Commercials were better back then! Ads riffing on Mozart, Huey lewis, the Isley brothers! My son loved ren and stimpy, and ya gotta love cheese ball Loveline and Pals 2am ads. Thanks Dave, another gem!
Hey, I actually envy you. Going into college during a time when you weren't worried your classes were going to be pushed to Online because of a pandemic.
Look in the mirror and ask: When was the last time you've watched The NeverEnding Story? Edit: I grew up watching Punky Brewster, Saved By the Bell, Ren and Stimpy and I thought I was the only one that remembered You Can't Do That on Television, we still turned out alright, right?
These commercials will be 30 years old in a few months. I remember them like yesterday. If you could go back and tell your younger self something, what would it be???
Simple: "The worst problems you have right now are the best things I wish I had again -- what will happen in 30 years' time will be nothing short of ugly and heartbreaking."
I remember when I went to Universal and at the Nickelodeon thing they offered to dump green slime on a kid. I was so bummed I didn't get to do it until I heard all of the instructions "DON'T let it get in your ears!, OKAY wear this jumpsuit, ALRIGHT sit in this kiddy pool", they kinda took the magic out of it lol.
Disney afternoons all the way! By the time Dark Winged Duck came out I was growing out of it. The Simpson's came out and me and Bart were the same age. You forgot Nikit Night, Are you afraid of the dark and that show on the dude ranch. At one time on wgn and tbs you could watch saved the bell 4 episodes a day.
We have a channel 31 news here in Huntsville. When I saw the commercial for the Disneyland trip, I was thinking Channel 31, WAAY-31? Coverage you can count on. Lol
I miss the kids show "you can't do that on television" that "alistair" section at the end, used to have a satellite dish and got the signal from Canadian satellites down here in the US in the 80s. There was no US equivalent (that I knew of at least.)
I wish there where more but thankfully my home state of South Carolina still has 2 going, The Big Mo in Monetta SC, and The Highway-21 Drive-in in Beaufort SC. I've been to the Big Mo a few times as it's an hour drive for me, and they have 3 screens usually with double feature on each one, and broadcast the audio on low power FM, plus the food is 1/2 decent, or you can bring your own but no glass allowed.
@@westreadwell9675 I live in LA. There used to be one in almost every community up until the late 80s here. VCRs and high property values did them in. :(
Great to see the old commercials Dave, to see some of the actors again like they used to was worth the thumbs up alone! I really hope your channel keeps growing man, I love the stuff you come up with:) Thank you!
So let me get this straight..in the 80's and 90's, the hotlines are for meeting new "friends" or potential love interests then in 2000's, it was all about hotlines for lawyers and/or law firms. Sorry, the monotone jingle for a law firm [with an animation of a car driving] from UPN became embedded in my mind. It was from Maury commercial break.
Tale spin was good but I liked Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, and Ducktales the best, Darkwing Duck was alright, but Bonkers was like WTF?!?! was Disney thinking.
When you just listened and made auto love making, without knowing who was at the other side of the line. Could have been a goddess, could have been Laura Bush.
Ah yes channel 31, Snickers icecream and those constant Cal Worthington Florin Road Chevrolet commercials... The Sacramento/Central Valley area was a whole different world back almost 30 years ago. It's gotten alot better in some aspects but much more lame in others considering how all the fun/cool/unique stuff from back in those days closed down now :( Thank you for the nostalgia though, 91 was a cool year (one of my favorite years for film btw)
I was a 10-year-old in small town Ohio when these aired. But spent much of my adult life in the Sacramento/Davis area. I'd give anything to see what it was like back then!
@@dorseykindler9544 It varied a lot. Sacramento had more crime back then but also more fun stuff like arcades/malls/small amusement parks/different restaurants/bowling alleys (almost all of them have long since closed down) while Davis (where I lived as a kid for a few years after my parents divorced) was way more small-town before all the chain restaurants, housing developments and such.
I hadn’t noticed that😂 I was like...”...first minute free-and $15 a minute thereafter..”😳 Damn did I pick the wrong career! My stupid guidance counselor never said I could get rich taking to jerks on the phone 😂
Ah yes the good days when Disney was not woke garbage losing billions of dollars, while pandering to the CCP, and thanking them like sheep to get their crappy movies made.
Commercials back then were mini lit movies tbh 👏🏾👐🏽💯
Oh my gosh. I grew up in Sacremento in 1991. I watched this block.
Same here... was a lil kid in Winters actually but still technically the 916 back then LOL
Yes.
How about the hostage crisis?
I didn’t grow up in the 90s but this is still nostalgic.
I was working at a BK when they introduced the Snickers ice cream bars. Those things are so good.
They are delicious!
Yeah back when BK had decent food, now its a pile of crap with bad advertising and bad mixed variations of meals, complete crap!
Mmmmm.

Graduated college in 1991. It’s only gone down hill since
Love you
Oh.
I was 8 in 91 but I have a lot of memories from then
You are so right 👍👍
Good.
Whoa. I remember this channel vividly!! I grew up in Stockton, California. Thanks for the memory rewind!!
Ahh the year I was born! Excellent year!
This is why I don't sleep until 3am good job dave
We all miss this America..............well most of us! I mean Snickers Ice Cream bars at Burger King?
Agreed I miss it as well I was still in school at this time off year
They actually still have them! 😁 Only at Dollar Tree
Yeah, this is my meaning of "Make America Great Again" lol
Oooooh.
New subscriber! Love old commercials. Definitely glad I found this channel.
1991: end of freshman/beginning of sophomore year of college for me. Damn, I am old! 🤣
as of year 66 & 99
Those were my best times in life, late 80s early 90s, the music the movie's the styles just the the best, now it's horrible
But we were there . Love ya

You Can't Do That On Television!!! 🤘🔥📼🔥💥😎
The Disney Afternoons and You Can’t Do That On Television, I watched those

Wow, I used to watch this channel back then.
1991 was the year that brought us a lot of great media; Sonic the Hedgehog, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and Jim Henson's Dinosaurs.
Disney afternoons were genius. I don't think it's nostalgia times were legit more uplifting
Coming home from school, settling down to watch the Disney Afternoon until dinnertime... Those times were the best. ☺

It shows the name Michael Phelps (the best swimmer ever, who did, in fact, prove it).
