This video was helpful I had no clue what this was!! But I will say I had the same issues had spark had gas but the generator would not run ! Finally decided to not plug the the in and boom she fired right up 👍🏻
From what I been reading it’s a anti Diesel device basically when the generator gets shut off it stops fuel so it won’t keep running.. this was a learning lesson for me because I had the carb off many times wondering why it was sucking fuel into the engine ugh! Had I seen this video first I would have tried that right out of the box ! But noooo lol 😂

The real name is anti-backfire solenoid - stops backfire when ignition is turned off
It’s designed to keep the carburetor from flooding the engine with gas when it’s not running
