Watching the basketball scenes with the whole class cheering and having fun, and then hearing the ending song with their class picture made me cry, it truly did. It makes you realize how the students were just kids, having fun, going through their youth, just beginning their lives, and in the span of a few days, they were pushed to the edge thanks to a cruel government that they had no say in. In the end, all of that was gone.
this song is like an old friend. Still remember the days when I watched the BR dvd and replayed this song again and again. Now I just come to RUclips and listen to it, again. A perfect song for an epic movie.
Because they all killed each other before your eyes while here they just look like a normal classroom like any other in the world and whom anybody in the world can identify to.
@@bartdude82 Black and white is often used in order to show that something is old, like a memory, and not the present. This is the class before it all went down, so like a memory of old, combined with a song about how life simply goes on, and the old days might not have been so bad despite its flaws. Showing a normal high school class compared to what we are left with afterwards, which is basically everyone dead.
This was actually a very emotional ending to me seeing the picture and realizing that all the students ended up dying. It makes think of all the groups of friends out there who may have been forced to kill each other.
I saw this movie in 2003 when I bought it randomly from an Asian movies and CD shop in Chinatown. I was 13 at the time, but this movie introduced me to the world of Japanese cinema and Beat Takeshi!! I watched this movie several times in the years since. It's still so chilling, especially the lighthouse scene with the girls. This song perfectly wraps up the movie. Very nostalgic.
This song gives me a feeling of regret for how petty school life was, we all grow up to realize the only things that separates us is the way we treat each other, we succumb to social psychology which is unavoidable at first but we can learn to overcome if we allow it and are bold enough to apply it, trust me if you are reading this and are of school age, treat others with kindness and respect and you will not look back with any regrets. - Craig

that movie just made me want to go back to Japan, and stay forever. What a great culture, hard workers, artists, and genuine big hearts. Miss that country.
Having re-watched the movie I really teared up in the end credits. Especially if you watch the Director's Cut version. They all got along even if some of them had fucked up lives. The song's quite nostalgic, reminds you of what they were before the game, just normal teenagers trying to get through life.

I love this theme even thou I can't even understand the lyrics, it has this nostalgic feel to it that makes you want to remember the dead students as actual teenagers during their more happier times in life. My dream is to make a perfect American version of Battle Royale that gets everything right and if I ever make that dream a reality, I would certainly translate this song for the ending credits or at least use a song on the same line of nostalgic. Even thou it probably gonna be impossible
You can like Battle Royale, for the frighteningly real description of turning friends on friends when faced with a death threating situation; or you can dig Hunger Games for a more lighthearted take on the whole concept. In my opinion, the two movies emit a whole different atmosphere. Especially if you read the Battle Royale novel (which I highly recommend to anyone who loves the movie! It's really a whole notch darker and unsettling as the movie; really well written as well!).
Jeese...you guys definitely know the feeling I had when I watched the end and listened to the song at the same time...right? Bittersweet. *SPOILERS* (But don't know why you'd be here if you haven't seen the movie completely) I felt happy that the two survived at the end...but gosh remembering all those deaths and how the students who really were such great friends just got slaughtered like that was just tough to suck in. It truly was quite an emotional and breathtaking experience.
Great song and fantastic movie. I once watched this movie 4 nights in a row. kind of obsessed. Keep having to watch it over internet though. I am yet to get a good version on dvd.
Lyric Plants and trees are green, flowers are in full bloom, and colors abound The seasons are turning again and it's a mild spring day I have nothing to do but just think of the tree-lined avenue, alone now Everyday life passes without a half-time I'm just trying to make ends meet I'm just trying to get by Sometimes I don't give a damn what I'm doing The morning is coming, still the same, still the sun will rise again I'll do it all over again Outside the window, the south wind washes away the pain in my heart Tears of days gone by, time will soon take me away in unconsciousness If time takes me away in unconsciousness All that matters is the light I just want to stay here a little longer We go every day with a smile To the one the light shines on, to the future that's open to us We go every day with a smile May your dreams come true This unseasonal rain blurs the expression and its tears Gerra before it stops falling Gerra before it stops falling One week, one week, one week, one week One drink, one drink, one drink, one drink, one drink, one drink The destination is our friends, and as usual, we talk foolishly through the night As if these days will never end Like a bird spreading its wings and flapping its wings Everybody's trying so hard, don't lose, there ain't no pinch runners With those who mock us laughing in the face, we grab the dream we've drawn and hold it in our hands A shooting star after the rain, I'm praying for you, come on up, comrades! We go every day with a smile We go every day with a smile We go every day with a smile May your dreams come true, like water in a flower bottle Somehow, I turned off my cell phone and listened to the hustle and bustle of the world. I can hear the wind, it's drifting away, now where is it going? I'm listening to it as if I'm lonesome Overlapping my future I want you to say something to me, I feel the same way The irreplaceable life that I'm wearing down I dream of my childhood and I dream of the morning in front of the mirror with my toothbrush When I brush my teeth in front of the mirror I'm leaving the house, living day after day I don't want to wait for the night anymore, I don't care if I rest, I just want to build up my strength The town where time ticks by quietly, the arch that we connect with our dreams The stairs of quiet days... Under the sky where the wind has died down, tomorrow we'll grab it with our own hands On the stairs of quiet days... DeepLで翻訳しました (www.deepl.com/app/?
@DaigojiGai I haven't bothered seeing the second film, because I have heard that it didn't deserved to be watched. So thank you for giving me a reason to watch it.
With all the flash backs in the movie about the students partying basketball and seeing everyone happy, even mitsuko was cheering and then she kind of shied away at the end, this movie sucked me in and made me want every student to survive. Its still hard to watch this movie knowing that they were all good kids just caught up in their own lives and then thrown into their governments cruel game. This movie is like a fine silk that is drapped over an atomic bomb, very beautiful and violent.
i really love this song. it takes me back to the time i accidentally watched this movie first time with a friend. still one of the best movies i've seen, since i really wouldn't have guessed what was going to happen next. this song kinda made it clear that the movie was a satire.
i love this film and this song i remember this came on tv when i was a kid and i taped it on a vhs (yeah thats how long ago it was lol) and i kept rewinding the credits to listin to this song
This movie, picture, and song were all sad and happy. So many groups and students forced to massacre each other. And I felt so fucking sorry for Mitsuko. She had a shitty life and she could have had a better experience afterwards but she didn’t make it. Her death kinda made me tear up. She just wanted better. :(
It's mid year in 2019 and i came back here just to listen this song again and it's so nostalgic. I don't know what to feel, sad or joy. I wish Japan will have remake of this movie and make it even better.
of course never seen an other that fits the movie so perfect together and show also other sides of the movie. with this ending BR is one of the saddest movies ever.

