The FIFTY - 40/50 - Part 1 - The Bugs to Rogers Traverse
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 сен 2024
- Possibly the most iconic multi-day traverse in North America, the Bugs to Rogers Traverse spans three mountain ranges, 80+ miles of distance and over 30k vertical feet of elevation gain. Though the challenges don’t come in the numbers alone, the route is littered with complex navigational challenges, sudden and savage storms, crucial and consequential decision making and surviving in the wild with nothing but your wits and what’s in your pack. It’s no meadow skipping glacier cruise, the Bugs to Rogers Traverse a full on test of mountain skills and mental grit.
This is Part 1 in a 3-part episodic series of The FIFTY documenting the classic line, the Bugs to Rogers Traverse. Part 2 will be released on December 14th, 2022 and Part 3 will be released on December 28th, 2022.

We need an "uncut" longer version of these!
YOU can always wait til 2 and 3 come out and watch it in full.....lol
@@Whistler326 that’s not what uncut means… he wants the pieces they cut out
@@Axemanvan we get it bro
@@Axemanvan did you see LOL
@@Axemanvan Litterally just watch them skinning for hours, watch Bjorne fliming them coming up a skin track for 20 mins. Listening to the quietness of the mountains. Love it.
Bjorne’s effort in filming such amazing shots is incredible. You guys are awesome and the quality is super high
Bjorne must have had extra weight of extra batteries :D
12:04 using skis to anchor down the tent is genius
That's a really nice episode, as usual! Although I do admire the insanity of getting new boots and new inserts for a multi-day traverse.
That power move from Bjarne at 14:00, another great episode guys!
He knows his cameras
@@CodyTownsend we Swedes have a proud history of excellence in film making. I mean, swedish po..... nevermind.
Continued thanks for making these videos! Love watching you guys wander through the snow & mountains while I sit in my snow covered Jacuzzi at home. Keep the content coming.
Gah! What a cliffhanger! Can't wait for the next one, as always!
Bjarne is the GOAT!!!
No kidding ..Bjarned has filmed the who's who of Ski mountaineering....What a CARREER ....he rocks (Sweden's Finest)
Absolutely loved this episode! Great filming by Bjarne and the music was excellent. You guys rock!
Ya I was liking the music too.
The music in this one is awesome!
The attention to detail in the filming and editing is fucking awesome
This 1 is just crazy! And that looked like a critter dragging away some bags in the end teaser there, that can't be good. Roll on Part 2
Nothing like having a case of the ol' brown blizzard when you're miles into the backcountry. Now, that's living!
A cliffhanger, great!!! Love it!
What’s up Cody! Always great to see what adventures you’re up to! Amazing project you’re doing!
The hanging glacier and seracs @ 8:28 were beautiful yet frightening! The Canadian Rockies are on another level! Good call on the route adjustment with the impending storm and new loading. Hope the food cache survived! I have a story about a bear vacationing in an exotic game hunter’s second home. A bears gotta eat!!! 😂
You sure have come a long way from slinging cookies at Wildflour! I worked next to you at Sharpshooters many many moons ago. Love to work with you on a photo project someday! See ya on the mountain brotha! ❄️🥶❄️
Superb. I've been waiting for this one. I did this in April 1990 with Chic Scott (guide). We also headed to the Beaver River a tad early, ie, via the Grand Glacier, skipping Sugarloaf. History: My sister's father-in-law was David Hope-Simpson, after whom Mt David is named, as he climbed it when working as a mining engineer there in 1949-1953. Oh: And we went N to S also. The trip took us 14 days and we had one rather large avalanche that carried us down 300 feet or so (no injuries; this was climbing to Climax Col). What a thrill it was to reach Bugaboo Lodge those 32 years ago. That was my first ski traverse, but since then I have done about 10 (MUCH shorter ones) in the Selkirks, Purcells, and western side of the Rockies. Another bit of history: Roberts (Bob) French was in my running club in western Mass. I did not know that he was first on this route until a day before we started.
