I put a mud flap in the bottom of my battery Box , It helps the shock of the highway on the batteries , 3 years ago I bought 1000 cold Start Batteries and they are like brand new yet , I got them for 90 bucks a piece peterbilt West Sacramento , Be safe out there Dan
You do an excellent job driving the semi flatbed. I like your videos, you and Bailey take care on the road, God and Christ be with you !!! Kevin Phoenix
I've said it once and I'll say it again, EVERY driver needs to know basic mechanics so they don't get ripped off and they don't have to rely on anybody. Great job Dan.
Be careful with this miserable heat we have been having. How about that, me giving advice to the king of cool. You always take problems in stride and I look forward to your videos with Bailey.
BIG TIP: Put a foam pad under your batteries to isolate them from the road bumps and vibration. I use the same foam that I shadow-box my tools in my toolbox.
I love your puppy that is so cute how she leans over and puts her paw on your shoulder like come on Daddy Let Me Shift come on keep the rubber side down buddy love your videos Jennifer
Nice one Dan. Every day is different, every load is different. I was afraid you would have to trap that load, that wouldn't have been nice. I blew up a heavy duty battery one night many years ago. I was working late in a workshop cutting steel with disc grinder, the sparks from the steel caught the gasses coming off the battery on charge. It blew that battery into a million pieces 💥. No collateral damage, lesson learned. Enjoy the trip and with a bit of luck, you might get a load back🤞🤞
Dan if you pulled up one more time I was going to say. Hey Dan Slide over. years ago when I was a yard bird When we call the hall for a driver when they come back in the afternoon the boss would watch them back up To a door if they were having trouble I'd sneak over and say slide over and sport the trailer! In those days along Time before CDL that's how you learned! How times have changed no automatic we had Quads Triplex Duplex And on the road you drove terminal to terminal and every One looked out for the other Guy no matter who he drove for wish You could say that today!!! Stay safe. 73 Bill
Hey Dan !!!! Good ""OL"" Murphy's Law again !!! Anyhows, you got it fixed for now as guess you'll have to check the output of the ""Genny'' to see if it shuts off charging the truck batts. as will dry them out with over charging !!! Of course,, Batts. Don't like ""HOT"" weather either as if you were to put a thermometer in the Batt. box ,,it would read well over 100* in there !!! Bailey is a very cool co-pilot !!! Hope the rest of the week goes better & ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!
That darn off center freight gets a strap/chain through and back (not to the other rail) to the same side before strapping across the deck to keep it from walking. 1000 Amp batteries have thinner plates and more prone to breaking, mechanic advised me to sticking to 800's. Gotten so disgusted with batteries, just went with Wal-Marts where they are everywhere. Get two years figured I got my monies worth.
Always be careful around batteries like that if they’re playing up. They can explode. Happened to a truck driver many years ago delivering to one of our stores. Ended up going to hospital with shrapnel in his stomach.
Been watching you for a while now. Love your laid back video's. You are a very safe driver to be on the roads. You surprised me when you said you were in Olathe. I live about 30 mins south of there on 169 hwy. I haven't seen you get that close to here before. Hope you and Baily have safe travel's.
You are heading into the super heat of the PLains but I know you are used to it..We been step decking hauling tractors with no AC and its one thing after another..The battle is real.. I liked this video..
I’ve been driving for a while now, and well I just learned something from you today sir. Thank you for the tip and the batteries smelling like rotten eggs. It stands for reason. But I had never heard that before. Shoot I work on my truck unless it’s a real big job. Again thank you sir for the tip.
If you take I-94 from Billings towards Williston you’ll go through Miles City. My first assignment in my Air Force career. Got there in Feb 1967 and left in Jun 1967, after the site closed.
Smart, smart,SMART, owner operator! 1 battery giving off hydrogen sulfide and getting hot (battery explosion is next) and he changes all 3 since other 2 will fail soon. Most drivers and people with multiple battery set-ups don't. I do BTW. Don't like the cost but after 1 battery explosion 30 years ago I learned my lesson.
I loaded out of Fargo last week at a place called Structural Materials, Inc. Great guys, quick load. No tarp rebar. Easy. Went down to Rochester, MN with it, paid $700 to the truck. Otherwise, there's a lot of prefab concrete that comes out of somewhere on I-94 near Fergus Falls, MN and most of it goes east.
Dan another great video. Chaining & strapping that Kubota load looked like a nightmare. Sorry to hear about your battery problem. Glad you got it fixed. Do you have a spare key hide outside? Bailey might lock the doors with her paws.
