Used to love this ride at Magic Mountain. I sincerely miss it. Packs a punch. Forceful and scary. People bag on boomerangs... but these inverted versions are super fun. Brilliant design, imho.
I'll never forget going to Silverwood for our senior class celebration (class of 2011) and the class all ate a pulled pork BBQ lunch and then promptly went on rides. Me and a bunch of other kids went on Aftershock. I have glasses and take them off for roller coasters, and am pretty blind without them. Got on Aftershock and the ride went through, I remember when it finished and we were being lowered back into the platform, the seat in front of me which was once yellow was splattered with orange. I also noticed I was suddenly smelling the very strong odor of pulled pork I had eaten a little bit before. It took me a few seconds to realize the classmate next to me vomited AAAAAALL over the ride. 🤣 AS was closed for like an hour after that.
Actually not really tbh, when you have ridden it it more than once like me you get over used to it like i did amd you just dint scream but still Amazingly fun and exciting! I dont live by any amusment parks
Once you ride it once like sure it looks scary but when you actually do it its really fun. The only scary part on it is when ur stuck upside down for like 2 seconds
My daughter and I went there yesterday for my 47th birthday. First ride of the day was this one. I went from 😑 to 😲😱🤣 in .0001 seconds. I took about a three hour break and let her go on all the rides then tried the new plane coaster which was good and then did the corkscrew that was pretty tame compared to the other two, and then went back the Aftershock and went again. After the second time I realized I was done 😆 my kid rode that beast another 25 times 😆 had a great time. It was a perfect day at Silver wood, not too crowded and the lines moved so fast it was worth it. Even though they jacked up the ticket prices I still thought it was money well spent. Got there when they opened and left right before closing, ate all the carnival food and stuff I never eat and loved it. My daughter and I were spent and got home and she showered and we watched a movie and crashed. Today she's still sleeping 😆 in October we are going there for Scarywood. I just don't think I could handle those wooden coasters going backwards. That's freaking crazy 😆
I finally got the courage to go on that thing and just a warning: DO NOT sit on the front or back cars. you will dangle above the ground like a limp bird and it's not fun but the middle cars? 👌👌👌👌👌 would middle car again
Rode in the front car as a first timer. Almost cried. Most terrifying thing I have ever ridden. Was totally not expecting it to be THAT scary. Next time I will play it safe in a middle car.
I did the same thing when I rode it for the first time at six flags. They had some type of vest restraint at the time that made it even more terrifying. When I rode it at Silverwood I never do the front.
i remember for my grandmas 60th birthday we went to silverwood and actually got her to try the aftershock...she said she'd never do it again, but liked it
Imo, one of the few rides where the back seat is scarier than the front. You are so much higher up when it’s lifted up in the beginning and end. Makes me scream the whole time lol
never did get to tide this at GAm, dang thing was always down lol. then they just got rid of it and i never thought about it again. cool to see it still kicking
My 11 year old daughter, my 9 year old son, and my husband went on this.... needless to say, they had a blast and wanted to do it multiple times. 😅 I never went on it, but I plan on riding this beast this summer, 2024!! 🤙
This ride was soo fun I went on it with my dad definitely made some memories there, it also felt like I couldn’t breath for majority of the ride and I almost passed out but other then that it was awesome.
I always wondered why SFMM removed Deja Vu. I only had the opportunity to ride it once. I assumed it was either for a future expansion or the lack of capacity per hour but neither seems to be the reason now.
I went on this, it’s honestly very fun, the only scary part is the beginning when your being pulled up backwards and your just handing on your shoulder harness. But other than that it was very fun.
Yeah I rode Aftershock and it was actually pretty smooth! I would definitely recommend that you ride it; it was an exciting and pretty intense ride... now if only SLC's were fun.
+MetalSmasherGaming FYI - A Vekoma GIB (Giant Inverted Boomerang), like this one, is different than a Vekoma Invertigo coaster and it not just the seating arrangement. A GIB is much taller, has a larger loop and cobra roll and two huge catch car vertical lifts instead of the small angled chain lift hills.
ridden this a few times.. the front and back -most cars are thrilling because of the drop height.,, in the middle cars, i had a hard time making out what was happening - whether i was upside down or not - so i found it surprisingly boring. i was notably disappointed with the middle seats.. and usually i can hardly stand dropping rides cause they can be so frighteningly suspenseful. a fun ride, but i recommend getting seats with a view.
Went for the first time about a week ago. I sat in the very back (row 16). I closed my eyes for the second half. Next I go, I'm going doing the front row.
I actually liked the GIBs. I'm kinda sad that parks aren't really interested in them anymore, they're a vast improvement over other Boomerrang coasters.
I would die if I went on there. Hmmm next time I go to Silverwood (band field trip. heh like I could afford it) I might go on corkscrew. my first non wooden rollercoaster
Exactly. This is the giant inverted boomerang by Vekoma. Two lifts, a cobra roll and a loop. The one at Warner Madrid is called Stunt Fall. Not bad at all, but I don't like riding cobra rolls in reverse... :P (and not a big fan of boomernags either).
Nope. The one at six flags magic mountain sometimes held the train there for a second because it would take the train up too fast. This GIB never had that issue
The 4th time I rode on it I got stuck because on the second hill it slowly let us down and we waited for like 5 minutes. What did they do? I don't know if I like it or don't but they completed the ride so the second lift hill took way longer than usual
@@adairr no. Not to be rude but something actually happened because its a life. It uses a cable lift for the 2 vertical sections. And the second one it went as far up as momentum got it then it hooked on but it didn't take us up. It took us down. So yeah. IIRC you can find a roller coaster of the same exact model (Vekoma GIB) getting stuck for Theme Park Review.
+Kyle Gardner FYI - It's Déjà Vu, but the one that was at Six Flags Great America in Illinios, not the one that was at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California (which is what we said in the video description).
I love how in every video of Aftershock there’s always that little “oh god” right before they’re sent backward

