In the spotlight: Bob Murphy, computational biologist in CMU's School of Computer Science

Robert F. Murphy and his colleagues pioneered the use of machine-learning methods to analyze microscopic images of structures even smaller than cells. He developed the first undergraduate courses in computational biology and now leads CMU's Computational Biology Department.
