Yes but those Muslims are not 'bigots' for refusing to wear that. And we shouldn't have to wear it because of empathising with them. This guy is trying to justify it.
@CordobaGeneral1234 'Bigot' - Noun; a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, or opinion, that is prejudiced against or antagonistic towards a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.
Then the same players should also refuse to wear shirts with gambling sponsors if they want to uphold their religion so much. This is just hypocrisy of the highest level
I get the point but the simple truth is gay rights movement is MUCH bigger than the fotball betting sponsor craze and we shouldn't have it thrown in our faces. IMO we shouln't let fotball be affected by political,or other. dividing and controversial topics. Videos like this are why I am so glad Maxwell is such a prominent and much needed voice in the football community. My brother-in-law and his husband have been diehard Chelsea fans all their lives, same as me. But due to the abuse they both have received from fans across the country, whether it be when they wear pride badges or when they hold hands or show any normal affection, they have both refused to come with me to any games home or away for four years now. Football is a game for everyone, it's not difficult to simply be accepting and tolerant of your fellow human being and I truly hope one day my brother in law and his partner can attend a game without the fear of being targeted for abuse and fearing for their safety simply because of who they are.
thanks for sharing their story- it’s important to recognise that the problem isn’t just ‘people leaving mean comments online’, bigotry translates to real world abuse and violence.
As a Chelsea fan, we literally call ourselves the Pride of London and yet we're this homophobic. Disgraceful that the fans seem to think Pride stops just at the blue lion. I hope they can find a supportive group of fans soon.
This is completely different. If players were forced to wear armbands or training shirts that said stop lgbt hate or stop homophobia there would definitely be less pushback from players because it aligns with their beliefs or at least christian beliefs of love. Wearing rainbow armbands or shirts are very different though because they show support and put many players in a difficult position.

When it comes to the argument about Islam and gambling, it is a strong one, and we should expect our brothers to have a backbone regarding this (there have been Muslim players who refused to wear kits with "haram" sponsors before). However, I think there is a miscommunication regarding how Muslims are expected to treat homosexuals. Yes, Islam does prohibit it, with quite hefty prices to pay if Islamic law was practiced. That doesn't mean you'll find Muslims slapping every gay man they see if they visit a country in the west. Islam doesn't instruct us to be violent, not against homosexuals, not against anyone, it instructs us to remove ourselves from the situation entirely. We keep to ourselves, we're not going to go out of our way to try and forcefully stop LGBT movements in countries where they are supported, just like how we expect people to not be obnoxious about things we do that they may not agree with. We come in peace, and if we disagree, we'll stay silent and try and move on Any "Muslims" shouting profanities towards homosexuals, irl or online, are not following Islam like they should be, and you should feel free to tell them that
I have a genuine question/statement and I hope your read this…I am a Catholic and it is of my beliefs, my culture, and the way I was raised that LGBTQ is a sin, same as gambling or anything else all are wrong in my humble opinion, obviously you would disagree and that’s fine. So for me personally, I can’t bring myself to wear something that I disagree with. Yet that dosent mean I don’t care about people. One of my best friends is Lesbian, and just because I disagree with some of her actions dosent make me respect her as a human any less…I trust her with my life lmao. I feel like many people who disagree with LGBTQ are unfairly grouped with people who say terrible things online, and I agree those people are awful humans, no matter what I believe it is wrong to shame and get in someone’s business. I don’t believe LGBTQ should be illegal, nor do I care if other people support it. Because at the end of the day, I’m my own person and can only control my actions, so I don’t rly care what other people do. I only have a problem if I am looked down upon or called a bigot because I simply disagree with something. In our would today we should be past the part of childish arguments over disagreeing, and be able to talk about our disagreements and find common ground. Though my good friend, I understand you position a lot more than I did when I was younger, and it is my hope that you might understand mine…if there is anything you strongly disagree with let me know and educate me, I just want to find common ground…
Mazraoui refusing to wear an lgbtq jacket while playing for a club known as the RED DEVILS whose shirts literally have a badge of a RED DEVIL on it when his religion is literally ISLAM of all things was hilarious
A lot of religious people, especially Muslims (speaking from personal experience), think of homosexuality like one of the worst sins you can conmit. Religion really makes you incapable to freely think sometimes.
@IrrelevantGuy its because in the quran about the story of our prophet lot (peace be upon him)was sent to his people who went too much into degeneracy to the point they started rejecting the opposite gender to doing it with their own gender, lot (pbuh) offered his daughters to the people but they refused and after trying to give them the word of god, they declined and exiled him, so god vaporized them all from existence. And also in hadith muhammad (saw) said whoever has interfourse with the same gender or anither animal to kill the man and the annimal
I just think this says more about where we are at this point in time. I agree with all your points, and there shouldn't be a big deal against it. But it's not just football, all institutions are heading this way. It's not that the message is wrong, it's that these corporations will pander to anything that will drive engagement. It's a joke at this point, every company suddenly adopts a new group of values during the month of October, and then drops it almost immediately after.
1. Isn't it better than coperations supposedly doing nothing if it gets to lgbtq month 2. Are they really trying to engagement farm when they do the lgbtq thing? 3. Infact wouldn't they have more engagement bait if they didint do anything at all?
@@ronel7836 This is the crux of the issue. Most corporations do follow through during pride month, because now if they didn't, they would get criticized. but that also drives engagement. But I think this is a whole different topic, and it's one that many corps use to drive engagement from people from every political spectrum. Doesn't matter what you'll say, you'll still piss someone from some group off. But none of it makes sense for me. Like Maqwell said, what are you trying to get at with your message? If these people truely believed in 'equality for everyone'.. then wouldn't everyone be playing in a Premier League team of their choice? Wouldn't we have teams made of men, women, people from the lgbtq community etc. all in the same squad if it was truely the case? Wouldn't the Premier League and other corporations make a big deal about all the wars, those are human rights in danger too aren't they? But the fact is, these do pick sides
@phryg2035 Captilism is basically maximizing profits, right? If so, I dont think the reason for putting up lgbtq flags is because of the capitalistic system, idk.
@@vexedgaming4979 i do get what your saying in theory, but I think it's more nuanced than that, especially when you have religion, women, men, and everything else in the books. I think just showing the flag already shows a sign of a message about acceptance in the football community, it makes people aware that that type of thing does exist in the world and needs the spread of awareness ( i do think they need to do better in having the "talk" about why there doing it or doing it more bluntly (?)).

