      Exactly. The high end of the steel strings is nice. But so are the mids of nylons. It's a rounder sound but not better or worse. Just different. I need both.

    Steels sounds better for the style of riffs you’re playing but nylon sounds really good with their warm tones for other type of music👍

    Totally depends on the song. Here you have what sounds like a Skynrd riff that is done with a nice James Taylor inspired fingerpicking style. So the steel string sounds better here. But it’s a cool comparison to make. I should do this more going forward and not assume one is better than the other for a particular song without trying both first. Great idea!

    Nylon. I am still learning but I wanted a guitar and when it came time for a choice I decided on a classical guitar for all the things that I felt would be easier to learn guitar.

    Steel has a longer more natural ringing of notes and fuller sound. Nylon has a more focused sound over all.

    I have both and I play them according to the vibe. Just get a parlor acoustic with a wide nut like a classical and they will be very similar to play.

    i know this might sound odd to you but,
    i wanted to know how to pick the right strings and add the right notes to the chords like you just did. can you perhaps make a tutorial on it like how can one do that to any chord and make some beautiful sounding fingerpicking pattern and add a few notes here and there. It'd be great help. I'm subscribing.

    Nylon has more resonance and volume, steel has character of metalic materials, metal verb, so if u need to play loud or to play with ensemble (classic as well) use nylon, if u need solos for pop songs or other easy types of songs use steel, it has a great layering under the vocals

    Well, naturaly it depends on what type of music you're playing, for example fast spanish chords sound better with nylon.
    However I prefer Steel

    The steel rang more clear and the nylon a warmer sound. Depending on what styles you play both may be required. Try flamenco / rumba on steel strings and see what happens .

      That would probably hurt because of all the flicking and strumming you do with your fingers in those styles lol I’m sure it would sound cool though

    I've been using a Classical Yamaha for the past 4 years or so, but I also wanted an electro acoustic one, when I'm playing with an amplifier. The thing is size is important, so I ordered a Yamaha APX T2 OVS, which is 3/4, traveler. I got it 2 days ago, I'm still trying it, I have 14 days to change my mind. The thing is I love the sound of nylon and these steel ones hurt my fingers reaaaally bad. But the body is super small and I not sure how nylon strings will sound if I change them.

    If you wanna sing along while playing guitar or for chord progression -> Steel String western guitar
    For fingerstyle playing and music pieces -> Nylon Classical Guitar 👍🏻
