Rachel’s therapist deserve an award for telling her to not contact Tom anymore because it was controlling and not real love. Tom was trying to escape his problems and Rachel was the distraction he needed.
I don’t know he seemed to really like her even before the affair started and James said Raquel had always liked Tom. So I think they genuinely fell for each other in a difficult time, of course there was some level of co-dependency there because they were the only two people who knew what was going on so they could only speak with each other. However, I think Raquel made the right decisions. So much has happened and they had both made terrible decision that hurt a lot of people. Any relationship going forward would’ve been the nail in the coffin. Definitely too much pressure and public scrutiny to start a relationship. They both at least needed to take some time to reflect on the magnitude of the situation. Wish Raquel the best! I think she is a nice person who made a horrible mistake during a time when she was most likely feeling low.
I think the reason this keeps dragging out is because in every interview Tom says it was my fault BUT….then give a reason why it wasnt. He should have just said sorry to Arianna first full stop. Yes Arianna was dismissive of him sometimes in their relationship, but everything was always about Tom, she couldn't do anything for herself and she supported everything he did. He doesnt give her any credit or respect for that, just gives reasons/excuses why he cheated, so it becomes much harder for people to say ok and move on.
OR - Arianna needs to step up as well and admit her desire to not commit to family/Tom is at least a part of it. She's NOT 100% a non-player in how their relationship wasn't working. Yes Arianna was dismissive of him sometimes in their relationship, but everything was always about Tom, she couldn't do anything for herself and she supported everything he did. He doesnt give her any credit or respect for that, just gives reasons/excuses why he cheated, so it becomes much harder for people to say ok and move on.
