Lake Chapala Mexico (WHAT TO EXPECT)

- Lake Chapala Mexico is referred to as the best place to retire in Mexico. But Lake Chapala, Lago de Chapala, is much more than the best place to move to in Mexico. Lake Chapala is home to many cities, like Chapala where we are going to be exploring Lake Chapala from today.
In this Mexico travel vlog, we The Country Collectors, are going to show you what to do in Chapala, que hacer en el Lago de Chapala, and on Lake Chapala. Lake Chapala Jalisco Mexico is Mexico’s largest lake and in Chapala you can walk along the Chapala Malecon and admire Lago de Chapala from its shores. You can also take a boat trip in Chapala to Isla de las Alacranes, or Scorpion Island. On Sundays in Chapala Mexico you will find a big party down in Chapala on the Chapala Malecon - it’s a great day to visit Lake Chapala Mexico.
We hope you enjoy this Mexico Vlog, Travel vlog and are learning and experiencing a lot through our Mexico travel videos. We think Lake Chapala Mexico is worth a visit and makes for the best day trip from Guadalajara.

I agree .. Mexicans do know how to have fun and so welcoming … they are very special people … you are right it is magical and beautiful
They are just REAL. No BS or faking. It’s so refreshing!
This story of Mexico is real. Great to see this part of the world.
🙏
I really appreciate your beautiful videos and you guys love my country! My husband is from Minnesota we go back & forth, We stay longer in Mexico, because life is happier here just like you said. Some people in the States have wrong ideas about Mexico so much negativity and it's just ignorance. Thanks for educating people with your videos ❤️🇸🇳
Thank you so much for joining us! We absolutely love it here! The people are just so REAL, no BS. Welcoming and warm. Such a beautiful country.
@@TheCountryCollectors you guys are awesome 👍 by the way I'm from Guadalajara and there are a lot places to visit, we are actually living in Guanajuato I hope you guys come to Gto. Also visit la Huasteca potosina, las barrancas del Cobre en Chihuahua, beautiful scenery in the Chepe train.
The Lake Chapala area is so one of the most attractive retirement communities in Mexico, due to its year round spring like weather and inexpensive living costs.
Sure is!!
Thank you for sharing your interactions with the locals. How humbling and what a great message all of us can benefit from.
We absolutely agree!
Mexico is another world !!! Thanks friends for showing the best places and the best people from my country !!!!! You are rally nice and special persons !!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your country with us!
X2 👍
I have seen the houses for sale there in Lake Chapala. OMG! Some are so Beautiful with a pool.
Also! in Guadalajara the houses are Magnificent. I give my props to the builders there.
👍❤️
Love family day in Mexico. I can't wait to get back there and check out these places you have taken us to virtually IRL. You almost had me tearing up at the end. I totally know that feeling of being so warmly welcomed. I wish the entire world was that way. We could learn so much from them. Thank you for taking us on this beautiful journey.
It’s our pleasure. Thank you so much for supporting us, and joining us on our travels!
@@TheCountryCollectors Happy to be apart of it! Glad I found y'all.
I feel the "Happy Vibes" of Mexican friendships
My family and I are heading to Cabo in a couple weeks and your videos are getting me through! I can’t wait to wear my Country Collectors shirt while there. You guys are so adorable and I love your videos. ❤️
Hi Loraine! Oh it’s so soon! You’ll be there before you know it!! Please send us a picture of you wearing it - we would love that! Thank you so much for joining us on this journey!
Thanks for the shout out! We love your channel! Can’t believe how much food Adam dropped. But I need to confess that i drop food all the time. Every t shirt I own seems to have a stain! lol 😂
Haha 😂 you two are two peas in a pod! For someone who loves food he sure drops a lot of it! lol thank you so much for your support!
This is Paul in oaxaca. You guys are so much fun.
You're right, Mexicans are a lot of fun and really know how to have a good time.
Culturally Mexico is so unique in the world. There's really nothing like it and yet it's so close to the United States.
Someday we may make it to Lake Chapala via Guadalajara. There's just so much to choose from in this incredible country.
For us it's to Mexico City for a week on the 10th and of course, exploring the wonderful & beautiful state of Oaxaca.
I know, it’s a blessing and a curse we have found ourselves here because there is so much to do and see how are we ever going to leave?! Jaja
You are so right about the beauty in Mexico, I teared up myself so often because of thankfulness and the care I experienced there ♥️
Oh we do all the time too! It’s infectious!
I remember having to wait for my husband for hours while he was straightening out his TelCel on his computer at the Mexican TelCel store. I was adopted by a Mexican family (mom, dad, auntie, and the kids playing with cars in the floor) while I was waiting. They are an amazing group of people.
What a memory! Thanks for sharing. Absolutely beautiful people.
Your video is so well done. You give us a broad enough view that we get a true sense of where you are. The shots are rarely too narrow. And it does truly feel like we are walking along with you. Especially how you intersperse the drone shots. It's as if we are actually there and feel like we're actually getting to know the terrain you were visiting. I think you guys have perfected it. 👍🙏
Wow! What a beautiful 🤩 comment! That’s exactly what we’re trying to do, so that makes us feel so good hearing that! We want you to feel like you’re the with us, and also feel like you could go to any one of these spots tomorrow with confidence. Really, thanks for saying this it is everything we want to hear! Hope you enjoy the rest of your day. 💕💋💕💋
@@TheCountryCollectors Yes, you earned it and deserve it. I have watched a million Chapala videos and your work was the first to provide that kind of professional panoramic vista. 🙏
@@LJ-jq8og wow!!! Thank you so much again!
Hey guys ,that looks like another great adventure of a beautiful place , love that the area is accessible and there's lots of restaurants ,shops all around ,good food and great views ,beautiful beaches ,amazing weather ,simply beautiful.
Thanks so much for watching!
Love the produce stores. That is something I really like about these countries - you go out everyday and get your fresh produce, bread, and meat. The food is organic and just so much better.
Oh we agree! You go and get stuff for that day and it’s so ripe and juicy! Just amazing. I love that activity going out and picking up lunch and dinner to make.
Also, there is no additional charge for organic food. It is just food there.
Not all produce is organic, unfortunately. We thought so too but found out they use pesticides!
@@vickiladu6755 Yes, you are right - not all.
Don't they use pesticides in organic food as wee in the USA?
Great video, guys. I spent two years living in Ajijic and Riberas del Pilar, and visited Chapala many times. I always regretted not visiting Scorpion Island but I had no idea there was so much on the island. I miss the great weather and the wonderful culture, but most of all I miss the amazing local people. SO warm and friendly. I am filled with regret that the new income requirements mean that I cannot return to the place I loved. I look forward to your next video in Ajijic.
Hi Gary! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I’m so sorry that has affected you. It’s such a big change. We’re happy for the time you were able to spend here. Yes stay tuned for next week! Have a good one!
Let’s hope that the income requirements change. I was going to retire in PV counting on the dignity that MX can afford US retirees that can’t b found at home. Fingers crossed on a change.
@@iyamwhatiyam547 It seems that immigration at the airport is very understanding of this. I've not heard of a single person over 50-60 that hasn't gotten 180 days on their FMM.
What do you mean by income requirements? Please explain.
@@sgold1132 There are no income requirements for an FMM -- essentially a tourist visa that can be up to 180 days. However, if you want to apply for temporary or permanent residency, you will have to meet certain financial requirements, proving that you will not become a burden on Mexico. Thesse requirements can change every ytear, and they are somewhat dependant on which consulate you apply through.
What a great video, one of your best! Can't wait to see your take on Aijic! Thanks for being willing to share your feelings. I just returned home from Merida and am already planning my next trip. Mexico IS my happy place!
Thanks Bonnie! Same here we love Mexico! We appreciate your compliment!
Ooo that little fish. I think you bit into the tail first, that crunch! I don't know if I would be so brave to try that.
Yeah I am with you. I am lucky Adam is always down to try stuff for us!
From the beautiful Air BnB to the artistic streets and delicious food to of course the mesmerising Lake, what a combo and a great holiday destination. Loved it so much guys😍
Hi Banshan! How are you? Nice hearing from you! It was a great place to spend some time and relax by the lake. Do you have lakes near you?
@@TheCountryCollectors no, I stay near the 13-16 century monuments (Mughal era) though lol, I think I should make a video about them

