6:10 whether making movies, delivering a product, creating anything, theres always 3-4 factors. Time, quality, costs and possibly luck. You want cheap you may get it quick and it maybe low quality. Longer time, better quality possibly cheaper price. etc. You may get or do quick but rarely luck happens. You cannot create luck, you can create a better outcome but only through logiccal approaches. Don't deal with irrelevant. Delete all negatives, no matter who or what they are. There are elite people out there, you just have to find them. You want to deal with cheap/bad people/crappy products its just going to be a long drawn out line with little progress financially, mentally, emotionally and even creatively. This world is all about progression. With the digital era, advance programs etc, you don't need to start terribly or a crappy website etc. Theres great quality now, it just takes time to find. Always has and will be. Easy to find trash, it's everywhere! Get good within yourself than go find quality. We surround ourselves by who we are within.
Legit Question -- What if when I double or triple my rates, existing client comes to me and say "WTF? Last time I checked, it was only X amount. Please reconsider. I love your services, but I cannot afford that much. For comparison, your competitors only charge Y amount." How should I respond when they try and make me feel guilty about it? Knowing that they might spread the word "Sean 3X-ed his rates, he is all about money, he only sees money, materialistic, etc." Do we need to justify our new rates to such people who ask this way? I was surprised that most of my existing clients are happy to pay 3X more anyway without even saying a word. They just transferred the money. So this is my question: Is there a professional way to justify our newly increased rates and packages that best communicates our value? Without angering the client who will tell others -- "you charge so much, you are bad" mentality. Thank you.
Just fire those clients. They aren't your clients anymore. They seem to have chosen you only because your services were cheaper than competitors' anyway. That's the pain you have to take for not charging the premium prices from the start. All this info is taken from this channel.
point 1: Guilt trips are manipulation. Why would you want to work with someone who is willing to manipulate you. point 2: You're not communicating the value (Feature -> Benefit -> Emotion, but in reverse), or they're just cheap (Fire them). Turn it back on them: Yes, that is what I charged but I'm able to deliver far more value now than I did previosly. Why aren't you willing to pay me my value? I can't give that value to you for free and charge other people. I don't know if Dan will chime in, but that's my take. (note: I teach Consultative Selling at the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business - a top 40 business college.)

"But it used to cost this" "if my product has helped you then it's worth the extra couple bucks. If not then get lost" or something to that extent. What it's doing is placing guilt on them for wanting you to lower your prices and putting you in power by reminding them what your product did for them and saying it's worth it. What you don't want to do is let them win this argument that's how businesses get stuck in unhappy places where they can't raise their prices
Sean Lim Improve your value (top up on value) and then set a new much higher price. They'll pay as long as they know there's higher value. That way you won't have issues. Whether youre selling to new or old clients.
