- Hey guys,
in this weeks episode I install a 3 port boost control solenoid into my 2006 Subaru WRX. Since I installed the external wastegate I had to install an aftermarket book control solenoid. This is a step by step on how to do it if you are looking to do it yourself. I am not responsible for any damages done to your car while attempting this, this is just to show you how I did it myself.

So helpful I needed this
Glad I could help man!
Did you block off one side of the hoses on the turbo inlet?
Isn't there 2 hose barbs on the wastegate? I only saw you hook up one line to it?
One is an exhaust port and you definitely don't want to plug it or hook the line into because it'll force your wastegate closed and probably blow your engine
@@KyleHidalgo alright 👍
Didn’t you have 2 fittings on the wastegate? You only ran a vacuum to one of the fittings does the other stay open?
Yeah the other one is just an exhaust so you leave it open
Kyle Hidalgo I’m installing that right now wondering if mine is same way I’m just about doing the same up pipe but with a turbo smart wastegate to my Cobb ebc
Kyle Hidalgo would you mind FaceTiming or chatting to help me I have a few questions should I be feeling a little air coming out from around the wastegate somewhere I have it tight as can be
when you used the 3port boost solenoid. you remove the restrictor pill?
My tuner had me remove it because he can adjust it to what was needed.
Question... you had had two ports on the EWG how come you only connected one?
One of them is just an exhaust port so you just leave it open to vent
The second vent is for a four port set up so you could add pressure to the bottom of ewg and make it so it has a higher boost level. Only needed if you exceed the manufacturer 40 psi limit of spring pressure and head for the max limit of like 60 don't quote me on the numbers exactly
@@KyleHidalgo was that the lower port or the upper that was left alone?
Can I drive the car without a tune, if I wanted to install it then drive to my tuner?
I had my tuner send me a base map. Might be kind of iffy if you drive it without honestly
You can always add parts then drive to tune shop just stay out of boost no flat footing and try to not go over 3000rpm
Hey bro this can also work on a internal wastgate right ?
Yeah as far as I know. It should hook up to the same ports
Great video. Do you have a spare wastegate that you can donate to me
Like a stock wastegate? I think I might have a stock td04 wastegate but that's about it.
@@KyleHidalgo that will work for me thanks.. How will i get it
Message me on Instagram and give me your address. You'll have to pay for shipping though and I'll have to make sure I still have it.
@@KyleHidalgo thanks, will do
Whats the name of your instagram page
You forgot the pill restrictor that goes inside the line?
I talked with my tuner and he said I didn't need it with the boost controller and he worked around it. Car ran fine
Grimmspeed suggests that you remove the pill if you are going ewg
Why have music and talking???!!!