I had no idea Chapala was that big!!! Still in Puerto Escondido after 2 months; looks like a very busy place in comparison. Flying out to Guadalajara in a week and staying lakeside for a month. Will look forward to seeing your Ajijic video. LOTS of gringos there!!! Hope you get up to Pátzcuaro in Michoacán. We’ll be there for Semana Santa. Would be so fun to see what you think of it. We love it! Thanks so much for posting. Always love your channel and especially your love of the Mexican people. That’s why we keep on coming. Adam…your Spanish is definitely improving! Buen trabajo! Keep it up!
Hi Cathy! Yes it’s huge! Divided between Jalisco and Michoacán. Wow 😯 we miss PE. Beautiful place. We didn’t see many expats in Chapala, definitely more in Ajijic but still felt like a very Mexican town. We hope to get there too someday! Maybe for Dia de los Muertos!! Thanks for joining us! This is Paul and Oaxaca. One of my favorite words in Spanish is "dominguear." It means "to Sunday," as with the kids and the family.
When they're out enjoying a Sunday with the family they're dominqueando.
Oh I will remember that and try to use it thank you so much Paul!
Cool spot, excited for next weeks to see more of the lake! Thanks CC!
Yes stay tuned! We get to check out some thermal spas!
Quaint little AirBnb. Oh my God! A full chicken, with tortilla and all those fruits! Mmm Huevos Rancheros. Very simple too, a lot of Mexican Restaurants here in Texas add so much more toppings. Love all the architecture as usual. That is a massive lake! Do they say what is contaminating the lake? Lol this brings back memories of when one of my buddies paid a random guy outside a club in LA to tase him. What a fun water adventure. Kind of nice to have the boat all to yourself. You guys always meet some amazing people. Scorpion Island was so cool. Epic drop fail! So much going on in this town. The music, the food, the culture, I love it.
There was a lot going on!! It was a fun spot! I believe there is a lot of agricultural runoff into the river - pesticides and waste .. as well as sewage 😞 Thank you for watching!
Hola buen día. Que lindo video. Yo soy Lupita Aceves y vivo en chapala, Jalisco México. Es bella mi chapala hermosa un saludo
Hola Lupita!
That looks like a really cool little town.
It’s fun - nice for a weekend!
There are certain parts of the lake where it’s perfectly safe to swim and eat the fish from but it’s farther down from the main town. My great grandmother lived in a small Pueblo about 15 min from the main part of the town her entire life, eating the fish from the lake and even swimming in it. She lived to be 104 years old. They usually don’t fish at the part where you’re at. My parents are actually there right now at our house that has a nice panoramic view of the lake and we just made it 2 story, so it’s even more of a view now.
Thank for sharing 🙏❤️
Another wonderful show by the two of you! Glad you are taking us to Ajijic next week - been hearing about that place too for awhile. Have a good week see you Sunday!
