I know these cheap amps aren't a high-level tech's dream job to work on, but maybe you'll get more eyes for your video side of things because so many more own this type/level of amp, compared to a barely used vintage amp that runs $5k to buy. I own both - handwired and cheap PC board w/thin boards and SMDs, and want to learn about them both. The cheap amps sound good enough to justify throwing reasonable tech time $$ at them for component level repair, but I ease the $$ burden by removing the chassis myself so the tech can focus, and I always provide a schematic. So far, so good. Thanks for another great walk-through.
o love this chaps work . as a pro muso forever like 40 years his the guy id like to fix my gear. Just a tad to far away. And brad the guitaroligist his brilliant to plus stuart uk amp guy..And what freaks me are the trolls that put these guys down..man be grateful you can have such genius to learn from ...anyways
A friend and local amp technician of mine got in 3 of the bigger ones into his shop. When they finally got picked-up, they all caught fire from a band using them as backline a few days into the tour The cabinetry is really bang-on, and I find them pleasant, but it’s a shame the build quality is brutal. Buddy ended up buying one of the toasted ones really cheap from the store and ended up hand-wiring it w/ a turret board in line with the original circuit.
@@benlogan430 oof I feel for you friend. Luckily mine is the NT15H so slightly bigger but still a pain. Would love to get back in it and mod it (more bass, less treb) but dreading it…
@@PsionicAudio Just my wild speculation, but given how people tend to run this sort of amp I'm wondering about flyback spikes exceeding that voltage. Not sure if output stage has NFB or not.
This looks like my Harley Benton GA5/Epiphone Valve Jr on the inside, is it made it China? To be fair those amps are nice inside for their price point, and they are well put together on the outside, but with the same header pin based assembly and sockets.
It's always 30 seconds of actual work in assembly and a collective fraction of a second in design to not cost "Valued Customers", a couple of hundred dollars in repairs and techs many grey hairs and liver scars but here we are, pissing in the wind.
I have found endless possibilities in a scrap two-by-four drilled with holes, routed out with a flathead and hammer, etc. Way quieter than having your wife stand next to you holding things for you and asking why you are doing it that way and how she thinks it should be done a different way. On another note....our 28th Anniversary is coming up! Thanks two-by-four!
I just caught the felt on the back of the ESP style wrench! I love that tip. I use those same wrenches on my guitars and I always use a T shirt or something....but that is so much simpler.
Hey Lyle , This monstrosity does not look like any Supro I own , One of my secret weapons in my arsenal , as a harpoonist , always looking for sound , and differences , Rhythm King 1958 , only a hand-full were made , / for accordion , twin 5X9 , quite the bite ,,,Cheers ...
Hi Lyle, Congrats on a well deserved 60K subscribers!
Oh wow! I didn't even pick up on that. Congratulations Lyle! And Thank You.

I don’t care for Supro tone or build designs. But still enjoyed this video. Nice one.
Two new models coming out soon. The Arc and Spark.
Congrats on 60k! I'm so glad to have found your channel!
Thank you, Lyle.

Supro as a real company, ended in 1968. Possibly related Little Walter died that year too. Great vid Lyle!
Had flashbacks of having to take the board out of my Vox Night Train head at 8:23 lol
I would not wish that on anyone.
@@usualthings-mq1cb hence the “aHAHaHahaha” moment when it finally comes free
I’ve got a lil night train that I bet will be fun to work on?!?!? So small…

Congrats on the 60k! Great video as always!
😎👍👍
Interesting how bean counters design amps eh...?
Passed one of these on because of a bunch of issues!
I wish l didn't buy a Supro!
Excellent video as always! Thank you!
Thanks for the video.
I like to imagine that all the dialog during the speeded up sections is weapons-grade swearing
Not inaccurate.
Maybe Lyle is starting a new thing: "Chipmunking"
Thanks Lyle.👍🏼
Diggin' the chipmunks there pal!
Thanks, Dave!
Lyle just brings them in to hide the cussin and fussin!🐿
Just finishing up a mesa dc3, the work to remove and replace the main pcb far exceeds the actual repair time.
Sharp edges on the chassis. Sliced myself pretty good.
Lots of cramped chassis work plaguing the shops this week. At least you aren't wiring heaters in a tweed chassis!
The best
Great vid as usual Lyle. Would there have been any potential downside to upping the voltage rating of that cathode bypass cap?
Thanks. Aside from lead diameter and spacing, no, but the cathode only has about 24VDC on it in standard use.

Hi Boss. In the future hold up your resisters to the camera and one of the commenters can read out the colors for you.
Mahalo Lyle.

where r these made? tnx
What is that screwdriver holder??? I need one!
Some cheap thing off Amazon. Looks good but can be frustrating to use.

Do I need to call Fender and see if the warranty on my 66 Bassman is still in effect? Hmmm......🤣

Keep an eye out for a Dynacord Amigo, an amazing harp amp (also 2 5x9's)
