  • WoGü is one of the best known multi-pitch routes in Europe: not only for its difficulty but because it also carries a little bit of history with it. Beat Kammerlander bolted it in 1997 in honor of Wolfgang Güllich after he died in a car accident. That´s why it bears his initials, WoGü. It is considered one of the most difficult multi-pitch lines at the moment.

      Then just do it, go to a climbing gym, get to know people that you can learn from. You won´t regret it.

    Does somebody know what's with the artificial hold on 1:39 about? In such an historical route?

      @@stefans4562 Beat Kamerlander himself is talking about that in the latest video of Cedric Lachat who did the route now too. He, Beat, explains he broke the hold in his first ascent and said i have to glue it back on. :-D What a legend!

    hey i have a question regarding mammut rope. Recently i bought an old stock un-open gravity superdry. does a rope have a certain lifespan duration before it become absolete/expired?.. i know a motorcycle tyres do. after 5 years even if its not used the tyre is already bad for use. does the same principt?. thanks.

    • @8cbawse
      @8cbawse 8 лет назад

      Yes, the same principle applies. Most manufacturers recommend 10 years maximum, even if the rope has never been used.

      Rope is the one thing you never ever skimp on. If a sling or bolt fails you fall a bit further than normal, might twist an ankle or something if you're unlucky. If your rope fails you die. Always take good care of your ropes and it's better to replace it too early than too late.

      +aezif dhom - Absolutely! Also be aware of storage conditions (cool and dry, not near oil or gas, etc.), number of falls, types of falls (dynamic loading / factor 2), never step on ropes, etc. Take care of it like your life depends on it ... it may very well.

    • @leoingson
      @leoingson 6 лет назад

      I would not go so far as to give a lifespan. Take care how you store it - no UV-light, no acids, no heat - else the softener of the core might evaporate. Factor X falls are limited, too. Else check the sheath - as long as it protects the core (no hole, no shifting, no peltzing), all is well. I had an Edelrid rope for 18 years, it got really thick, but was still fine. Edge-falls are killer for sheath (and core), do not underestimate even round edges (that's what finally killed the sheath).

    • @leoingson

      Recent tests have shown, that ropes don't "age" at all. But see about storage etc above.
