I just demo'd a Boom MP and bought one afterwards. I found power was really good, control was good, volleys and serves were amazing. I felt a lot of control unlike the others I demo'd.
Thanks for another great review. I tested the Boom Pro and MP and also preferred the MP. I also own the Extreme Tour and agree that the feel and control of the Extreme Tour (with some lead tape added) is better than the Boom Pro. As many reviews have noted, the Extreme Tour becomes a great racket once you add some lead tape.
Totally agree on the Extreme Tour's power level being lower than the Head rating. I've tried two different rackets with different strings and it's considerably lower powered than the Speed MP for example. I would say it's 300-400 on the Head scale. What's interesting about the ET is that the beam is described as 21-23-22 (and tapered beams typically give power), but if you measure it most of the beam is a constant 22mm, so very similar to a Pro-Staff 97 (a low powered frame). Perhaps Head put the pre-preg for the ET into the wrong mold! Great racket though. I'm thinking of trying the ET with gut & alu-power (Champions Choice) to see if a bit more power can be extracted.
I live in brazil and somhow i could buy directly from head brazil and got mine last tuesday. I bought pro and i think I got it right. Huge controllable power. 98 head frames are my favorites. If you are a big hitter who likes control, go to the pro definitely
Cara.
Thanks for the great work on the channel!! I demo'd the both Pro and the MP and also preferred the MP, as it just felt better at contact. So I now have the MP and will use it as a platform racquet. I also own the Extreme Tour (strung weight = 342g w/Advantec grip) and by comparison the MP is only 312g strung, so it has lots of potential for adding 10-30g of weight.
Excellent review. I am demoing a Boom MP but i feel without customization it is a little unstable. I want to keep the head light aspects so i was thinking of adding a heavier grip e.g. Fairway leather and 4oz lead from around 10/2. I think the swing weight should also increase to around 320 which would be comfortable to me. I use the PD plus and add lead tape around the 10 and 2 positions too but want a more arm friendly racket without losing too much power. will use triax or a hybrid of VS gut in mains and Triax in crosses strung around 54/ Keep up the good work.

Great video. I have seen another review where the swingweight of the Boom MP was just about 300. Not 318 as listed per Head. Could you measure what you get please and advise?
Thank you for pointing out the similarity to the classic Bianchi color scheme. After seeing this racquet I knew there was something familiar about it, but I couldn't place it.
5:57 That's why the CPI scale is pretty pointless imho. For enthusiasts it's not self-consistent enough to provide any info and to people who don't know it can be misleading if they use it as gospel instead of a rough guideline.
Agree that HEAD’s relatively new CPI scale is not as nuanced and representative as say Prince’s Power Level scale which has been used for longer and spans multiple racquet generations. One big difference is that CPI (currently) only has steps of 100 whilst Prince PL has smaller steps of 25. HEAD previously had the old L(ong)-S(hort) swing scale but unfortunately, has never made any attempt to provide a comparative side-by-side with the current CPI scale which would have helped gaining familiarity with CPI.
Hi Jonas, coming from the Speed MP could you pls compare the Booms to this one? I'm looking for sth quite similar to the Speed MP but a bit more forgiving.
I've played the Boom Pro, now the Speed MP. The non-glossy part of the Boom felt very cheaply finished in comparison to the Speed. Like more "harsh" in my fingers. Am I right about it?
Hi Jonas, thanks for the comparison review 👍 Had tried Extreme Tour, with some customization it plays great but i don’t 100% connect with the ball and that’s my number 1 priority. So switched to Pro Staff 100, feel is great 👍 but sweetspot is still relatively small for a 100, esp on my one-hander. How would you compare Boom MP (with customization) against Pro Staff 100?
