@@nickmcvicker3091 It's because of the Bigsby, it's not supposed to bend very far (but in this song it's fun too bend far with the harmonics 😝) A well set-up Gretsch wouldn't, but mine isn't well set-up.
Ethan Watts Music yeah I use a PRS Floyd Rose custom 24 and a Fender performer Jazzmaster with the stat tremolo system. Both hold up crazy good on heavy bends but dang that Gretsch has such a great tone!
@@malachiskelly3919 yea I agree. The effects make those pulls resonate like that. I mean you can do all bunch of all those sort of pulls that the upper guitar is doing in on a strat or an ibanez etc....too much credit given on those toyish gretsch guitars lol...
Might be able to sneak it above the nut? Gonna be a different sound, but could pull a similar enough to cut it if you don't have the same bridge style as these bigsby guitars.
Why does this song just get better and better every single listen?! Can we get Dom to give a drum playthrough, or even a longer tutorial on the song with the "improvised" sounding sections?
Very helpful, what I did since I’m the only electric player is tuned to drop D and then Capo 1 which allows you to go between the two guitar parts without losing the low Eb note on the turnaround and you don’t have to retune the entire guitar.
If you're a guitarist, a Gretsch is like a star head screwdriver in your toolbox. When you need it, it's the exact tool for the job, and nothing else can do what it does. Gretsches rules!
I actually just got my first Gretsch this past week, and lucky for me it was a 59 sparkle jet. I had no idea how much I was missing out, and I’m used to playing higher end American made guitars. But good God, Gretsch is on a different planet!!
Ha! Now that you have learned all the really cool parts in Eb walks in to church Sunday morning and is told we are going to play it in the key of G and you have 10 minutes to relearn the song! How does that make you feel? Rattled!
Gretch fans, might consider the Schecter Coupe. Tesla filtertrons, bigsby, roller bridge, graphtech nut, mine stays in tune remarkably well with good setup and lunrication.
Hilarious. I was watching it like wow this is the most on tone tutorial and tone ever. Then I realised it's David Liotta :D. Makes sense. Wonderful track amazing
@@DavidLiotta What is the tuning on the top guitar part? I am a mess trying to figure it out. I think I have it then its off on the low E. I dropped down to D. He's capo'd as well? Thanks tons! Love this !
Thanks David and Joey, can't wait to play this in church once the lockdown is over! I always was so blown away by that epic tremolo volume swell effect. I have been trying to figure how to achieve that sound since Here Again but so far not really successful haha 😅😂 Any pointers?
Hey David! Great question, some of what you're hearing might be coming from the loops as well. Our producer Aaron Robertson added some crazy tremolo sounds with some virtual instruments. For this song I'm only using tremolo on the choruses. But in the past I have used a tremolo pedal hooked up to an expression pedal to control the rate.
The TV Jones pickups. hand wired, was a great idea, , I have one, a Black Duo Jet, kind of outgrew it, do not care for the Bixby, or the toggle switch tone adjust, and they have went up in price, so they are selling them no doubt, selling mine.
No. I'm using a 7 string John Petrucci BFR Musicman with the Dream Catcher and its absolutely huge sounding. Plus with 7 strings you can pretty much handle nearly all of these guitar parts at once which pans out nice since I'm the only Electric player.
Great questions! You can check out my rig rundown here for my signal chain: ruclips.net/video/VUPB7ECniIw/видео.html For dirt on this song I have my Jackson Bloom and J Rockett .45 Caliber on all the time and then kick on my Jackson Broken Arrow for the bigger parts. For most of the song I have a simple hall verb on my Big Sky and switch to the cloud setting for the more ambient parts. I hope this helps!
Did someone tab out the beginning yet? :) I'm not so good at catching what exactly he's picking even when I slow it down cause the audio distorts and I can't see which strings he's touching. *_*' :P maybe someone has a tip on how I can improve on that too?

T Gemz just bought a Gretsch. I can say this is probably a true statement🤣

What is the name/series of the Gretsch guitar used here?

Gretsch ‘59 Vintage Select Duo Jet with TV Jones pickups
Beautiful silver sparkle.
@@mib6002 It's beautiful, thanks
Incredible!
Every time we play this at church I have to retune about three times in the middle of the song 😂
Would your other guitars go out as much too or is that a Gretsch thing?

I came here to figure out the trick note of 2:37. Ok, Gretsch. I see how you do that eerie overdriven note from behind the bridge.
Might be able to sneak it above the nut? Gonna be a different sound, but could pull a similar enough to cut it if you don't have the same bridge style as these bigsby guitars.
Thoketan I just play a pinched 3rd string on the 6th fret.
If you take a slide and put it around the second pickup on the D string with a little pressure, you should get that sound
It if you have a gretsch like the one in the video, you can play the string behind the bridge
Will Hartman I don’t have a Gretsch.........yet.
David's tone is incredible 🤯 I spotted an HX stomp and some other amazing pedals on his board and it is tempting me big time!
Just go for it!
We need the electric guitar riff for "Might get loud" ❤🙌
