  • In this episode Dr. Chadi Alraies discusses a recent study investigating mechanisms of ischemia in patients with myocardial bridges.
Angina with nonobstructive coronary arteries (ANOCA) is a complex condition that involves various pathological conditions such as coronary microvascular disease, coronary artery spasm as well as the perplexing condition of myocardial bridging. While myocardial bridging was usually considered harmless, it's now being linked to long-term chest pain and sudden heart problems.
In a recent study, researchers investigated the body's responses during exercise, specifically in patients with ANOCA and myocardial bridging, using a technique called wave intensity analysis. Hereby Dr. Chadi Alraies discusses the findings of this important study.

Thanks for raising awareness about myocardial bridge. The appropriate test for myocardial bridge is a cath with a dobutamine challenge, diastolic ffr or IFR or RFR. FFR is not recommended as the artery can be compressed well into diastole. IVUS can be performed also
