I can't stop listening to this song. I was 9 years old when I first time heard this song and now I am 33 and I still can't have enough from listening of this song. My heart is flattering when I am hearing many different improvisations of the song. I want to cry and at the same time I feel incredibly satisfied when I hear how the singer/writer/composer sings the song. Lately I got informed about Luchio Dala's death. That were the very sad news for me. We will always remember you Luchio, and I never stop listening to this song.....

I got radiology training in Rome, Italy in 1998. I heard that song for the first time in Sant'Eugenio Hospital, In the radiology department. Since that time I never forget that song and that music. I love Italy from that amazing songs....Bellissima

I had 36 rads and we sure could use some beautiful music like this during, if y'all can talk to me you can play music. We won't tell.
I first heard this song in my 30's when I was living in Norway. Lucio performed it with Pavarotti on one the "Pavarotti and friends" CD's, which are great by the way! Now 30 years later I still listen to the song often because its simply magnificent. Today however was the first time I've seen this live performance and I'm just amazed by Lucio's beautiful voice, the feeling he brings to the lyrics are unmatched by anything I've ever hear before. There is a story about how Lucio came to write this song on the internet, take the time to check that out!

Dalla does not take much interest in his own appearance, it seems.
Note that the audience (who were no doubt expecting this fabulous song) applauded immediately upon hearing its distinctive introduction.
I first heard this song when it was sung by the lovely German pop singer: Helene Fischer (from inside an egg, I thought). It is available on RUclips.
It has haunted me, ever since..
Helene sings it in what I am told is perfect Italian.
There is no version in German nor in English.
But actually who needs them?

He stopped by the coastal town of Sorrento and stayed in the Excelsior Vittoria Hotel, coincidentally in the very same room where many years earlier the tenor Enrico Caruso spent some time shortly before dying. Dalla was inspired to write the song after the owners told him about the last days of Caruso and in particular the latter's passion for one of his young female students

I am not sure that it accounts for the sheer genius that must have gone into the composition of this tribute.
If Dalla composed other brilliant songs, I do not know of them.

This is a beautiful song from a great Italian musician, singer, song writer. Like the concepts found in mathematics, physics and chemistry, this song in all aspects is simply perfection. I don't think however that this level of perfection in a song could be attained if it were not created in the Italian language by an Italian musician. Simply put Italian is a musical language, and its people are the masters of the art of music.
