    It's always fun to see what people have in their stash. I thought your video was quite refreshing because I can tell that you use the stuff you have because you love it and you focus on making the most of it instead of accumulating tons of supplies (I am totally guilty of that lol). I really like the idea of being happy with what you have. You're inspiring me to be a bit more mindful!

      Thank you so much for the lovely comment 🤗💗 Yes, I am definitely happy with it! Nothing wrong with accumulating supplies, I can definitely confirm it makes me happy when I do buy something new!! So as long as your collection, large and small, makes you happy, that is wonderful!! 🤩💗

    Shelly, I love how you have supplies that you use and show people that you do not have to have every single art supply that YT’s show on their channel to create STUNNING art work! I got caught up in that rat race and realized all the $ I was spending and not even touching most of it. I love your videos and love all of your art work. Thanks for being so genuine and keeping it real🥰😘🤗👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

      Thank you so much for such a lovely comment Shelly! I definitely think buying lots of supplies is not a problem 😂 I know that when I do buy something, without a doubt it definitely makes me happy!! So I think, whether a small or large collection, as long as it makes you happy, it's totally worth it! 🤩💗

    I agree with you don't change if something works I love Faber castell pencils too very good value for the money. Don't get caught in all the hype of buying just use what works for you, your colouring skills are amazing. ( I am a minimalist with everything else in life) just I do have to watch when it comes to my hobby's, I feel if I have too many products to choose from it stresses me big time so less is better. Happy colouring hope to see many more colouring videos from you, you are a good teacher xx

      Thank you so much for your lovely comment 🤗💗 Yes I agree - it is really hard to keep control when it comes to hobby's because it makes us happy! But the best thing is if you enjoy using what you have! As long as the whole experience of colouring is enjoyable, then it is totally worth it! 🤩

    I am of the same principle: usually I buy 1 set of a certain product. Am I satisfied? Then I don't buy an alternative. I also try to see if I can buy something open stock. I get nervous when I see that something is almost run out and I can't re-purchase it. Nice to see a RUclipsr not buying everything available. I can’t buy the Tombows here in Belgium open stock so I am saving up for the FC pitt pens. 🙏❤️

      @shelscolouringjourney  2 года назад +2

      I am so glad there is someone else out there like me 😂 Yes, I too will usually buy something that I can buy open stock - so my pencils, Tombows and NeoIIs so far are all possible open stock. The next material on my radar is watercolour paints eventually...so I will try and look for one that is open stock for that too 😂
      I have heard the FC Pitt pens are meant to be great!! That will be lovely to have in your collection 🤗💗

      @@shelscolouringjourney totally get it! I have the 15set of the neo II’s and I love them so I am saving up for them too. So the Neo II’s and the FC pitt pens are the only two supplies on my wishlist. I love the fact that the FC pitt pens are waterproof after drying so I can use water mediums afterwards 😀 LOL

    Love your video. I really admire that you know what you like and stick to it. I love my Albuert Duer pencils and Neo color 2s. I have to say I have more pencils than I need, but I love using them all. Need to work on sticking to a few quality items.

      Thank you so much!! I am so glad you love the Albrecht Dürer's too! 🤗💗 Not at all, if you love using different pencils, and you have them in your collection, don't worry about sticking to just a few items!! Have fun with everything you have - so may colourists are able to work with many different brands and mediums on one page and do amazing work! I am the kind of person who sticks to what they know, and get stressed out with too many options 😂😂💗

    I live in Trinidad and for me art supplies/brands are not available. So I watch art supplies videos and pictures that colorist have done and then I feel the need to buy that same art supplies. Buying supplies is an addiction that I have given into. Looking at your stash compared to mine I would say yours is more loved and you have become accustomed to your supplies. I have bought so many that I can now barely find inspiration to finish a page or chose a medium that I would want to use but I am practicing with them 😅 Hopefully I get better. Fingers crossed 🤞

    The frugal crafter has a RUclips video on how to make those trays from your Castle art pencils.. i have the supracolors soft from caran d'ache which are the same, but thinner, as the Albrecht durer pencils.. but I can't seem to use them without water..😆 I have a small set of neocolor 1 and I just use the white because it is great as a wax resist with the neocolor 2 or other water soluble pencils.