Grass and trees become green, flowers colorfully bloom.
Seasons come by again. A comfortable spring day,
With out anything to do I think by myself
in the tree lined street.
The days go by without any break.
I am struggling to manage myself here.
Sometimes, let's live a life
Without thinking so deeply.
Morning comes, the sun rises again.
Outside the window the south wind
blows the pain in my heart.
Shall the tears I shed in the past days
be pulled into my unconsciousness.
what is important is the light,
I'd like to stay here a bit more.

At the meeting place my friends are all there.
like every day we spend the night chatting nonsense
to continue on with these days
I flap my wings like a bird.
Everyone is doing their best. Don't lose; we don't have a pinch runner.
Going over the people laughing at you,
catch the dream you imagined into your hands.
Wish to the shooting star after the rain.

Without no reason I set off my mobile.
In the far back of the noise
can't you hear the voice of the wind
drifting away now where and why.
Obvious though, I listen on.
Like putting your own future over it.
Wanting something to be said about my self, is the same feeling.
My life goes away bit by bit.
Now I possess multiple copies of my childhood dreams.
I make a stupid face
as I brush my teeth in front of the mirror in the morning.
Going outside. I live a day like this.
I'll stop waiting for the night.
Resting isn't bad, charge up your energy.
quietly the city ticks away time.
Connecting our dreams, we make an arch.

