    • @DavidStruveDesigns
      @DavidStruveDesigns 9 месяцев назад +2

      Especially considering you have to make your choice at checkout cos you can't upgrade it later. But at this point, their lowest end specs really shouldn't even be a thing now. 8gb RAM shouldn't be the minimum any more - 16Gb should be. And a 512Gb drive? Seriously? We've had multi-terabyte drives for _so long_ now, that 1Tb absolutely SHOULD be the lowest spec it's possible to get at this point in time, hell I could even argue it should be 2Tb minimum. Then again, I'm also of the opinion that computer monitors shouldn't be 1080p any more and games shouldn't be designed/coded to target that resolution either - that resolution shouldn't even be an _option_ for anyone to chose, 1440p should be the new lowest-end spec you can possibly get. About time we all moved on and raised the lower floor up a level considering just how ancient all these lowest-end specs really are and how long we've had the higher-end stuff for.
      For me, 512Gb hard drives, 8GB RAM and 1080p monitors/screens is the equivalent of signing up to a streaming service, and because you chose the cheapest monthly subscription they ship you out a VHS player and VHS tapes. It just doesn't make any logical sense to keep those lowest end specs still going when we've had better for so long, and pushing up the lowest floor not only offers a better experience all-round, it also encourages the highest floors to be advanced more as well.

    • @yellowdrangon
      @yellowdrangon 9 месяцев назад

      @@DavidStruveDesigns Your argument from the consumer side makes so much sense and I agree whole heartedly. Everyone in 2023 just has so much digital Bagged that 1TB should be the lowest storage spec.
      However Apple Gotta make their money somehow and they choose too do it by making you pay to future proof your device.
      I think they will have to start increasing the floor here soon because M1 was just so Good that people aren't finding a reason to upgrade anymore and a new color and chip ain't it!

    • @DavidStruveDesigns
      @DavidStruveDesigns 9 месяцев назад

      @@yellowdrangon The problem is, it's really _not_ "future proof" at all. Cos after a few years Apple devices "mysteriously" start slowing down and failing. With OS updates older tech outright doesn't get them or it performs _awfully_ on that hardware, and newer software acts sluggish on older hardware too. The last Apple product I bought was an iPad (I forget the generation, it might have been a 2nd or 3rd Gen) but I had terrible timing and they'd come out with the latest generation a few months later (which was I think now 2 generations above?) - despite it being a brand new iPad and only a couple of years out of date it suddenly slowed down massively, wouldn't charge all the way despite the brand-new battery and eventually after about five months ownership it stopped working altogether. And it absolutely refused to download and install the latest OS which got a brand new version with the new model release. When I got a tech repair shop to check it out, they said the hardware was still perfect and it was being slowed by software and OS updates. So yeah the lowest end spec makes _no sense_ and forcing upgrades the way they do is unfair ESPECIALLY because their devices won't last for the lifespan of the _hardware_ inside.

AAA titles are desperately needed to make that work...and everyone is falling on their respective faces not doing this. Two or three AAA titles do not make a gaming experience on my iPhone realistic, and limiting it to just the 15 Pro just to do it in the first place..... no, just no. The single biggest downside to your phone being your gaming device (especially to hook it up to the TV with a dock/dongle) is that then you can't use it as your phone. No texting while ur gaming. If you have a phone AND a macbook already (which less people do than just iphones) and your save progress picks up instantly between them and you can run your laptop to a TV and connect a controller to that and then use a backbone with the phone on the go the maybe (maybe).

Back then, Windows laptops were just garbage. (Mostly the battery or the hdd failed.) So i went with a Macbook Pro 15". Once i came home, i bought a 27" Apple cinema display and i was completely sold! I never looked back at Windows computers. (Only up until recently actually.) Because i still love the build part of a Windows computer. I just don't really like the OS experience. But honestly, that really depends on the person!

Though, as i've seen the GTA6 trailer online, i don't know if that game would be able to run on the available Mac's in 2025. But that's something we'll have to wait and see i guess!

    I have the most basic M1 MacBook Air you can get and it is fully capable go gaming. I played Minecraft Java and Roblox on here. The problem I see, is that the library of games on Mac is so laughably small, that I don't recommend getting a Mac if you are a PC gamer. I still keep around my Windows laptop, just to play my Steam games and what not(not that I game on a laptop anyways).
    This lowest spec M1 MacBook Air runs circles around my Windows laptop, yet gets laughed at when you compared sizes(gaming library sizes). This Mac has real potential to make me game on a computer again, but as long as Apple refuses to actually acknowledge developers, I can only recommend getting a Mac if you use Apple's apps or you need battery life.
    I would love to play all my favorite games on here, but most of them are just not available even through Rosetta. And I don't want to pony up several thousand dollars for a laptop with a "better GPU" only to be immediately outdated in 6 months just for some exclusives that are several years old at this point. Imagine spending that full $7,000 just to play Skyrim but next year you only have to pay $6,900 but you get to play Fallout 4.

    apple can easily manufacture the ultimate hand held gaming system, team up with nintendo, sony, or someone else who has the rights to some old awesome games (007 goldeneye) and make it happen. they have the technology.. they should really go face first into the gaming industry.. but they’ll have to create something specifically for gaming

    It's not up to apple if apple becomes a more gaming capable device. Devs have already put PC on the back burner with ports these last few years. I mean there was an 6-8 month stretch between the end of last year and mid-way into this year where literally every single AAA PC port was absolute trash. You really think these already stretched thin developers are going to throw yet another platform on the pile they need to cater to? Not unless apple pays them to or apple goes out of it's way to make that tool a virtually effortless way to put games on apple devices.

