    This was the BEST video! Thank you for showing the whole process, I was going about it totally wrong & now I can actually see what to do to help my rabbits along. Hopefully it goes as smoothly as this one.

    Your note about adding their old hay back helped a lot. Every time I changed the pee pads, mine were having more arguments. Turns out the fresh hay was making it feel like starting over 🙃

    Followed this tutorial with a few slight variations and managed to bond new rescue bunny Harvey with my widowed doe Missy in 7 days 😊. Alongside the stress bonding trick, because I didn’t have another room to set up a neautral enclosure, I initially cut my bedroom/bunny room in half with xpen panels and made each rabbit alternate living in each others area for a couple of days and nights. That way the whole room became impregnated with each others scent. The shared living space during the later stages of bonding was a pen in the dead center of the room, with equal scent from both buns. This helped cut down on any territorial behaviour, though I think it only worked well in my case because Missy was showing no agression at all and only curiosity when living next door to Harvey.

    Thanks for the video that is a great help as I am trying to bond a male and female bunny.
    My female was desexed one week ago and my male is going to be desexed next week.
    They are both 4 1/2 months old. They were bonded as babies (not siblings) but got into a fight and chase today after I put them in the backyard (a neutral space) for the first time together since Peach being desexed.
    I have a question though why is it that they need a very small space to bond? I had an incident when I put them both in the yard at the same time my male tried to mount my female and she fought back and then wouldn’t stop chasing him. I had to separate them with the rake.
    Their pens are right next to each other and they kiss each other and lay along their pens next to each other it’s been like this for about a month now that’s why I’m so surprised at what happened today.

    Mochi and Bear are adorable. I wish my bunnies would bond. We can’t seem to get past the stage of nipping from 1 of them. The other wants to be bonded and doesn’t nip. 😞

    • @binkybunnyfamily
      @binkybunnyfamily  2 года назад

      I've had nippy buns during bonding! It's very stressful I understand! Just like mounting it's also a way to show dominance and a way to request grooming. If you've already made sure you're in completely neutral area (especially an area that your nippy bun has NEVER been in), and you didn't put anything in the bonding pen that they can be territorial over, did you notice if your bun has groomed your nippy bun at all? Sometimes the nipping has to be done in order for them to communicate with each other. (nipping is also different biting, in which biting is not allowed)

    Remember, you have to neutralize your bunnies to successfully bonding them, or they will fight over territories and it can have deadly outcome ...

    Great video and very adorable bunz you have there I'm going to start this bonding method in 2 days time I have a spayed female who is 2 and a neutered make 11 months old I don't have neutral territory but it made a small space using children's play mats .. while I have them in their small space do I need to watch them all the time?

    • @binkybunnyfamily
      @binkybunnyfamily  2 года назад

      Hello! Thank you! With this method, yes they need to be watched at all times including sleeping next to them in the evening! In my other bonding video, you can see I bonded my 2 male boys using the same bonding method and I also watched them 24/7 until they were bonded! Different rabbits will have different behaviors during bonding (it's all dependent on their personality, it's not dependent on age or gender). I highly suggest watching my other bonding video as that bonding was a bit more "rough" than with these 2! ❤

    Good video. My bonded bunnies - smokey and magic got into a fight on Valentine's day morning and broke up. We took 1 to vet for a check up and he was fine. They are in separate cages as of today, but seem to stay close to each other between the bars. Thinking of starting the rebonding process today. Confused by the break-up

    • @binkybunnyfamily
      @binkybunnyfamily  2 года назад

      Hello! Did the bond break after you took one of the buns to the vet? Or do you mean you took your bun to the vet after their bond broke? (bunny bonds may break if you only take 1 bunny to the vet because the bunny will smell different after the vet visit)

      @@binkybunnyfamily The brothers were neutered around October 1, 2021 and separated for a number of weeks. Bonding process began in latter November and they were officially bonded on December 18th and never separated until 2/14/22. On Sunday 2/13 we noticed Smokey not eating, but he snapped out of it by mid-day. Woke up on 2/14 to some Fur spread in the cage and then observed some intense fighting which kept resuming. Spoke with Vet on Monday and they suggested separating them. Took Smokey to vet for check-up and he was fine, although given some meds, which he is still taking. Other facts are they used to share same pen, toys, food, etc. There are 2 litter and hay bins in the cage, which they were using interchangably, or sometimes both in 1 at same time. Ive just started rebondin process, 15 to 30 min a day, in a neutral place. I would say i need to stay close if not on top of them to keep the cool. One other fact, I did switch paper pellet brand in their litter a few weeks ago and do use different brands at times.

    • @binkybunnyfamily
      @binkybunnyfamily  2 года назад

      @@RJRAMR1 I see! Sometimes when a rabbit in a bonded duo or group is not feeling well, they get picked on by the other rabbit and that’s what I think happened. Now to successfully bond them, make sure you’re bonding in a COMPLETELY neutral place where both rabbits have never been otherwise if one or both recognizes the area they will continue to have tiffs during bonding. If it’s not working, I’d fully separate them for minimum 2 weeks where they don’t see or smell each other at all and then start the bonding fresh in a neutral area. I personally don’t do day time bonding where the buns are being bonded for some time and then separated until the next day. I always go straight through for a week. There are many good tips online for day time bonding though! ❤️

    Im currently in the bonding process right now. I have a male (8yo) and a female (6yo) both spayed/neutered. My problem is that they're not cuddly.....We've gotten past the "bonding bad stuff", there's no more fighting, mounting, chasing, nipping, etc. My female even gives my male kisses but he wont return them, and that makes her mad. Is that a sign that the bonding isn't complete? Or that maybe I should split them? I'm just terrified something might happen while I'm not home.

    • @binkybunnyfamily
      @binkybunnyfamily  2 года назад

      Hello! How long has your bonding process been so far since you've first put them together? When she gets mad about him not returning kisses, what is her behavior? The fact that you got past the initial bonding phase is so good! Some bonds just need more time to solidify and grow!

      Has 8-12 weeks passed since their spay? Are the bonding attempts being done in COMPLETELY neutral space where both buns can’t recognize the room and also can’t smell their litterboxes nearby?