    I do the same thing with supplies. I watch and read a lot of reviews before I purchase art supplies, and it takes me awhile before I commit to purchase something. I guess I am picky, and perhaps a creature of habit. Like you, I tend to use mostly the same things continuously because I get good results with certain things. and I'm experienced with certain supplies. I probably do not have that much either compared to most, but I don't want to waste money with stuff I will never use and have it sit and collect dust. I have a small set of Neocolor II's (30 set) and I am not very good with them wet. I have tried to use them many times but I just can't seem to get the same results as others. I am not sure what I am doing wrong? I didn't really know you could use them dry. I would love to see a video of how you use them dry? If you are up to it, and if you haven't already done one on it. Your video was not boring at all. I enjoyed seeing your supplies, thank you for sharing!

      I am glad to see I am not the only one who is like that....I definitely tend to stick to materials I know well, especially as I feel that is what makes colouring a page easy, relaxing and enjoyable for me. 😂
      Hmm, I think Neocolor IIs take some time to get used to, although I am definitely still new at them. I have never done a whole page with them dry...I usually tend to first do a wet base and then occasionally top up areas with dry Neo II. I would love to show my process of how I work with them, so will try and get round to it soon! Thanks!! 🤗💗

    I have that 120 set of Castle arts colouring pencils. I absolutely love them, they are the only pencils I have though, can't afford any of the expensive ones. But I do hope one day that I'll be able to buy prismacolours.

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  2 года назад +1

      That's great to hear!! It's good that you love your Castle Arts.....when you enjoy the pencils you work with, the whole experience of colouring a page becomes even more enjoyable and relaxing....whatever pencil brand it is that suits your style! 🤩💗
      Hope you get the prismas at some point....I have never tried them, but they come across as great pencils!! 🤗

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 2 года назад +1

      The Castles are actually a really nice pencil. That said if you want you can always just buy single prismas to replace the colors as you run out. I'm doing that with my polychromos.. I expanded a small set of polys with the much cheaper goldfabers and am just replacing them with the higher end as I go. It is a bit easier with faber castell because all their pencils have the same colors and numbers.. but there are tons of prisma swatches online so it should be easy to find a decent match for your castles.

    Great video! I have been thinking about trying the distress inks, but it seems the packs contain quite different colours. I would like to get one or two packs with colours that would blend nicely. Any advice?

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  Год назад +1

      Thank you 🤗
      Oooh, that is a tough question! But to be honest, when I first tried out the distress inks, I too wanted one pack that I could use the colours together before I decided on spending on more distress inks.....
      The first pack I bought was Kit 3 which has Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Black Soot....they are basically different shades of brown and a black. They were great together and can give an old paper kind of look....however of course they are slightly boring colours.
      And the other early pack I had was Kit 8 - Ripe Persimmon, Crushed Olive, Tumbled Glass and Dusty concord. The blue and purple go well in that pack
      Kit 17 has 2 blues and a purple that may go together too.
      I hope this helps a little....but when I look at the kits I have, it is really hard to use all the 4 colours from 1 kit together. I think Kit 3 is the only one I feel I could, but they are the boring browns 😂

    • @kirstendecoster3201
      @kirstendecoster3201 Год назад

      @@shelscolouringjourney Thank you for this great info! I’m not a big fan of browns, so I’ll probably go for pack 8 or 17. Maybe I can find a second pack that will go well with one of those.

  • @waymire01
    @waymire01 2 года назад

    I find small supply sets much more helpful to see than the large ones... many simply collect everything and it tells you nothing about whether or not they prefer the item or why. Half the time they haven't even used the majority of them.

    • @shelscolouringjourney
      @shelscolouringjourney  2 года назад

      I think the more we get, even with books or anything else really, the harder it is to get round to using everything we have I guess. But I think some people are good at combining lots of their materials together on one page - I am very bad at that, I find it quite challenging (and stressful for me) mixing brands of pencils etc. 😂

  • @rileytherandom

    tbh i think it's kinda unhealthy how much stuff other people have, not that I'm judgin.
    Just notice how much excess people have that never get used.

      Thank you for taking the time to watch 🤗💗 I think a small collection works best for me but for others more options in supplies probably work for them. The main thing I think is that if it makes you happy, whether it is big or small, that is what counts 🤩💗
