Being Odia who has his tastebuds tempered with authentic odia and bengali cuisines on the regular, I find Amritsar to be one of the only places where both my taste buds and pocket are happy. Amazing food, amazing people, homely atmosphere. What a place, this. All this makes me wonder how Lahore was before partition and if what they used to say about Lahore was actually correct.

@@ManeeshSolankiYTOdia comfort food is subtle on spices I'll admit, but it's not that different from Kadi chawal, Dal chawal and roti-kaddu/tinde ki sabzi popular in the northern states.
Specialty/celebratory cuisines are where our choices vary from the northern states. You'd find all kinds of food starting with oil, spice, ginger and garlic heavy cuisines in the northern districts to cuisines where lightly oiled spices dance in your mouth with freshness in the southern districts. The temple triangle region has certain pockets where you'd be blown by the use of cow-ghee.
And yes, no region in the world can compete with our northern brothers when it comes to use of butter/ghee/oil and fresh cream in their celebratory cuisines.
Lahore still has flavors you'll never find anywhere

Had food here (Babbi fish and chicken) when we were in Amritsar in 2019. Keema paratha, Butter Chicken, butter naan, butter paneer.. all were so tasty😋😋.

There are many opinions on this. Some say meat is not permitted to be eaten if you're a practicing Sikh. Others will say Sikhs can eat meat as long as it isn't killed without daya. Daya means compassion. So halal meat or any other meat killed for ritualistic purposes cannot be consumed. I'm a somewhat practicing Sikh, I eat meat. But unlike others I don't eat meat mindlessly. I'm thankful for the life that was taken to give me sustenance.
