The "familiar" stand for the size. It only indicates that you get more servings per bottle. It is less skunkiness because the amber glass doesn't allow the light to spoil the beer.
In Mexico they use to sell soda in "tamaño familiar" (family size) bottles and later simply named 2 or even 3 litter bottles depending on the size. Unless I'm wrong I think that's why they printed that on the beer bottles although I don't know why they didn't remove it from the smaller bottles 🤔.

Well family in spanish translates to "familia" and Familiar translates to everything related to family... remember that you gotta consider the "forms of expression" because not everything can be translated literally otherwise it wouldn't make sense. And yes back in the day before PET bottles they use to sell big glass bottles of soda I remember the big old greenish glass bottles of coca cola in big size before they changed the recipe.

If you like these big beers i highly recommend you get the Victoria caguama here in Tx Dallas one of those bad gals cost 3.45 a reasonable price for a night of fun with friends or family!

Try Leon, is a Mexican Munich Dunkel Lager style, kind of similar to Modelo Negra, but I don't think it's exported to the US... It's unique, you'll love it.

That's true Gail, everybody's got their favorites. Yeah, some people put Limes in their beer, mostly its the regular Mexican Lagers, but not this kind, this one doesn't need a Lime, and isn't really the style that gets a lime in it, it may taste alright with one, but for my personal preference, I probably wouldn't use one in there. Just had my 1st one last night, Very good. 4.8% ABV. The dark bottle prevents light passing through t from causing the skunkiness as well.

Try Leon, is a Mexican Munich Dunkel Lager style, kind of similar to Modelo Negra, but I don't think it's exported to the US... It's unique, you'll love it.

That's true Gail, everybody's got their favorites. Yeah, some people put Limes in their beer, mostly its the regular Mexican Lagers, but not this kind, this one doesn't need a Lime, and isn't really the style that gets a lime in it, it may taste alright with one, but for my personal preference, I probably wouldn't use one in there.
