Plus 1 on that!!! I want to hear the natural sounds of the countryside not some bonehead's idea of Muzak! If anybody thinks that the sounds of the birds would be better if drowned out with Mozart or Megadeath they can put their headphones on and please themselves. Adding rubbish that the more sane among us cannot remove is just brainless. 😱🙄

Thank you for the comment, It think this is something we have learned as we have made new videos over the years. If you go back to our earlier ones the music is louder and I guess its something you just get better at. Still much to learn but glad you can hear it, where possible we are finding a better balance. 😊

I wish somebody would tell the tv producers that. I struggle to hear the speaking on tv programs as the music is so loud and I don’t have any hearing issues. I’ve written to various tv stations/programs to no avail. Surely my husband and I and my mother are not the only one having this issue.

No matter where you are, there’s so much to discover. It is, however, advantageous for people to watch your videos, as sometimes you can get caught on the main roads and miss out on these hidden treasures. It definitely helps people plan. Lovely area! The seaside views are terrific, along with the narrow drives, and the crashing creeks. I adore that toll house! Something odd happened when my Mother-in-law adopted a small horse to keep her bay gelding company...it turns out he's an Exmoor pony! Apparently some have been bred in the U.S., and this one ended up in Southern CA. He grew a lovely shaggy coat during our unusually cold, wet winter. :)

If you lads are ever in Scotland, try venturing above the tourist traps of Edinburgh or Glasgow to an area called the Black Isle, it's above Inverness. Once you're there visit the town of Cromarty, its period architecture takes you back to a bygone age, it could almost be a filmset, whilst there another pretty town is Tain, you could always round off your trip by going to Portmarnock, not only is it at the top end of the great glen fault it's also famous because its harbour faces West.

That's true of many areas sadly. I can think of one little road that we breathed a sigh of relief if we didn't encounter tourists. Nature of the beast I'm afraid.

Don't think it was mentioned in the video, but the main reason why people might know Porlock is that it featured in a story relating to one of the greatest works of English literature. In 1797 the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge was living near the village. To quote Wiki: 'The person from Porlock was an unwelcome visitor to Samuel Taylor Coleridge during his composition of the poem Kubla Khan. Coleridge claimed to have perceived the entire course of the poem in a dream (possibly an opium-induced haze), but was interrupted by this visitor from Porlock while in the process of writing it. Kubla Khan, only 54 lines long, was never completed. Thus "person from Porlock", "man from Porlock", or just "Porlock" are literary allusions to unwanted intruders who disrupt inspired creativity.'

Samuel Taylor Coleridge went to all these West Somerset/ North Devon villages looking for inspiration. He also famously wrote “ The ancient mariner” after a boozy lunch in Watchet pub called “ The Bell”. The statue of a half naked ragged man entangled with an albatross stands on watchet harbour.

Sorry, the statue stands on the esplanade not the harbour, a short distance from Yankee Jack.

Thank You for this little gem. When I was a Lit major at CUNY@ Queens College [University for all you Europeans] I really wished my professors included this info before we began reading Coleridge's poetry. "Kubla Khan" was always included on the Syllabus. I never "got it". I never understood why this poem was so important. Now I know thanks to @BillyBudd5854!!! Cheers from NYC!!! THe lesson learned: NOTHING stays a secret forever!!!

Thank you for this beautiful video. I have spent numerous holidays in Porlock in our motorhome. There is a lovely, basic campsite right in the centre if the village where you can see the most stunning sunsets. I have a very good friend who's lucky enough to live there and we usually go down for Wierfest which is a music and beer festival on the first weekend in July.

Haya. This was stunning as always. I will be spending my afternoon catching up on your beautiful videos in the time I have today. WOW, how you managed to get the bird of prey in time before he flew off, such a beauty 💙Seeing the sunset was wonderful ☀The Yew tree that could be 1000 years old, can you imagine the stories it could tell about 😀 Where you said about the "Fairytale-like locations that enchant & bewitch you into wanting to live there" YES, that is exactly right, all these wonderful places cast their magical spell & before you know it, we are spellbound 😀I will do my best to not comment on every video, or you will be having your comments box filled up with me too much, that does not mean I have missed any videos, it is hard not to comment, as you both make/create the most enchanting videos. Have you both ever thought about voicing audio books? You have the most relaxing voice to do so, as does Will when, we the viewer, hear him 😀Have a wonderful week wherever you are. Thanku so much for sharing & taking us all along. Ana😀