    Ok hear me out 1500 for a phone is too much I can buy a phone for 450 then buy a laptop for 800 and buy xbox gamepass ultimate and also emulate ps game if I want to simple I saved around 250 bucks which I can spend on anything and buying keyboard and mouse or a switch or just buying a capable second hand pc for 700 or 600 and ditching the laptop

    Here's the thing, Apple just wants to repurpose their devices to be makeshift gaming devices. If they're so serious then make hardware or a proper service to compete. Most people who buy a Mac are not gamers. If they were, then they wouldn't buy a Mac. It's not that gamers are missing out on these Apple products, Apple is missing out on selling to gamers. Apple wants to bring more gamers over to their ecosystem. The thing is, a lot of gamers don't ever want to be locked to one ecosystem which is why you see mods, hardware mods, emulation, game streaming, and push back on things like DRM. Apple's philosophy doesn't align with that of gamers or hardcore tech enthusiasts and that's why some will NEVER move over to anything Apple other than maybe an iPhone if they aren't power users. Apple by definition is extremely anti-consumer--probably one of the most anti-consumer companies to ever exist. Now look at Valve; they're the anti-Apple company which is a big reason why the Steam Deck and Steam is loved by so many gamers and tech enthusiasts.

    I’d take an iPhone or iPad on my cellphone plan than any gaming setup. It’s more versatile and cheaper. If you’re in the apple echo system, apple is literally just one step away from playing you’re video games anywhere and on any device. The only thing missing now is an Apple TV with the IPhone 15 pro’s chip in it.

      @@garrusvakarian8709 Ipads don't have that problem but I mean IOS isn't broken for iPhone if it doesn't support extended display using an external monitor. Dex on phones is still a very niche thing on the android side of things. If gaming starts to pick up for Iphones and Ipads then that will most likely bring extended screen support for Iphones. At least for games.

    Just imagine gaming on their magic mouse 😂😂😂, but jokes aside, even if they have the power, the motion rendering and input lag are very bad at least on the Macbook side. I tried game streaming as well on it and even that felt bad af.

      Actually, I unironically do this, and the Magic Mouse is legitimately an amazing gaming mouse. The secret is using a glass mousepad and a mod to make it zero friction. It’s actually hilarious because they made an amazing mouse and then made everyone think it’s terrible just because they are so bad at advertising what it actually does well

    personally i dont like having everything linked to one brand/company. thats like an exploit that can end your entire career all at once if something goes bad. and even then, apple is soo blind ri8 now trying to go against windows gaming that by the time they figure it out, android gaming will be a better option thanks to it having vulkan, more gaming featured phones and a larger user base already available. ppl are just waiting for snapdragon to come up with something that can do what the A17 pro can do now but better. the new 8Gen3 thats coming out in flagship phones in the next 6 months with UE5 features such as lumen just screams its time for AAA gaming on android to become a thing. and not just them, samsung also figured out their AMD colab Xeynos SoC and announced their next gen xeynos to have competitive GPU performance. it truely is a great time to see miracles like GTA 5 running natively on a device that is in your pocket.

    Wait, you think Apple pays these developers to appear at the event? And yet for Today at Apple sessions... they pay presenters in Apple products... ANY developer would LOVE to work with Apple to get an early hands-on with upcoming tech releases and then get chosen to appear at an event to present what they've done with it, because of the massive audience that either watches it, or hears about it through recap articles and videos. Getting first out the gate and having this marketing boost is any developer's dream, and Apple knows it... they don't need to pay developer's in that way. They will get a boost in interest and potential buyers of the apps and subscriptions (and then complain about the 30% Apple tax 😆). Clearly Apple used this event to show off what Macs can do for gaming, otherwise they wouldn't have added the same elements from the iPhone processors into the M-chips for ray-tracing, etc. It's up to the developers to update their games for better performance on MacOS. They're probably still playing catch-up from iOS work when iPhone added this power. But better update quickly -- gotta be early out of the gate before others.

    Apple gaming is a complete joke in macOS. You get a crippled version of w(h)ine or a steam environment that can only run games developed for the mac. It is one of the reason I have built myself a gaming rig that dwarfs my M2 MAX. I got rid of all my consoles and now just have the MBP and a fabulous gaming rig.

    OK, as a true Apple Head since the Mid 90's and an Apple Tech (PROFESSIONALLY, Not an wet behind the ears Genius Bar "tool") since 1999, the M1 with all its Apple Silicon talk is in fact just talk, Talk, TALK, TALK. TALK, because for all it's incredible "POTENTIAL", its downfall is in the sheer total lack of RAM and no amount of bullshit talk WILL EVER negate the fact that THERE IS SIMPLY ZERO SUBSTITUTE FOR PHYSICAL RAM!!!!
    Shame on Tim Cook and whatever TOOL at Apple THOUGHT that 8GB should have even been offered in 2022, and that even 16GB was adequate with the memory REQUIREMENTS of hungry Applications today!!!
    IDK why you guys and LTT aren't lighting this total lack of Ram "fire" under Apple's ass and highlighting how this is the real CRIPPLING issue with Apple's last 3 Generations of computers.
