@@thegaynomad Well actually, it's possible that many of the 'light sabre' images come from different types of beams that are not light sabres: One looks like thin sun beams shining through trees (komorebi), one looks like a thin torch or lazer beam, and one looks like a light beam diffracting through a prism (a weird one though because it's red to orange spectrum). What they have in common is that they are verticle. I’ve just realised that that’s a fuckingly depressing song. I still love it very much, it’s just a bit funny how those positive vibes coexist with a song about loneliness and basically the thought that some people can be happy only while they are asleep
Regarding your last sentence, that's a great way of seeing the song, I just don't think that's the mainstream one though. Usually we see this as loneliness and longing, yes, but the Mr Sandman/dream is only a metaphore & a play on the word dream to talk about providence bringing around a chance meeting & a partner. loneliness & longing yes, but instead of "only happiness in dreams", still the hope of finding "someone to hold" irl Probably you're right as well, but I'll take hope where I can find it ^^
I think that’s the literal interpretation, but i’ve always seen it as mr sandman being a personification of life/luck, and bring me a dream meaning make my dream a reality.
@Butter Crab Almost all the Sandman pictures the AI made are basically the character from the Sandman comics, so this one would be no issue for me to guess, at least.

The image series tells us a story about a desperate woman making contact with a fathomless being of sand and dream-stuff. She wishes for a man to fill the void in her heart, and the Sandman obliges in the most revolting way... The lantern-eyed thing that it has created could perhaps generously be called a man, but its horrid visage drives the poor woman insane.
Sandman is an eldritch being but despite trying his hardest to help he takes everything literally, and he doesn't understand why the woman is mortified.
That woman is MidJourney AI's leitmotif. She's everywhere. Most times with red haird and looking to a man in the distance. Must be an AI bug or something.
I adore this depiction of mr sandman, the imagery of this unusually tall figure with a bowler hat gives such weird vibes, and as someone who's always liked to draw concept art for games and such, this brings me great inspiration.
What scares me is that this is just the _beginning_ of AI capabilities. And that people are rightfully discouraged to learn to make art. Human artists will become a very rare thing.
Interesting how some of it seems to understand the lyrics poetically while other parts such as “peachy” it interpreted literally. Would be cool to see someone make an animation based on these pictures!

It is omnipresent through all soil in the world, but currently lays dormant in a temple. The girl finds the temple and unleashes him. To thank her the Sandman promises to grant her a dream or wish. She wants to find another human that is in hiding like her, for some company, and the Sandman and her search around the world for a human. The Sandman finally finds him but the girl is on the other side of the world. She makes it her mission to eventually meet up with the man, and must tread through deserts and sail across vast seas to find him.