Ya know there are some killer solar panels and inverters that you could use for this truck. Batttle Born batteries, inverter and one panel on the roof of your truck would do it. Even on cloudy days they work just fine, winter or summer. Bus Grease Monkey uses them and at first thought they were not going to work but he even has a small panel to run all his Milwaukee tools on a portable cart he shuttles around his property to work on Buses that come to be fixed.... It's really quite impressive. Anyway, just thought I'd mention. Bus Grease Monkey is his youtube handle and he posts links to the company and product a while back. Spring before last I think it was he first started using them? A client in ARizona he went to work on a Bus for had a set up for his Bus. Worth checking out at any rate. :-)
I haven't found a dealer here in Canada that won't let me or someone work on their truck in the lot. As long as it's not in frame or clutch or something major like that. Sucks dealers down that way won't let people work on their trucks. Batteries, belts altinators starters, air compressors are all fine.
@@kwilliamson1096 yes and no. Im a driver. And I've had to do repairs and like I said. I haven't had a dealer or parts place say no as long as it's not major long term work. I've done starters, altinator, batteries in their parking lot. Idk about the US as I stay up here I Canada. I hate crossing the border.
@@radarmike6713 most drivers probably leave their parking lot a mess, that's probably why....same reason most Walmart doesn't allow truck parking anymore
Nothing like dropping $900 Bucks on 3 New Batteries! Hope you at least got some good warranties! Baily looks like she's was pretty happy to have the day over! Yeah, I've had real good Loaders (Lumpers) I even had one ask ME one time, How I wanted them to load my Trailer. They actually had multiple configurations for me to choose from! I was Impressed! Then I've had some real Morons! Don't know a damn thing about balancing out a Trailer! Great Video, as always! Pet Bailey for me! :)
Montana huh! My territory. From rapid city up to Billings it’s shorter to take 212 up through Broadus MT. Cool little western town before going through Crow Nation. Watch the wild fires as they are popping up everywhere.👍🏻 overall a great run and amazing views! Safe travels!
I was told don’t get thousand cranking amps. Plates are two close together. They will short out. Better with 750 or800 cranking amps. I have four batteries in my truck.
I've been watching your videos for years. I agree with everyone else's observation that you always keep things positive. I just recently moved back to Minot from San Diego.
Seen one blow up under a hood of a truck one time the new batteries under some of the new trucks are a blue color and if u try to charge them they will blow up and take out the whole truck.
Had one explode a few years ago while I was cranking the engine over... Sounded like a quarter stick of dynamite going off... Blew the whole top and side off the battery, what a mess.
Dan you need to get someone to build you up some super capacitors batteries, they also built them for trucks, except they have a big price tag, but the cost out weight the cost of replacing the normal batteries 3-4 times over, if I was still driving that would be the first thing I would do without hesitation
You were in my territory in Rapid City. Wish I had seen you. Possible places to load near Minot would be the Air Force Base in Minot. Also, Menard's distribution in Mcenzie, ND. Also might find a load in Devil's Lake, ND.
Dan, the keys to the tractor weren't in the plastic bag with the papers hanging on the left side? They had to ship the keys with the load of that equipment & seems like that plastic bag would have eventually blown off during transport bc most times I would think they are shipped in a dry van like the truck beside you during loading.
"If it ain't one thing it's another" Truer words were never spoken!
Bailey waited until 10 minutes into the video before making her grand entrance. That's gotta be a new record. Thanks for the video, Dan.
My son owned that facility and sold out to Rush. If I would have known were there I would have brought you some BBQ. Love the channel. Best wishes.
You're going to have a new truck one part at a time!
I also like the way Bailey comes over and puts her paw on your shoulder when she wants something.
Better than new
Bailey is so damned cute. I love the way she puts her paw on your shoulder for attention
Bad lucky on the battery Dan but love the HAT !!!!!!Stay safe Dave.

Wow, I get about 18 months out of a set of batteries for my truck. Not sure why, they last 6 or 7 years in my four wheeled vehicles.

I appreciate every video Dan. Be safe out there and stay cool!
Seems funny to see you back into a loading door. Another great one . stay safe Dan.
Great video! Do the positive terminals have insulator covers? Couldn’t tell from the video.
Stay safe, bob
That middle one always gets hot. It's sandwiched in between the other two and can't cool off as easy as the others.

I'm not sure if you ever heard of or watched "bossman trucker" but he passed away recently in a tractor trailer accident in virginia. Eric was just 31
Bailey giving you comfort
You would “Think” 🤔 the person Loading your Trailer would know how you need to Tie it Down.
You would think
Sometimes it like pulling teeth to get them to do it the way you want it done
Thanks for watching

Glad you caught that battery before you ended up stranded. Luck is on your side today (except the price of the batteries, of course).

I couldn't agree more Dan,right now for me it's no a/c in the middle of a heatwave stay safe out there.
Yup Dan it's nice to switch up the route every now an then... Washington an Idaho nice country out there. But you gotta follow the money
