Big Thanks to James Asprey for this: Have a look at the GA set up guide. www.dropbox.com/s/dymmhvhusrdv39u/Baxi%20Neta-Tec%20Duo-Tec%20and%20Megaflo%20GA.pdf?dl=0
Worked on one the other day for the first time. Wouldn't go into set up. Frame around the flame bar wouldn't flash. GET BACK ON RUclips. Best chanel by far.
I must admit that I stay clear of these if possible as they can be a pain to work out....well done for sticking to it and getting it to run smoothly.....👍 cheers
Good video... very complicated boilers these alphas!! Good to see one set-up manually, doesn’t look like there is much range in the settings tho, the low / high / ignition are only at 9.0 / 9.1 / 9.0 ?? I’ll stick to my Worcester’s over these
Bertelli are, I believe, now owned by Baxi. The gas valve as pointed out by HG was used on the Baxi GA range (R-I-P!), I worked for Baxi during the GA range release and that valve just would not work properly. We were visiting the same customers trying various fixes as advised by Baxi D & D department. Nothing worked!
The valve is a lot more reliable now but still won't float correctly (over a few years) so it needs time spent to set it up. Probably every other service tbh.
Hi I had my Main Combi 30 HE boiler replaced with a new Valiant ecoTec Pro 30kw combi boiler 2 days ago. Later that day when I had a shower I noticed that the water flow rate wasn't as strong/fast as it was before. Do you know why this could potentially be. Thank you in advance.
Maybe wrong place to post this but can you recommend any good reference books that cover fault finding procedure with multimeters? Really great channel by the way... Love your easy going presentation and keenness to teach what you have gained in experience over the years. Keep em coming dude 👍🏻
Thanks HG very helpful, I have to go back to one on Friday with a new gas valve, but I will do the set up first on Max, Min, and Ignition to see if that works (Boiler was going to E133, DuoTec 28GA). It was making a funny noise, as was the gas meter and the CO2 was miles out (4.9%), engineer ordered a gas valve so I will see. Thanks again!
Make sure the ionisation probe is spotless as well with the e133 fault do a reset on the gas valve and set up I’ve got some good info on it (engineers manual ) I’ll see if I can work out how to post it in here for you pal
@@jamesasprey2092 You're right. I didn't mention the electrode and lead enough tbh. Its the whole lot that can cause the issue. If the combustion goes out the electrodes can warp too.
HeatingGeek I’ve got a good engineers book for the ga range setting up the gas valve after reset can’t work out how to upload it on here ha! Great work again pal your a credit to the industry 👌
If you had been the 1st engineer to attend, would you have done like them and initially changed electrodes etc? Or gone straight to the manual calibration or both? As time is often a factor..ie other jobs to attend
It is easier if you have a hot water tank to avoid cutting out at 90 degrees in the summertime. I spent 3.5 hours on a similar job and the next job the dog got away... good day for me :)
Those gas valves are a nightmare i had baxi megaflow that was going to lockout end up changing the combustion seal then the gas valve then the pcb blew 😱. It takes ages to setup
I had one of these took me three hours on and off the phone to alpha, I would set it up it would run for two weeks and then the settings would shift and the call would come back in ( frustration central )
For checking airflo across h-exc are you not supposed to remove condensate trap& connect nanometer on to nipple of fan? Iv got the paperwork from alpha with all readings. Send me your email &I can send you what alpha stuff iv been given from alpha
Flue gas analysers have to be calibrated (by law) on a yearly basis. Clearly this boiler which is claimed can self analyse it's flue gas falls well short of that requirement. The makers need to be held accountable.
It checks the flame quality not the flue gases. It also displays the fault codes to show that there is an issue which is why I was there. The boiler does exactly what its meant too. The gas valve is difficult to set up and doesn't hold its settings very well. As soon as that happens the boiler displays a fault code. :-)
So, in self calibration it's solely measuring the ionisation current and adjusting the gas valve on that info alone. I'm lucky not to have seen any of these (I'm mostly commercial stuff). I'm curious to know if they ever drift out of setting enough to produce high co? Setting them up looks a bit of a nightmare, would it be possible to do it in Dhw mode ( like a Worcester greenstar) to keep the temperature down,? 👍
@@gowergas5034 Thats right. They do drift out and get high CO. Thats when they put fault codes up. Any slight change in gas quality or pressure causes the same fault codes too. Its like trying to run on a knife edge. I really want to get into commercial. I have the ticket but no work. :-)

Thanks for watching. It a really difficult system to set up on any of the boilers that have it.
As always, great vídeo mate. Thanks a lot for your effort. Stay safe!
Thanks for watching it. :=)
Cheers Ollie , I won’t be going anywhere near one of them boilers
They are definitely very time consuming to set up. :-)

The Ideal was a good one but these valves are just a pain in the ass to set.
Brilliant video mate!!!
These are really good. Many thanks for posting.

You should ask your installer.
Nice tune at the end!!! 😆

I afraid not. Just keep watching videos and you will gain the knowledge as you begin to test boilers.
@@HeatingGeek thanks for the reply. Really enjoying your vids. Thank you 👍🏻
@@dilaliotube No problem. Just got back from holiday. :-) late reply
@@HeatingGeek what's a "holiday"? 🤔🤗😁
@@dilaliotube I need another one after the day I have had.
Whats the snow man and umbrella for any info will greatly be appreciated thanks in advance
The snowman is winter setting and the umbrella is the summer setting.
Same gas valve we had on the Euroterm E25 a couple weeks ago Ollie ;)
Except that one isn't a zero governor so it being slightly out wont effect combustion very much. That boiler been ok?
@@HeatingGeek Yes no problems mate :)

What does Sr mean when it comes up.... Soon as I turn it on it goes to fire up then says Sr then turns off

Top video mate. Kudos. Where did you get the information about the stepper motor ? Cheers!

Are you familiar with a sime ecomfort 25 he
Have one that the fault light indicates post condense
Can that be cleaned or replaced

I know. Very frustrating to set up. 70-30. 30% of the time it takes 30min, rest of the time it takes 1-3 hours.

Im not sure to be honest. The sticker on the front of the boiler doesn't say that though.
Cool cucumber, aren't you a smart 🍪

Tell the guy yakking in the background to speak up as I can only hear 90% of what he’s saying.
Terrible design that keeps reappearing. I thought it was dead and buried with the netatec then saw it on a duotec 2