The men's game is lightyears behind the women's game for acceptance. I only hope it'll get better at some point.
Personally? I think you have hit the nail squarely on the head. I have this strange view that, if someone's religious beliefs mean they hate me and would happily either suppress me, oppress me, criminalise me (again), attack me, execute me, or all of the above - then I owe that 'person' no respect whatsoever. And I certainly have no respect for their religion, their culture...or anything related thereto. For me? They say 'respect us'. I say no. I say to them, NO. Not until you accept all of us, as we are, with zero questions asked, zero bigotry, zero hatred, zero religious nonsense - not until you. Accept. Us. As. We. Are. Being nice, and gentle, hasn't worked...and won't ever work.
You want to be accepted, but immediately assume because someone disagrees with you they hate you. People use such strong language and don't even understand what they're saying. Try looking at it from their perspective. Just because I do not think something is moral, does not mean I hate the person.
I'm saying this as a bisexual football fan, I'm falling rapidly out of love with the game, unless it's MLS I usually don't even keep up with football the way I used to, and unfortunately a major reason as to why is because of the rampant homophobia in the sport, I know when I'm not welcome and I just don't engage anymore, I hardly even keep up with my club in England (Leicester) because that kinda shit always finds its way in no matter what over there, I can't celebrate a Jamie Vardy goal without later going on instagram to see people spamming the gif of him kicking a rainbow flag (taken way the fuck out of context btw) it fucking sucks dude, I love this game but it hasn't shown me any love back
Gonna be sharing this cause I feel like yes in the football space but in other sports too. Cause I know when this topic gets brought up anywhere else within the sports community it’s like such a topic that a lot of people are like so irritated to even begin with and it’s like well I understand you don’t wanna see this but it’s spreading the diversity and to tell those that ofc they belong within the sports that they support. I feel like the amount of backlash and hate is unnecessary and should never be apart of anything anywhere. Maqwell you done did what you could do and I respect you for it 🙏🏼💙
In my opinion the players should be able to have the freedom to decide for themselves whether they want to show support to political movements or not. It is evidently not precise to say that pride is an exclusively anti-hate movement, when they push gender identity politics that is not in accordance to biological reality, and that they force fundamental changes on different religions especially christianity. No one deserves hatred for agreeing or disagreeing with beliefs as these, but they are certainly political. And calling people that disagrees with your views “ignorant bigots”, will surely not convince them to change their minds. I suggest focusing on the arguments themselves will have a better effect to cause positive change in general.
Thank you for commenting on this. The more and more years i got on, the more and more i lost interest of football. Cause of reasons that you've said. I'm not trying to say that one is a greater evil than the other- but as someone who teaches and works with super impressionable children/ the next generation of society, I can confidently say that I witness more casual homophobia from day to day than I've ever seen casual racism from day to day in schools- despite the idea that racism is as bad as its ever been. Its like kids are completely aware that prejudice is an awful thing- but with the exception of homophobia, which continues to be something of a 'well I have an excuse for it- my religion tells me not to like it' approach. It really baffles me how hypocritical some of these arguments are as well, given how certain aspects of religion are flat out ignored (E.g. in Christianity, Leviticus suggests that Christians kill non believers, as well as things such as 'you should only eat fish on Fridays'). It's nothing more than an excuse to be wilfully ignorant and it genuinely confuses the hell out of me.
I understand what you are saying, but you have to understand that saying jesus loves you, is a very common phrase used by some christians to be bigoted. He might not have meant it, then it's a misunderstanding. But you can imagine how queer people who face that kind of hate everyday would not have a charitable look at that.