there was so many turns on it that after the drops i had no idea what was going on
I chickend out ): it doesnt look that scary on camra but in real life it is
Pearl Rose same

I went on that. It is AWESOME👍🏼😎
Ahhhh just rode it, from the looks of it while standing in line it looks terrifying but when your on it it’s so fun!

Was it scary
I went on spin cycle and the drop one
ooo i love those ones
1cbear7 I’m 11 and for me the very front is the best place to be
1cbear7 the front and back are the best I go there alot
This was my first roller coaster back when it was still in Great America.
Yall trippin man this thing is in Athol Idaho
@@masonhatzke3584 but it was at Six Flags Great America in Illinois

Inverted or normal?
@@amroge8703 well this is a comment on a pov of an imverted boomerang, I'll let you take a guess
Rode it three times before my stomach couldn’t handle it anymore 😂 it’s was fun!
I love the ground
Sat in the front the 1st time, scared the living shit out of me. Never been so terrified on a roller coaster in my life
This is my dad's favorite ride, he's always wanted me to ride it with him but I never could get the courage to do it-
The very back seat is my favorite
Rode in the front car as a first timer. Almost cried. Most terrifying thing I have ever ridden. Was totally not expecting it to be THAT scary. Next time I will play it safe in a middle car.
Leaning on the restraint facing the ground in the front car looks very intimidating.
I did the same thing when I rode it for the first time at six flags. They had some type of vest restraint at the time that made it even more terrifying. When I rode it at Silverwood I never do the front.
My reaction to this video was:
"Why are kids riding this when this coaster in 195 FEET TALL?!"
I’ve been on it about 30 times. AMAZING
I blacked out on this ride front seat. This video does not do justice
Rode it 5 times while there almost made me pass out each time. So fun though 100% recommend
i remember for my grandmas 60th birthday we went to silverwood and actually got her to try the aftershock...she said she'd never do it again, but liked it
I finally went yesterday! It’s so fun it just hurts my head a bit
This one actually looks fun!
I went to silverwood a while ago and I used to think that this ride was scary, but then I went to cedar point LMAO
Imo, one of the few rides where the back seat is scarier than the front. You are so much higher up when it’s lifted up in the beginning and end. Makes me scream the whole time lol
Wow what a sick ride
This is one of my favorite rides at Silverwood! (except all the swearing)
I went on for the first time liike a week ago in front seats. It was an amazing experience, not as scary as i thought it was gonna be
never did get to tide this at GAm, dang thing was always down lol. then they just got rid of it and i never thought about it again. cool to see it still kicking
Lol it was down all of last year and just recently re-opened this summer at the end of the season.
My 11 year old daughter, my 9 year old son, and my husband went on this.... needless to say, they had a blast and wanted to do it multiple times. 😅 I never went on it, but I plan on riding this beast this summer, 2024!! 🤙
It’s a great ride!
Love that ride
Really wanted to do this but some kid threw up on it so the line became too long.
+Then It said It was ridden with mechanical problems. They just let SFNE deal with it.
Guy_With_A_Stick thats unforunate
Today The Aftershock got a Technical Stop and It broke more of my fear and we're All were safe gladly! Woo!
