Turning an old workbench into a low cost metal fabrication table

Have an old metal workbench laying around? Find a cheap one on Marketplace or Craigslist? Here's some ideas for turning that old pile of junk into a solid and useful fab table.
This was meant to be a temporary fab table solution until I can build a full tube frame and thick plate version, but this thing has surprised me at how useful it's become and how much it's met my needs.