I think, one thing is probably missing and should be took in consideration, is the social environnement and condition the player are coming from. It's really easy to take position against homophobia when you come from a country where being queer is legal and mostly accepted (i don't say being queer is totally accepted in England for example, but for sure more than in central asia or west africa) but for players coming from countries where LGBT is highly unacceptable, it can leeds to social pressure from the family, the friends, the medias toward them. Yes they still have their own opinions and they can take position the way they want, but we cannot isolate the fact that what such famous players say can be used against them in in a certain context. I know my take can sound a little bit cowardly, in a context where homophobia is a real thing in football. But just always blaming players decision without knowing their background or situtation can sometimes also lead to shortcuts
religious people who hate any type of people at all defeat the whole purpose of the religion. as a Christian you're supposed to live in God's image and God is supposed to love everybody, not pick and choose who to love based on their sexual orientation. i swear its not hard to just be a good person.
Okay, so why must the people who do not want this get fined or ridiculed or whatnot? Your view of our theology is completly wrong, or at least I speak as a catholic. Love is not just agreeing with everything other person wants, that would be absurd and you know it. Assuring someone who is living in a sinful way that they are holy and doing good thing is just wrong, I admit that there can be a lot of hypocracy about that, but that does not change that it is true. And to your point that being good is easy...Noone is good except God, we should try to get as close to him as it is possible, that is a proces of getting holy, but it is in no mean easy, if it is easy for you I think you should rethink what being good means.

