Are you running an intel or apple silicon Mac? (well, since rosetta, I'm assuming m chipped) You do know what rosetta ~is~ right? I'm just saying that running stuff in rosetta in many daws, is not the panacea you are describing, ...as outside of few which can sandbox better then others, you are going to be running slower, or dragged down by the plugins you have that haven't been updated... not sure if that kinda thing is important to you or perhaps running "extended trial" versions of stuff.... but I would audit your plugins and find out which ones are native arm64, and which ones aren't, and update those you can... I get 'legacy' projects or liking certain things that will never be updated... but at some point....

Hi Lester, I’ll clarify - this fix is for if your plugins aren’t yet Apple Silicon compatible or you don’t have the budget to upgrade lots of plugins. Otherwise, the plugins won’t work without Rosetta. Rosetta helps as a compatibility workaround.
Have you tried this and your system got slow? Because I’m on an M1 opening with Rosetta and it’s still super fast. In theory we’d like to upgrade all our plugins, but that’s not practical for everyone.
Sidenote, ~is-…. I like when people add value here in the comments but clearly you’re just trying to lower my intelligence. Take it somewhere else.

@@kimerav I meant no insult or was trying to lower the perception of your intelligence, I was simply pointing out that Rosetta/Rosetta 2, while can solve certain issues/problems you are properly giving an answer to, it's that it comes with it's own host of issues whether performance or otherwise.
Most devs have updated to apple silicon, and if they haven't yet, probably time to start looking for other options if one must, but there is a trade off... and I'm simply pointing that out. And most, in my experience, have not charged me for those updates (whether it be Eventide/Soundtoys/NI/UAD etc etc iirc),.. but sure, some do, as more then point iteration updates... and that absolutely can suck and cost money.
I simply was trying to add clarity or fill out the explanation given, certainly not insult you at all.
But to answer your question, yeah, there is a noticeable performance difference between sessions using rosetta vs native in my experience, as the daw itself will pull itself down to the lowest common denominator often, and I'm on m3max currently...
So yeah, I'm not arguing that your solution gets people out of a jam, or confusing situation, not at all, I'm just saying, if encountered, update if can, if not, ok, and every situation is different.. but using Rosetta as a long term solution has it's drawbacks, ultimately could be a dead end with certain plugs, (so bouncing stuff would be a good idea) and simply warn people what is going on under the hood when one does so you know?

@ copy that, thanks. i’ve clarified in my description that this is a quick fix until fully upgraded. hopefully this helps people who are unable to interrupt workflow to upgrade all plugins - i’m gunna go ahead and guess you have lots and lots of plugins like me. it would take a bit of time to upgrade all of these in one go, so this is a good interim solution.

@@kimerav oh great, yeah, this came up on my feed and I just wanted to clarify in comment what was going on with that with some caveat, but sure, your solution helps for many that run into this without question in the interim. So sorry if we got off on wrong foot, as I certainly didn't mean to insult! :). And yeah, I've been using PT since beta testing it prior to v1 release, and sure, have a a load of plugins (as much as I'm trying to honestly slim it down as it can get silly as you know), and sigh, it is what it is over time with transitions on hardware and formats, and they don't often make everything clear right? (hence your post ;) )
