuerZende Neubauten ", La Loora disappeared,
    "Toten Hosen" survived quite well, my brother emptied some beerboxes in garage gigs with them :), violence not that I know of.🙏🏽

    one thing i noticed is the "droopy eyes"...his eyes give the impression of being either on heroin, or he's stoned on weed...but, his speech is more coherent than a heroin user who's high would talk... he's on SOMETHING though, his eyes give that away.

    He had no clue what happened on the streets back then. Bands like the Upstarts,Sham sang about that. Police Brutality,Racism,Unemploiment,etc. Sitting in NY and taking jet set drugs has nothing to do with Punk. Sham 69 split up because of violence and Boneheads at their gigs.

    @real80smusic I never really saw him as punk artist. Only his clothes. His style is more rock.
    Also, in what way can violence be directed in a proper way? He was right about those bands who sang about destroying stuff and how they're not around anymore.

      They were associated with a lot of violence at their shows from their fans, including fascist skinheads and soccer hooligans. An anti-Asian riot broke out after one of their shows. Sham 69 made some moves to oppose that but they were really sending mixed messages.

    THEY STILL don't know what punk is... just look at all the faux punk bands and singers on the charts...
    Even the concept of "anarchy" has been perverted.
    Sadly later on we got fed Gangstarap and look at what that has brought.

  • @real80smusic
    @real80smusic 14 лет назад

    Sort of. Billy is a bit sore because he was trashed sometimes in the punk scene back in the uk as a fraud or more of a rocker than a punk. That's just the facts. I've read a lot about it.
    Anyway I agree with what he says about senseless violence but if that violence is directed in a proper way at the authorities, govt, etc that are holding people down, I see no problem in that.