Let's be honest for a second. This is all about money. In the west they can score browny points for putting that stuff on display nowadays so they do it. People are clearly deluding themselves if they think most people in the board rooms wouldn't that sort of symbolism the moment it become unpopular. In fact they do whenever there's an exhibition match or training camp in any country that's more conservative. It's not about a message it's about the wallets of the people who care for it.
@@neckez1239 The reason behind the message always matters. What do you think happens when what's popular changes or more conservative markets become their main sources of revenue? Just like they're now supporting pro diversity messaging they'd likely just as readily support hateful messages instead. For the right price of course. After all we've already seen how morality is of no concern to them with gambling and sports betting.
As much as i agree, as a Muslim, that its spineless to pick and choose what you allow to be on your shirt and what you wont allow and hide behind religion as a reason, this just shows that betting sponsors are a bigger problem in general. I do think the game is trying really hard to support LGBTQ+, sometimes its too much and sometimes its justified. My personal issue with most of these things is that the more representation you allow, the more its gonna be pushed for and at some point you NEED to set a limit. "Enough is enough, you have representation in all these things, why continue to push for more?". Now I'm sure people will think of various specific situations where it needs to be pushed for more representation but that's the beauty of humanity, we can always justify more reasons for what we believe in and that there needs to be more representation of it. No matter what it is, remember that. Now if these players doesn't want to support LGBTQ+, ok that's their choice...or do you want to force them to support lgbtq+? Because that's now a completely different conversation and now you are the one losing the moral justification. I wont support something if i don't feel like it, i will tolerate it existing if there's enough reasons, But i will not be forced into supporting ANYTHING. Ill repeat myself, unless i choose to support someone else's representation, you wont be able to FORCE me to do anything. I also want to say that the LGBTQ+ movement has done amazing progress in the last decades or so when it comes to acceptance and tolerance for these people.
Maqwell's 2025 tour has been consistent bangers so far!!! So glad you're talking about this and the international fans thing, I'm a straight white Brit (Welshman to be exact) and the amount of times I have felt the need to argue with friends and people I know about issues that neither me or they struggle with is insane, and for the most part I just choose to bite my tongue because its usually 1 step forward 2 steps back.
The belief I've held for as long as I can remember about all this is that I just don't care. I don't care about anyone's religion, sexuality, whatnot. I think that's all relatively surface level, because it doesn't say much about a person's actual personality. As long as you're doing your thing without harming others, do your thing. But clearly, there are people with other sentiments. I can relate to the not being accepted thing. I'm autistic. That still comes with massive stereotypes and stigmas. Or people not believing you're autistic because they only associate it with people with more (obvious) support needs. No, I'm not like that. No I'm not the socially inept super genius either. Spectrum, people. It's called a spectrum for a reason. Under a lot of football videos where players do stupid things, I see comments like 'he acoustic or something', or relating weirdness or incapability to autism somehow, which definitely exposes people's ignorance. I mean, sure, I'd classify myself as quirky, but something about those kinds of comments makes it obvious it's not meant to be particularly endearing. My (very unrealistic) dream would be a world where we'd just kind shrug our shoulders when someone is of difference race, sexuality, gender or neurotype, be cool with it and go our merry ways because there's not anything weird or strange to take not of.
Gambling needs more regulations and is very predatory, especially when they target minors. But for the most part, people know what they are getting into, and it is voluntary. It can be a very harmful addiction. Insurance companies are more predatory than gambling, in my opinion. But I believe gambling sponsors should be heavily suppressed when there is a under 18/21 fan base (for example on football shirts as sponsors).
The thing is even if it is their culture some people can choose not to participate, we don't need that in football we don't Come for that. We come for football

I watch the Liga MX from time to time and at the beginning of every match a young kid says a message or two (postive btw) in Spanish (I don't speak Spanish so I don't understand anything) and it is quite inspiring from what I can tell from the stadium reception to the message. Even in Italy when my club Lazio had a few stupid fans who performed some antisemetic behaviour the club made it a policy for the very NEXT GAME to read some pages of Anne Frank diary to hopefully change the fans behaviour and these things work because now Lazio is slowly become an anti racist club and I am saying this as a black fan of Lazio who saw the changes right infront of my eyes. The Prem should take such initiatives as well. Instead of putting rainbow flags and doing nothing, someone who was persecuted by homophobes can just read a 2 minute statement right before kickoff that shows their point of view and why the LGBTQ community needs to be treated with kindness. It will do much better especially when most homophobic fans are from places like Africa or the Middle East (for example) and many have not come in contact with a gay person or even hear their experiences in order for them to understand why they need to be treated like normal humans.

Thank you for this video. As a queer man who loves football, these spaces always felt threatening to me in some degree. These campaigns might feel a bit artificial, but they do help to create a safer environment for everybody over the years.
The only argument I have against the betting sponsorship shirt is what choice do the players have really? It’s not reasonable to not offer the choices for Muslim or Christian players to deny the sponsorship but offer them other ways of letting their voices be heard.
I rarely comment on videos, but thank you for talking about this 🩷 as someone who is from an Islamic family and also is trans it is kinda sad to see people justify hating on other people simply because they are "abnormal". We are still human in the end. Alongside that, so many people in the Indian football community keep throwing around homophobic remarks to make fun of other teams' fanbases, and it is always sad. It is extremely heartwarming to see someone making football content also be very supportive rather than not. Also Celeste Chapter 3 music in the background? Very based :))

The only person who has a point about being forced to not wear a political message on their kit is James McClean. My grandmother was Irish and was very supportive of “the cause”. The British army murdered 13 unarmed civilians in Derry, his hometown. The same group of soldiers a few weeks previously committed another mass shooting, where they shot a priest in the back while he was administering last rites to a dying man. The perpetrators of the crime such as Dave Cleary still walk free and have never been prosecuted. I would feel some kinda way about being forced to wear a poppy too. Not to mention the British legion is a fascist imperialist organization.

