Steve, one of the oldest carved pieces is actually a carved mammoth ivory spoon from an archaeological site in Russia called Avdeevo. It's reliably dated at 21,000 years old.
Thank your for watching. I wasn't aware of that carving, however, I was referring to an article on what they claim to be the oldest wood carving. The Shigir Sculpture or Shigir Idol. Either way, I think carving is here to stay, and for good reason.
A good video for people not carving. Here's a topic NO ONE has covered. Carving posture. Lighting? How do you stand or sit to carve. Elbows free? Height of desk? Got all the other tools. My leg goes to sleep during a carving session. Very annoying.
Interesting topic idea. I can imagine that being a little different for everyone but I might be able to find some general idea that might be helpful. I can tell you that carving with a camera in between you and the carving isn't a great way to do it. I get a sore neck sometimes trying to look around the camera to see what I'm doing
@@S.Hunter There has got to be a way to suspend the camera just over your head and not in your sightline to achieve the same shot as you can with the camera on the desk. A horizontal pole? An adjustable clamp. I see this happen all the time. The phone or camera is obscuring your sightlines.
I have recently purchased an arm that I mount my camera to and have started trying different camera positions and angles. If you watched my leprechaun video you can see a comment in there about not becoming left handed all of a sudden but I was playing with camera angles. The first priority to me is to get a perspective from the camera that is as close as possible to being what it would look like if you were holding that carving in your hands. Camera angle, along with so many aspects of creating videos is a learning process. I am truly enjoying the challenge of that process and hopefully will continue to create better and better videos. Thank you.
Top 10 was much faster than I would have guessed. You must have done great preparation for your video time. Creative except I'll say if I make a short, but you might have a better word for a short. Overall, I don't like shorts unless it's pretty girl in her shorts.
Thanks Steve!
Thank you.
