    We Finns enjoy february and the first signs of coming spring but be warned... typically it's possible to have freezing weather and snow still in April. It's possible that we can have super early spring in march but it's also possible to have snow in may or even early june in extreme cases. But do enjoy every possible spring day and do not worry tomorrow's weather.

    • @lifebyolia
      @lifebyolia  4 месяца назад

      Oh really, it's quite surprising to learn that it might snow even in June. But I think knowing that snow is possible until summer makes the warm spring days even more precious. Thank you for your comment, it’s much appreciated!

    There are not too many girls your age that can do that, from scratch, kind of cooking, I bet ( at least in the USA).
    Though I never got to know my Croatian side of the family as much as I would have liked, one of the main things I remember were my grand ma's strudels and ziganzie ( not sure if that's spelled right). From what I can tell, you are the same kind of cook and because I never got to know them I missed out on their much closer to nature life style ( my uncle had a whole sale nursery business)
    I remember the great Croatian community they lived in amongst up in Detroit Mich./ The great croatian picnics and the fantastic food.
    My Oled really getz the color in 😁 your 4ks
    Always great when you put out another video!

      I think that nowadays people, in general, cook less because it’s simply natural for our current lifestyle. Cooking from scratch isn’t something that our modern fast-paced world values. Nowadays people are measured by their productivity, and cooking from scratch isn't considered 'productive' since you can find almost everything in the nearest store. I personally have so much fun baking and cooking more complicated things. And I believe that more people would love to experiment with that kind of cooking if they had more time and energy left after their working day. When I was in an office job, I rarely had time to cook like this, only occasionally on weekends because it was kinda an escape for me. So yeah, it’s just the world we’re living in right now.
      When you mentioned your grandma’s strudel, I immediately wanted to cook one right away 😁 I have no doubts that your grandma’s baking was the best. And honestly I’m so honored that my cooking reminds you of your Croatian roots. It’s a bit sad that you couldn’t spend as much time with them as you wanted. But it’s good that you have such warm memories of them.
      I’m glad that you enjoyed this video, it's the best reward for me 🤗

      @@lifebyolia Women want to be famous now in preference to the ho hum idea of b eing a housewife. We are being programmed to look at child rearing and house supervision as an area of life that offers no rewards or status.
      This change is occurring as much thru media propaganda as through our own weighing of the facts our selves.
      Fame is a relatively recent concept because until 125 years ago, only the very top elites could become well known thru magazines and newspapers.
      Which is better Working in the mines or keeping house for the men working in the mines? One little better than the other.
      Most jobs with the industrial revolution taught us how to be robots and were anything but spirit lifting
      In fact there is a strong case to be made that progress is not necessarily a good thing.
      Prior to that, all that most ppl were was subsistence farmers, bartering their handiwork with their neighbors to pay for stuff while raising the crops to feed themselves.
      There is a reason why school wasn't mandatory till the 20th century and that is the elites didn't need the citizens to have that kind of knowledge so progress is and has always gone hand in hand with whatever the elites want at a given time and then providing the appropriate atmosphere to get it thru propaganda.
      So it became our duty or "white man's burden" to educate the tribes out of ear shot of our Abrahamic preachers. Yes, it will hurt them now but everyone benefits in the long run, it was justified.
      These arguments or justifications boil down to propaganda for the ppl in power.
      Now white ppl are being blamed for every ill known to man which ignores the fact that 98% OF whites had little to do with the beginnings of racism and slavery, both elitist institutions forced first on the white man and then on the rest of mankind.
      We are blamed cause the elites own all the various instruments used to message board the populations.
      Whatever temporary success we are having with the independent media, the elites are preparing the way for it being scrubbed out of existence.
      SHTF?
      Any moment, this election psycle is crucial!
      Thoughts?
      Keep up the great work, Olia!

    Thank you for sharing your story Olia. Me and my wife moved to Finland 1 year ago and I do realize since she doesn't yet have a job, that she is struggling to adapt. Would you be willing to share some of your tips & tricks over the years? I do think that hearing it from someone of a similar culture (we are Romanians), would greatly help her. Next time you pass Kluuvi mall (6:13) in Helsinki, you can come and say hi, I do work in the offices just above that mall

    • @lifebyolia
      @lifebyolia  4 месяца назад

      Well, that is an uneasy question 😅 because I still sometimes struggle with adaptation here. I'm a terrible introvert and it’s extremely difficult for me to connect with new people. But I’ve been thinking about what I can advise and I think I can share some tips that have helped me over these years.
      The main thing that kept me going during the first time was exploring interesting places and different parts of Helsinki (my passion for photography drove me in this). It definitely helped me to feel more “at home”, as I got to know the city and chatted with local people. Later we got a car and started traveling around Finland. There’re a lot of campings with cozy cabins, they’re cheaper than hotels and mostly you don’t even need to book them in advance. It’s a great option to spend some time in the “Finnish way”.
      Also, if possible, get to know your neighbors. We met ours at gatherings during spring work in our yard. If there's a similar event happening in your yard, don't skip it. It helps create a sense of little community here.
      Oh, and a little insight, sometimes it gets really tough in winter, so be sure you live to the fullest in the warmer months and make the most of your summer.
      Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. 😊 I remember your first comment before you moved to Finland. I genuinely hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you and your wife here. And I’ll keep in mind that I have a fellow Romanian working in that area.
