I’ve just put Red Shift Top Shelf Bars, suspension stem and a suspension seat post on my Orbea Gain with wider tires to make my 30 mile round commute along tow paths and wet and muddy country lanes a lot more comfortable and its got me enjoying using it again, I did 50 miles on it yesterday and used 60% battery, I’ve just ordered a range extender to hopefully try a few 100 milers, thanks for another great video 👍

That’s why I bought an Orbea Gain D40 a few years ago with so many steep inclines in Ayrshire, However if I go to the coast I enjoy riding along on my Kuota Kharma carbon.
Great video comparison, looking forward to your next …brilliance. Thanks

Good vlog Dave 👍 I have an oldish Giant Defy which is great on a good asphalt route, haven't used it much as its having its cranks assessed as part of the Shimano recall. My Ribble CGR's main advantage is its "all road" single-track/road/gravel ability - except when I got too cocky on a wet road and slid off, just like hitting black ice +mught have been oil/grease as well). Your comparison should really help othwrs decide the pros/cons on which works best for them. Have you considered going "full gravel" spec on the Orbea? Would make your Creo redundant I guess? Glad to see you caught some decent weather for a change 👍

Thank you Paul, I’m thinking of sticking some big gravel tyres on the Orbea like so can do a bit more off road 👌

I did 100 mile ride last weekend on cannondale analogue bike…took 45 mins longer than the orbea gain e-bike on same course… with 1600m climb e-bike used only 53%. And I’m a heavy rider over 98kg. I’ve taken orbea gain to Alpes and it’s roughly 20 mins per climb faster up 1000m ish climbs… green mode 100 setting. Red mode is only required when things get over 10-15% gradient and even I blow past people and I’m fat and 57.. Still also enjoy the cannondale analog bike and thinking about buying the canyon. Good review.

Nice video David! I’m not surprised by the difference in timing. There is no doubt that the Gain will do better with the inclines, I found the same on hilly routes, especially on full assist. However, when you ride lumpy 1 to 5 % terrain, my Endurace is quicker due to the faster pace.
Translating to longer rides, considering the amount of battery you consumed in. Just 4 miles, one can see how little you’d get out of it at full assist.
If would be interesting for you to do exactly the same with the green and orange assist levels. I found the green took the weight difference of the bike away on the hills. So the orange level is the only really beneficial level for the combination of assist and range.
I know people who turn it off completely on flat and gentle terrain, but in comparison you’ll find the Endurace much quicker.
Will you put 35 gravel tyres on the Endurace?
    See what you think.

Thank you Neil, on the tyres yes once I’ve used these I might stick gravel tyres on, the roads here are terrible, but finding the ones on it at the mo really good 😊

@@LakeDistrictcyclist I found the same when I was there last July. Some of the roads in the lower Peak District around Nottingham and Derby and even Cheshire were terrible. They were much better in Northumberland and the Berwick area of Scotland. At times I was glad I had 40 inch tyres on a cheap gravel bike.
I have 30 mm 5000TR which I run tubeless and find them a great trade off between comfort, speed and safety. That being said, I minimise riding in the wet and we don’t have frost or ice in Sydney. We do have potholes though.

Nice comparison, but which gave you the most joy/satisfaction? I also use my wifes Stromer speed pedelec (she commutes with it 210 km/week) when I need to go to our nearest larger town for some shopping, 17 km's from home. I enjoy it as I get even faster and cheaper into the city centre then going by car, but I really enjoy my longer rides on the CF8 race bike more. But to be honest, we don't have those climbs as you do.

The canyon just, I like the light feel and now I’m a little fitter can handle the climbs a little better now. Not much in it though both fantastic bikes 😊

Hi nice video as always. I was shocked 4 miles 31% of battery. I used my gain red setting sport mode 100%. In a bad day I got about 20 miles of range. Good day with good legs 30miles. My battery lost about 40% over 600 charges. Living in a hilly area as you. Are you sure your battery is ok? I was thinking to change the battery but seeing that numbers I think mine still doing well.

Yes used it even when I didn’t need it for the test and some steep climbing 466 ft I think but don’t know if battery is 100% tbh thank you for watching 😊
