I was looking for this steering wheel because my previous owner put it onto an 86 GMC. The Hayne's manual and parts store didn't match up to this horn button cover. Now I have to figure out if it's just the steering wheel they Frankensteined in or the whole steering column. Troubleshooting my horn. This was extremely informative.
thank you ~ thank you ~ thank you ~ thank you ~ i really appreciate your video. restoring my 1993 Astro Van - i bought brand new in 1993. thank you ~ again
So the MUCH easier way to do that harness is to bring a string through when you pull the wires back. That way, you have a lead to pull the other way and don't have to worry about damaging anything with that screwdriver you used...
Thank you! I have a 1993 Chevy k1500 Suburban and I am pretty new to fixing automotive issues. It has been exciting to slowly tackle each issue myself. Thank you for helping me learn more and be able to fix my horn too!
@@9thGenAccord thank you for your understanding and willingness to help repair a turn signal clutch. I do appreciate your information on removing and replacing it though.
You just saved my ass. I couldn’t remember where the copper forked flat wires went and it turns out it’s behind the turn signal control ring. Haha oops
VERY NICE VIDEO !!! Thank you for making it and posting it. (You forgot to re-install your Emergency Flashers button, on the side.) Here's a tip, for you. You can very easily make a connector to hold your cell-phone to your shirt, so you can do videos like this, with a squeeze type paper clip (with the fold down squeeze handles), and 2 thick rubber band's and a little strip of tissue paper. Do a Lark's head knot with the rubber-bands, each thru each clip handle. Then put the tissue around your cell-phone and then the rubber-bands around that; split the difference from the ends of the unit. *DONT cover the camera*! (The tissue is to protect the phone from the rubber band and clip. You can skip that protection if you want). Then, just clip the spring clip to what you want to. You MAY need to put something behind the unit(inside your shirt), so it will aim where you want it to, like a roll of socks. . What little set-up it takes beats trying to hold a cam and do everything one handed. This can be applied and removed quickly. (( Be careful not to let the clip scratch your phone that's one of the things the tissue is for. )) Thanks again for your video !
Have a question the right turn single on my 1989 Chevy truck is not working it won’t go all the way up to but also my right taillights is not Turing on when but my question is can I put a switch from any year like from 90-98 or will it have to be a 89
Do you know how I can disconnect the whole horn? Mine is stuck on when i turn the steering wheel. I removed the fuse but that caused other issues. I cant find the relay or wire inside the steering column. I already removed the wire from the steering wheel. 89 chevy silverado
Just wanted to say thank you, my switch got stuck on high beam and my high beams lights went out. I thought I wasn't going to be able to drive my truck at night. Watching your video I can see that rod to switch it manually underneath the steering column.
@@zedapro1231 I haven't fixed my turn signal switch yet but I was able to change from high beam to low beam but grabbing the switch rod and pushing it manually underneath the steering column.
I have a 1988 Chevrolet Silverado c1500 2wd 5.7 engine my steering wheel is like the one you have . I'm having a problem with getting the horn wire hooked up where it locks in the white part . Anything you can tell me would be great
I have a 91 and I'm having problems with the turn signal indicator not responding... sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't... the fuse is good... Watching you take this apart is making me think, this is what my problem is; Was this the same problem you had?... that you needed to replace the insides?
What if whenever I turn my steering wheel left the horn goes off? It’s not always like that either if I move it up and down and be careful with it because it’s sensitive it’ll continue to work normally but I’ve been having to remove the fuse which disabled my dashboard lights and brake lights as well. Any ideas it would be greatly appreciated the previous owner put an aftermarket steering wheel on and I’m wondering if that has something to do with it.
Hi. I have a 1989 gmc and when I turn on my turn signal left or right and I press the brake the turn signal just pauses. When I let go of the brake the turn signal resumes blinking. Thanks in advance
Clear, concise, well explained! Nice job. Thank you. Mine was a '91 C1500.

Why don’t you have a friend film while you do the work?
You move tomach on the video you can't do everything alone. Everybody have two hands.and you used only one
Do you happen to know what part number(s)for the horn?
Where’s the airbag
It doesn’t have airbags. Cars made before 1998 didn’t need to have them.
