    I have been a great admirer of Dr. Hoodbhoy and have followed his talks on RUclips for a long time . It is such a pity how a great Pakistani, a patriot, a scientist and a voice of reason is being treated. It was heartening to see the young interviewer ask good and intelligent questions and his comment at the very end that there were many people who thought the world of Dr. Hoodbhoy. I hope you all become a force to be reckoned with in the future and bring Pakistan back to its senses. If the Indian government was smart enough, it would offer Dr. Hoodbhoy a professorship in one of its top research universities. It might be just wishful thinking at present, as this might endanger his life given the politics of Pakistan.

    Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy is a first rate Physics instructor. He knows his subject inside out. Moreover, his assessment of the rotten academic grid is correct.
    However, it is foolish to project him as some sort of a polymath. He doesn't have the necessary familiarity with domains he usually trespasses on various fora.
    Certainly, he is knowledgeable but not wise.
    Although there is plenty in this very clip to demonstrate the validity of the aforementioned observation, let us just stick with the following two instances:
    16:34 - 17:00 (

      Dr. Pretentious Hoodbhoy is used to sidetracking like this, ruclips.net/video/FDFuKhRmPJo/видео.html - just like this young student explores his cherry-picked bizarre arguments, Dr Sahab is known to do that a lot, and I think it only damages students, which sort of makes sense with the institute telling him that he does not meet their academic standards.

    I hve always followed Pervez Hoodbhoy and I like his opinions on history and religion. The only difference between Pakistani Islam and Hinduism is that hindus can without fear say that they are atheist, which pakistani muslims dare not say. Pakistan will not make progress to their potential unless they restrict their religion to their homes. Even if you believe God or not, giving too much importance to religion smacks of getting vise like control over the gullible followers.

  • @haroonrashid7229

    What would you say about this verse of the Holy Quran? "What, now! When previously you rebelled and were one of the corrupters? Today we will preserve your body so you can be a Sign for people who come after you. Surely many people are heedless of Our Signs.” [10:91-92]. There is great debate as to the identity of the Pharoah in the time of Musa (عليه السلام) with some identifying him as Merneptah. However, most of the evidence backed up by verses of the Holy Quran point towards him being Rameses II. The Quran and the Bible [Exodus 14:21-30 and Exodus 15:19-21] state that the Pharaoh was drowned in the sea. However, the Qur’an differs from the Bible and it makes a very unique statement that the body of the drowned Pharaoh was saved as a sign for future generations. The Quranic statement about rescuing Pharaoh’s body would be in total agreement with the fact that the body of Rameses II has survived in a mummified form. It was discovered in 1881 among a group of royal mummies that had been removed from their original tombs for fear of theft. Priests of the 21st Dynasty had reburied them in a cache at Deir al-Bahari on Luxor’s west bank. Nothing whatsoever was known at the time of the revelation of the Quran about the mummy of Rameses II. Where did this knowledge come from?

    As a child and teenager growing up in Pakistan in the late 1970's and early 1980's, I saw the mess brought about by Zia Ul Haq. Also, for some reason, I had absolutely NO INTEREST in religion/Islam. This stuff bored me to death and put me to sleep! Yet, in order to survive, one becomes a compulsive "munafiq/mulhid" on the inside, but on the outside, one goes through the rituals and motions, oft repeating "mashallah," "alumdullilah," and so forth, all for show. I am so happy to have left that wretched system behind decades ago.

      I wasn't even thinking of Molvis or ulamaa. Generally whenever there is a discovery my social media fills up with how it was always known to us. That is just unfair. We should give credit where it is due. Also sometimes the discovery changes, scientists find that they were mistaken... what happens to the claim of knowing it all along... that makes us look like a joke. A bad one at that.

    Fantastic interview. Just a suggestion, may be it's better to stick to a single language when interviewing. That helps continue the flow. Cheers. :)

    You are so wrong mr.Hoodbhoy,unlike the 'aasmani kitabs' of the abrahamic religions Geeta was written by human and there are many Geetas.As far as Vedas are concerned it used to be recited by the rishis and later Ved Vyasa wrote it.Do not mix the abrahamic scams with Sanatan Dharma

    Why are we giving so much importance to Hoodboy who did nothing for science in Pakistan, his role is just to criticise everything including Islam. Can you tell me his achievements related to his contributions in the development of Science and Technology??

    Logic can't prove the origination of the laws. I think he hasn't read the works of Avicenna
    @13:00
    100% agree with that statement.
    @14:00
    That was a very ignorant response from and at that point I didn't find it interesting to go ahead and watch the whole thing as I have read better pseudo/modern atheist such as Dawkins and Hitchens and more sophisticated athiests such as Chomsky. So in that regards listening to someone who will only repeat what they say is a waste.

    I have read his books , he is better Muslim or in general HUMAN than all Molvis, Priests and Pandits combined in Pakistan. He is right, If every science is in Bible, Quran or Gita, why didn't any Molvi , Priest or any Pandit discovered gravity, laws of motion or medical procedures. All they do is giving you taveez , that is their medicine. C'mon people should grow up. Not, ever intellectual should be discarded as Anti-religion.