Now I can't wait until the next episode will came. Again!
I'm so stoked for you to finish this incredible journey but also am going to be so sad that it will be over. I've started touring around the cascades in large part to you. Safe skiing Cody!
It might look like he's getting close, but there's some burly routes still on the list like the NF or Mount Robson. So expect episodes to come with lots of effort expended!
Nice guys. Treking over Grizzly dens without waking ‘em up.That’s some epic terrain. Also love the SHOWtunes.Looking forward to Part 2.
Bro, down to the final 10, let’s go!
Covering your snow benches at camp with Spruce bows really offers a nice layer between you and the snow. And it smells nice. Love your work.
I prefer to just use foam camp pads. Though bows are an option, it’s less damaging to the environment to bring your own bench seat
Absolutely love it.
Love the videos! You two are such a great team, keep on the great work guys
super sick
Great video! Can't wait to see the rest!!
Haha! Traverse is French for "no skiing." Love it.
not lying; it's giving "Life Below Zero" vibes... 😀
New boots and liners....brave brave man
LETS GOOO! This episode was hype.
Amazing video! Can't wait for the next one!!
Awesome
Cody: I’m going to recommend you to come and speak at the Explorers club in New York. It would be awesome to have you.
Can you please possibly consider making some merchandise that says “the adventure isn’t over until you get back to the car?”
Merch will come one day for sure.
"I almost feel like I'm showing my backpack this great time." 🤣
Digging the deeper dive by going multipart.
Happy to see that you didnt poo in your beige kit!
I'm @4:00 and I can't help but notice how perfectly matched your outerwear is to your backpacks
I really enjoyed this episode as much if not more than your other episodes. Great content great attitudes amazing footage. But I think the thing that made it most enjoyable was the soundtrack you chose, the sounds of TV shows of a past era. Glad you guys had such an amazing adventure. Keep rocking those dad bods
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Clem
Looks like a great adventure! I hope I can do something like this someday. Keep it up!
Ridiculous! So stoked for the next chapters
Can’t wait for part two
Looks like fun...
I've heard of people looking like their bogs but Cody and his van are becoming one.
great work boys , just great
Gahhhh. Need more!
Very enjoyable episode!
ugh please upload part 2. need to know what happened to the food cashe
Which month did you do it? You used to put dates on the older episodes. I am going there for a week this season , so super stoked with the recent releases! Awesome photography, commentary and soundtrack as always
End of April into May.
More subtitles please. Really hard to hear at times. Amazing filming by Bjarne!
This is my World Cup
15:20 what the heck is goin on in my right ear Mr. End-of-Town?
Now I’m gnawing to find out what happens next.. 🤔
Oh Lord.. hopefully you will go on a next Mission with we go up in order to enjoy the way down Adventure:)
What is the model of the Black Diamond tent ? Awsome episode guys !
Great ep.& looking forward to the next. How are you getting on with the new liners?
Hi Cody... great episode once again - nice. What type of "socks" or "boots" do you use in camp to keep warm feet?
too short. i need so much more of this
two more episodes to come.
Ha... Cody you need to come to Europe to cure your 'Traverse Psychosis'. Here it's plaisir pur, light packs, good food and great skiing every day 🙂... but certainly a different adventure level.
Yeah, have done one traverse in Europe and the hut system sure makes it a breeze!
What goretex green jacket is that??
Need that!
It's a Salomon GTX shell
whole lotta walking!
Siiick! What brand of tent is that??
It’s a Hyperlite UltaMid 4
Hey Cody, can I ask you what grey hoody you are wearing? It doesn't look very Salomon but I like the look of the fabric for a base layer..
It’s a LeBent sample. Their new award winning NuYarn hoodie.
Did you survive?
Nope. Ded.
What's your decision making for whether to bring the ascent plate snowshoes on steep climbs?