With the EPL I'm starting to dread when all the rainbow stuff start to come out purely because of the amount of hatred that comes out of it. With Marc Guehi it felt kinda sly and backhanded that he felt the need to write all of the Jesus messages on the rainbow armband. And with Morsy he should've just given it to his vice captain to wear instead of it not being worn at all.
honestly it's the players choice. The player may or may not agree or like the concept of LGBTQ, but he shouldnt be a douchebag about it or anything. Refusing to wear the band wouldnt be a homophobic gesture in my opinion, its just the freedom of choice every human has
In modern Catholicism, theology changed to differentiate between teaching and out right banning. The Church teaches that homosexually is sinful, in the same way that murder, rape, fornication and gambling is. Its just that, a sin. However it no longer teaches to stone them as punishment because that is simply barbaric and no longer represented the Cathoilic faith. So its more or less the case of "I don't agree with you, but it is your decision so I won't stop you". Above all your exercising your god-given right of free will. So to police what you do with it, especially if your not Catholic or Christian or religious at all is just plain silly. If you want to or not want to wear the arm band or support this cause, thats your free will and we should accept that.
When I was younger I was a supporter, not a huge fan or something, but sometimes i enjoyed watching a match and it gave me good feelings, of Sampdoria, a team which now plays in the second tier of italian football. Then, after realizing that I'm a transgender girl, I had to immediately stop watching matches because I perfectly knew what the people I used to watch it with think about the topic. (I have terrible remembrances of those people, for example, when we all were eleven or something, i remember that a player from the rival team, Genoa, made a huge mistake and was sent out of the pitch. A guy I was friend of at the time said something very transphobic, which i have no intention to type). I feel a weird kind of nostalgia, like what you'd feel when an important, not fundamental but still important, part of your childhood was taken away from you by some asshole. I stopped watching and caring about football, but this video gave me some positive feelings so thank you.
It’s frustrating that talking about this is somehow Political in some peoples eyes. A wrestler showed support for LGBTQ and another old retired wrestler told him to not get political????? Like people who say that, I think are just homophobic and transphobic, exactly like BLM, how is that political when it’s literally shining light on how black people are treated. All in all, these are all just HUMAN RIGHTS!!! It’s not that hard to just show SUPPORT! I love ur channel even more now Maxwell 🤘🏼
Its' political because it is always entirely one sided advocacy and there is never any room for debate. It's just totemic left wing mantras that people aren't even allowed to question without ebbing called a bigot.
Man its just 2 guys wearing a rainbow armband for like 100 mins max. why do people get riled up like that and worst of all their jerseys go against own beliefs as well like the hate towards the band feels so forced 😭
sry bro but its just dumb what are you saying, see i luv your content but what are you saying is wrong , the gambling logos are sponsor to the team , a player cant just refuse to wear his team shirt , in another mean he cant control it , but something like a badge he can just refuse to wear it , im a muslim and respect your cutler ,but my religion dont want us to support the lgbtq , and i chose that i wont wear the badge and its a Personal freedom so dont make us wrong for what we believe man , thank you
about the betting sponsor thing. What? Just because the muslim wears the sponsor but covers the armband he's bigot? (They are, but that's not the point I'm trying to make) As if the betting company leaves him a choice to not show them, no there is no choice, and they're not gonna risk getting fired from their job, the thing they support their family with, just to oppose a company. If you're still saying they should oppose betting companies no matter what, I can only assume you're trying to get them kicked out of the sport. Tldr: They can oppose a rainbow, so they will. They can't oppose a betting company, so they won't.
Thanks for this video. I'm queer myself, and this means a lot to me, and if i showed it to my queer friends. They would probably feel the same way as well. I'm glad that are people like you in the world.
Good topic, and I don't understand the people getting so upset at something that doesn't cause them any harm. Being tolerant and open minded is one of the most important traits one can have imo
It does cause harm. The kids that try to turn trans end up regretting it later in life. There are cases where people that say they are the other gender, go into the other gender restroom and they rape. Personally me, i think you should not advertise that type of stuff. And you should keep things in the bedroom
@@alialt6213 i doesn't harm me because i don't care about gay people, but it doesn't harm him either to wear a fucking armband for 90 minutes. We should grow up and be better human beings
Football is behind on accepting different races and LGBTQ members but football is far far behind on disabled members and fans. Ableism is soo rife in this sport, all sports and society generally
Excuse me this point makes no sense at all. different races? Bro just look up any teams in the country you’ll find players from all over the planet, all because someone is a racist is not representative of the whole climate of football, everyone knows racism is bad whichever way you spin it. Ableism there are literally wheel chair access as front row seats, and transmission commentary for blind fans who come to support their club. What are you on about?
@@oceanmike8516 No, not everyone knows racism is bad. The black players on France's national team were definitely being called slurs for missing their penalties in the last World Cup final. There's fans that protest over their club signing black players. There's videos on this channel showing Asian people being targeted by other fans for simply being at the games. The rest of the world isn't that progressive.
Thank you for making those points when it comes to religion in this arguement, far too often it feels like people just use religion as a cover to push their own personal self hatred on to others.
Truthfully, if they’re Christian, they wouldn’t be actually hating them and I know it seems like a lot of people are actually hating them most truthfully or not they just want them to turn away from sin