The first drop is terrifying but the rest of the ride is SO fun this was my second roller coaster Ever
I went on this, it’s honestly very fun, the only scary part is the beginning when your being pulled up backwards and your just handing on your shoulder harness. But other than that it was very fun.
Goliath was the worst boomerang I have ever been on, but I still wanna try Aftershock.
Yeah I rode Aftershock and it was actually pretty smooth! I would definitely recommend that you ride it; it was an exciting and pretty intense ride... now if only SLC's were fun.
@@maxinator2002 The Great Nor Easter is actually fun since they retracked it
this looks fun af!
Its scary tho
I really wish this was still at Great America. I only got to ride it once before it was moved.
There was a ride like this at California's Great America called Invertigo that had face-to-face seating.
+MetalSmasherGaming FYI - A Vekoma GIB (Giant Inverted Boomerang), like this one, is different than a Vekoma Invertigo coaster and it not just the seating arrangement. Joker roller coaster is face to face seating
AHAHA I can't wait to walk in one of these here in Mirabilandia, Brazil

meanwhile one of the times i rode, a total jock classmate blacked out...so.... to each their own.
I’ve rode front row on aftershock and it’s so fun
Just went on it, scariest thing I've ever gone on
Never got the chance to ride it at SFGAm. Hopefully I'll be able to ride this when I go to Montana again(it's only a 1.5 hour drive).
+CanadaCoasterFan Hello there CanadaCoasterFan!
Guy_With_A_Stick BTW it’s not in Montana. It’s in Idaho...
Went for the first time about a week ago. I sat in the very back (row 16). I closed my eyes for the second half. Next I go, I'm going doing the front row.
Put me on there & we fighting
I actually liked the GIBs. I'm kinda sad that parks aren't really interested in them anymore, they're a vast improvement over other Boomerrang coasters.
Goliath was the only one that I heard that sucked. It was the premier trains that ruined he ride.
I would die if I went on there. Hmmm next time I go to Silverwood (band field trip. heh like I could afford it) I might go on corkscrew. my first non wooden rollercoaster
The corkscrew kind of hurts your head a bit if you're short. So take that into account (if you haven't gone yet of course)
I would recommend leaning your head back onto the head rest during the loops it stops your head from hitting the head rest
This attraction is in Madrid in Parque Warner, his name is Stunt fall
Exactly. This is the giant inverted boomerang by Vekoma. Two lifts, a cobra roll and a loop. The one at Warner Madrid is called Stunt Fall. Not bad at all, but I don't like riding cobra rolls in reverse... :P (and not a big fan of boomernags either).
Have you gone on this before or was this your first time? And would you recommend doing it?
There’s a Roller Coaster Kings Island like this
Very different ride
Didn't there use to be a holding brake at the top of the first tower?
Nope. The one at six flags magic mountain sometimes held the train there for a second because it would take the train up too fast. This GIB never had that issue
Yes they have it know and made it higher and scaryier
This exact same ride, colors and all, is also featured at Six Flags New England.
The 4th time I rode on it I got stuck because on the second hill it slowly let us down and we waited for like 5 minutes. What did they do? I don't know if I like it or don't but they completed the ride so the second lift hill took way longer than usual
rollercoasters rely on gravity so it probably almost rolledback. nothing bad though.