These days I bring them a ton. But for a traverse, it's a little too luxurious of an item to bring.
Why say 8 to 10 days when you know that folks have skied it in 2?
I love your videos but I've done this trip in 8 days and that was 15years ago and we were quick but even for us 3 days was the known speed crossing
Whats that jacket from? (the green gore tex one) 🔥
its a green goretex one
🙌
drop that lower back workout✨
what bindings set up is townsand running?
Salomon MTN bindings.
Not so into the music in the last couple of episodes. Pretty overly aggro-didn’t used to be like that, I don’t think. Love the series though! ❤
Does Salomon make those pants in brown??? 😅
Gotta love POW ambassador using a helicopter to drop off a food cache. But hey you made a video about an e-bike so I guess that offsets that!
maybe the explosions out the back helped to propel you forward
That sounds like a great toast.
Lactose intolerant?
What time of year did you do the traverse?
End of April
How can we view this route: on x backcountry ?
Check the link in the caption
sick! is it cody or bjarne who is using the zipfits? and how are they?
They are GREAT ;) ;) ;)
i cringed when you said you were going with new boots and liners on your trip
In lieu of the next episode, here is a video about people who inspired other skiers, you’ll recognize Cody’s voice right away.
ruclips.net/video/rj37ETxZo28/видео.html
cody was it wet that night?
Are you guys wag-bagging or ...?
Haha, at that moment you were reminded why you hate traverses!
😂👏
thats not a daypack!
take a shot everytime they say wet
died from alcohol poisoning
Wicked content Cody, can't wait for the following episodes. On the topic of traverses and overnight ski tour camping, any chance you could create a video going over some basics and tips? I'm doing the Bow-Yoho this spring and would love to have some tips to take with me!
Love the adventure, commentary, and storyline you’ve put together. Really well done and looking forward to the next episode!
this is literally my favorite show
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
"woman up" fuck yeah
Congrats, Papa Cody! Thanks for the output recently. I finally caught up on the 3 latest as my geeky videos export. Time for the music equipment to gather dust as we chase the Colorado powder and couloirs! Absolutely stellar adventures and production! My only wish is that each would be 1-2hrs;-). Best in the new and upcoming adventures at home and around! I dragged my kids around trails and up mountains since they could hold their heads up in the baby carry pack! ShOUT! Clint
Jon Walsh's lead in the Deville chimney on the first rogers to bugs is legendary.
From dropping cliffs to dropping cliff hangers!
Haha. True.
KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid)....this way alot of sketchy vs this way less sketchy .....lol Anything but Mellow ...always envolves Bjarne, yourself, and guests....Part 1 sets the stage for part 2 and 3, I am HOOKED like everyone else in your community!!! Bugs to Rogers traverse with wild weather fluctuations (What could go wrong)....Food Cache is a teaser (OMG) As Always, cant wait to see future episode.....(we need baby cams from home.....Indy updates etc) BE SAFE and as always .....Keep the Passion flowing!!! Warmest of regards, 1000 islands Canada
That episode went by quick.
So glad I waited for part 2 to come out haha
Thank you for making such great videos, love seeing your guy's process on the big adventure!
I don't like it's not recommended to me, keep it up man!
This truly needs more views
I always take a little sketchy over a lot of sketchy, Cody says the best things!
It's a good life motto.
Hiya folks. Just to let you know part one and two aren't on The Fifty playlist. I'm currently binge watching the playlist so I was a little confused starting in part three. 🤣❄️🍻👍
So I just bought that Hyperlite pack and tried it on with it fully packed. Came to this video to see what else I needed to try to pack into the bag. Had my Nemo Switchback strapped to the side. And then those shots at the beginning, and I'm standing in my bathroom looking in the mirror and I see a girl version of Cody Townsend, ready to shred it. :)
Great video! Keep pumping them out, boys! Dig your gloves!
Great episode. Like the cliff hanger part deux. Well done!