If an observant Muslim or Christian has no issue with paid sponsorships by the truly satanic gambling industry, but the rainbow flag is too much, I lose all respect for that player.
thanks for making a video on this topic. its so frustrating that homophobia is still such a big issue especially in the football space and i hope that over time things will improve
I find it harder to respect the movement when it is so obviously promoted by clubs for monetary reasons rather than actually attempting for social change. As for the armband, players should have the option to weather or not wear it. Forcing a belief upon people ,no matter how justified your opinion, can lead to negative effects further on. Muslim is a very popular religion with different factions with their own beliefs. A lot of them disagree with the armband yet respect our opinions. For that reason, we should do the same.

We come in peace, and if we disagree, we'll stay silent and try and move on

A lot of religious people, especially Muslims (speaking from personal experience), think of homosexuality like one of the worst sins you can conmit. Religion really makes you incapable to freely think sometimes.
So u saying united is a satanic institution?
@IrrelevantGuy its because in the quran about the story of our prophet lot (peace be upon him)was sent to his people who went too much into degeneracy to the point they started rejecting the opposite gender to doing it with their own gender, lot (pbuh) offered his daughters to the people but they refused and after trying to give them the word of god, they declined and exiled him, so god vaporized them all from existence.
And also in hadith muhammad (saw) said whoever has interfourse with the same gender or anither animal to kill the man and the annimal
Islam has its own devil that resembles the xtian one
I just think this says more about where we are at this point in time. I agree with all your points, and there shouldn't be a big deal against it. But it's not just football, all institutions are heading this way. It's not that the message is wrong, it's that these corporations will pander to anything that will drive engagement. It's a joke at this point, every company suddenly adopts a new group of values during the month of October, and then drops it almost immediately after.
1. Isn't it better than coperations supposedly doing nothing if it gets to lgbtq month
2. Are they really trying to engagement farm when they do the lgbtq thing?
3. Infact wouldn't they have more engagement bait if they didint do anything at all?
in that case, the problem is less with the actual values and more with the capitalist system that motivates the companies to do this, no?

I'm saying this as a bisexual football fan, I'm falling rapidly out of love with the game, unless it's MLS I usually don't even keep up with football the way I used to, and unfortunately a major reason as to why is because of the rampant homophobia in the sport, I know when I'm not welcome and I just don't engage anymore, I hardly even keep up with my club in England (Leicester) because that kinda shit always finds its way in no matter what over there, I can't celebrate a Jamie Vardy goal without later going on instagram to see people spamming the gif of him kicking a rainbow flag (taken way the fuck out of context btw) it fucking sucks dude, I love this game but it hasn't shown me any love back
such a good take, this is why maqwell is goated!
Insecure teens will hate on it but grown men getting so triggered like spray painting over a mural is cringe af
Rather be woke than asleep.
People getting mad about the "Jesus
I understand what you are saying, but you have to understand that saying jesus loves you, is a very common phrase used by some christians to be bigoted.

The only person who has a point about being forced to not wear a political message on their kit is James McClean. My grandmother was Irish and was very supportive of “the cause”. The British army murdered 13 unarmed civilians in Derry, his hometown. honestly it's the players choice. The player may or may not agree or like the concept of LGBTQ, but he shouldnt be a douchebag about it or anything. Refusing to wear the band wouldnt be a homophobic gesture in my opinion, its just the freedom of choice every human has
The armband is political and that's a good thing. Human rights are political. Not all political viewpoints are equal.
Just a slight correction - homosexuality itself is not a sin, homosexual acts are.
