  • Veronica Campbell Brown was born on the 15th of May 1982 in the small settlement of Clarks Town found in Trelawney, Jamaica. There she attended the Troy Primary school before being recruited by Vere Technical, one of the powerhouse high schools on the island in regards to athletics. The School had won the title 17 times prior to her enrollment, including a 14 year run in which they won every title from 1979 right up to 1993. The success came from bringing in some of the most talented children on the island, and Veronica was one such child, in fact she was a super talent.

    I remembered when she cried while on the podium collecting her gold medal in the 2004 olympics in Athens Greece after she won the 200m. Hearing the Jamaican national anthem played at the olympics made me cried as well. Nuff Respect to you my nubian Princess VCB, Jamaica is proud of you.

    Respect VCB.....real powerhouse! If you outdid Merlene Ottey you deserve some accolades! Jamaica really needs to treat their athletes better, not only in mouth service. It’s not easy being a champion from junior years till pro....determination, guts/courage, and hard work.

    She is so good & alot of ppl talking about shelly. veronica is the best out a Jamaican..she won more titles & she was there for long give her respect..Jamaicans too easy to give u away..this girl fight with alots of injury & alway putting out all wat she have

    Give much thanks for this video.
    Well overdue because, in general, there seem to be a “glaring” tendency to undermine this great persons achievements at times.
    Did not see VCB Olympic medal for Australia 2,000 though.
    She was was only 18 years old at the time.
    That makes her greater yet.

      Lets just talk about veronica though. because people seems to forget and only talk about SFP. They forgot that veronica was the one that kinda started in the 2000s era. So i think we should focus on only her right now. So she a least gets this recognition

    Veronica set the trend for her fellow compatriots: Shelly ann and Elaine who are continuing her legacy as well as creating and building their own. She is definitely what a legend should look like. I hope Ms. Sha Carri Richardson is taking note.

      That's true in 1976 and 1980 but given that it was found and documented that she was a part of the east german state doping I "personally" don't count her