Needed this
I love this theme even thou I can't even understand the lyrics, it has this nostalgic feel to it that makes you want to remember the dead students as actual teenagers during their more happier times in life. My dream is to make a perfect American version of Battle Royale that gets everything right and if I ever make that dream a reality, I would certainly translate this song for the ending credits or at least use a song on the same line of nostalgic. Even thou it probably gonna be impossible
This song is amazing and pays tribute to all the characters who died in such a tragic fashion.
Guys watch "Lesson of the Evil" if you want to feel a similar vibe of epicness. A japanese movie of course. You're welcome.
Hunger games suck Battle Royale rocks
glad never saw a crap like hunger games again.
you can praise something without trashing the other
You can like Battle Royale, for the frighteningly real description of turning friends on friends when faced with a death threating situation; or you can dig Hunger Games for a more lighthearted take on the whole concept.
In my opinion, the two movies emit a whole different atmosphere. Especially if you read the Battle Royale novel (which I highly recommend to anyone who loves the movie! It's really a whole notch darker and unsettling as the movie; really well written as well!).
This song, plus the context of all that just happened in the movie, plus Rainymood gives me so many feels.
Jeese...you guys definitely know the feeling I had when I watched the end and listened to the song at the same time...right? Bittersweet.
*SPOILERS* (But don't know why you'd be here if you haven't seen the movie completely)
I felt happy that the two survived at the end...but gosh remembering all those deaths and how the students who really were such great friends just got slaughtered like that was just tough to suck in.
It truly was quite an emotional and breathtaking experience.
Cette chanson touche profondément mon âme. Magnifique.
This movie is probably in my top 3 of all time
Great song and fantastic movie. I once watched this movie 4 nights in a row. kind of obsessed. Keep having to watch it over internet though. I am yet to get a good version on dvd.
...after the movie ended...this song made me think about it very much...^^
RUN
was so sad
I really love the song, Battle Royale is indeed a amazing movie but it could be more risky and action and more gore, but overall its nice
You mean riske
No, I meant risky
well it's not exactly meant to be an action film, but more realistic.
Yeah, I'd like to see more character development.. In my opinion.
More gore ? You should read the manga then.
thanks, it had been bugging me, i haven't watched Battle Royal in a very long time but i still remember the credits song
Lyric
Plants and trees are green, flowers are in full bloom, and colors abound
The seasons are turning again and it's a mild spring day
I have nothing to do but just think of the tree-lined avenue, alone now
Everyday life passes without a half-time
I'm just trying to make ends meet
I'm just trying to get by
Sometimes I don't give a damn what I'm doing
The morning is coming, still the same, still the sun will rise again
I'll do it all over again
Outside the window, the south wind washes away the pain in my heart
Tears of days gone by, time will soon take me away in unconsciousness
If time takes me away in unconsciousness
All that matters is the light I just want to stay here a little longer
We go every day with a smile
To the one the light shines on, to the future that's open to us
We go every day with a smile
May your dreams come true
This unseasonal rain blurs the expression and its tears
Gerra before it stops falling
Gerra before it stops falling
One week, one week, one week, one week
One drink, one drink, one drink, one drink, one drink, one drink
The destination is our friends, and as usual, we talk foolishly through the night
As if these days will never end
Like a bird spreading its wings and flapping its wings
Everybody's trying so hard, don't lose, there ain't no pinch runners
With those who mock us laughing in the face, we grab the dream we've drawn and hold it in our hands
A shooting star after the rain, I'm praying for you, come on up, comrades!
We go every day with a smile
We go every day with a smile
We go every day with a smile
May your dreams come true, like water in a flower bottle
Somehow, I turned off my cell phone and listened to the hustle and bustle of the world.
I can hear the wind, it's drifting away, now where is it going?
I'm listening to it as if I'm lonesome
Overlapping my future
I want you to say something to me, I feel the same way
The irreplaceable life that I'm wearing down
I dream of my childhood and I dream of the morning in front of the mirror with my toothbrush
When I brush my teeth in front of the mirror
I'm leaving the house, living day after day
I don't want to wait for the night anymore, I don't care if I rest, I just want to build up my strength
The town where time ticks by quietly, the arch that we connect with our dreams
The stairs of quiet days...
Under the sky where the wind has died down, tomorrow we'll grab it with our own hands
On the stairs of quiet days...

Thanks
@DaigojiGai I haven't bothered seeing the second film, because I have heard that it didn't deserved to be watched. So thank you for giving me a reason to watch it.
One of the greatest films
With all the flash backs in the movie about the students partying basketball and seeing everyone happy, even mitsuko was cheering and then she kind of shied away at the end, this movie sucked me in and made me want every student to survive. Its still hard to watch this movie knowing that they were all good kids just caught up in their own lives and then thrown into their governments cruel game. This movie is like a fine silk that is drapped over an atomic bomb, very beautiful and violent.
such a pretty song. left me with a heavy melancholy feeling
One of the most perfect movies ever made & this song was just great after they leave to run for their lives at the end.
i really love this song. it takes me back to the time i accidentally watched this movie first time with a friend. still one of the best movies i've seen, since i really wouldn't have guessed what was going to happen next. this song kinda made it clear that the movie was a satire.
i love this film and this song i remember this came on tv when i was a kid and i taped it on a vhs (yeah thats how long ago it was lol) and i kept rewinding the credits to listin to this song
So many memories in this movie
the feels on this song tho...
This song is so painfully sad it makes you want to break down and cry.
Dragon Ash = best band in Japan.
This song fits for the ending though. I cried.
So touching ending
Movie made me cry, laugh, scream, and all other stuff! It was THAT damn good.
Lot of lost memories, it makes sad and happy at once.. mélancholy tears us apart..
Amazing movie!!!!!!!
2020 still listenning
one of the best manga i ever read, and the movie is also good
I dont care what people say. Movie is a classic.
I loved this song at the end of the movie but the class photo is very poignant too. Like, a reminder of how they all were before the madness began.
It's mid year in 2019 and i came back here just to listen this song again and it's so nostalgic. I don't know what to feel, sad or joy. I wish Japan will have remake of this movie and make it even better.
Best credits of any movies ever!!!
of course
never seen an other that fits the movie so perfect together and show also other sides of the movie.
with this ending BR is one of the saddest movies ever.
I own the first film on blu ray, and iTunes. One of my fav movies.(I’ve search for this song on iTunes even Google Play store but can’t find it. So thanks for the upload.
