Can a failing alternator trigger reduced engine power and also cause the engine to die? Also, when switching to reverse after a long drive the vehicle loses power. I've replaced throttle body, TPS Wires, gas pedal sensor and still have this issue. My exhaust smells of carbon mox, could Catalytic Convertor be the culprit? 2003 1500HD. 390k miles Truck runs fine beside this issue that started a half year ago.
