We learnt the same way, always use a line from both sides to the mooring ball creating a bridle. Ensure you get the heavey line not the floats line for tethering. Glad you came out OK with lesson you will never forget. But this is a great story now.

You're sailing again.... SO I'm back watching again!😎 I don't want to sound like a "know it all", BUT bolts don't usually just snap for no reason. Something was in a bind.... maybe just temporarily. AND I understand that bolt was EXPENSIVE, but I would've gotten a spare! After all, spare bolts don't take up a lot of space. Ya know, I want you guys to be safe on that long crossing.🌴🌴 Please inspect everything to do with the steering....cables, pullies, and be sure the rudder isn't binding. Rudders get bent. Debris. A double line is a good idea. Next time.🙄😁Sometimes the line on the mooring ball fails too. And sometimes you have to set 2 anchors.... Like already said, "Ah, the joys of sailing!" But it'll get better! Thanks for an exciting episode! Loved it! Heck, I just like listening to you talk.😝

No not at all, that’s probably exactly what has happened Strange thing for us was it was working when we went into the marina and then not working by the time we left, very strange so who knows what happened but we did actually have a new bolt made rather than trying to order online and we did get a spare 👌🏻👌🏻 Hahah yep the joys 😂 Glad you enjoyed 🙌🏼😆 Thankyou

Is countries with low wages, go to a machine shop. The can turn a bolt in a lathe in under 5 minutes, and way cheeper than ordering one.
