Pyrrha, Sophitia's daughter, has become so dependent on Soul Edge's energy as a result of Tira's previous kidnapping of her that she cannot survive if Soul Edge is destroyed. Sophitia is protecting Soul Edge to keep it, and by extension her own daughter, from being killed.
Didn't she get destroyed by her own son Patroklos in Soul Calibur V and Sophitia really never gave a rat's ass about Patroklos and Pyrrha? Both Patroklos and Pyrrha decided to put the evil away and destroy both Soul Calibur and Soul Edge to restore peace and both siblings Patroklos and Pyrrha go home? Patroklos needed to protect a loved one of his own, his younger innocent looking sister Pyrrha.
