  • Hi folks . For several months in 2015, we built from scratch a Batch Box Heater with attached cob couch. I had every intention of editing the film for a detailed build-out video, but time and other demands on the farm took priority. So many of the viewers have asked for this footage, and at this time, this is the best I can do with my allotted time. Follow along the unedited filming of the Batch Box Heater build from 2015 here at ABC acres. Full of imagery, info, and know-how for your next project. I know there is no intro, and I know there is endless footage of trivial detail, but alas that is the fact of this. If you wish to have the jpgs of the heater build, visit www.abcacres.com and drop me a line in the contact page. I'll then get them out to you. Take care, Tim

For anyone "new" who wants to build these.... things can be learned here in videos like this, but this is overkill, and in the extreme. The rocket stove tinkerers love the overkill. They love all the bells and whistles that confuse the heck out of anyone who doesn't study this stuff. It's simple. Go buy 60 firebrick. Stack them up to create an "L" shape square channel for gasses. The box that holds the wood is 1/3 the size of the riser. Make riser a few rows higher or longer if you can. Mortar it together with refractory cement. It's just a long square shaped like an L. Place a oil barrel over the riser or build a brick box around the riser. For a barrel allow only 2 inches between the top of the riser and the iron barrel. If you build a brick box allow another inch or two. Cut a hole out the bottom of the barrel or brick box so the gases can exit and go up a very long "regular chimney" via 15 feet of stove pipe (or whatever.) There... you have a rocket stove. You don't need exact measurements, secondary air, spark arrestors... etc etc, etc. etc. This is all nice... but someone who can't do any of this can get 95% of the rocket stove that you see if being built here and you don't need any skills.

Nice rendition of Peter vd Bergs design.
    Thanks for posting.

New sub. Great vids. Best rocket stove system I ever watched. I can build this myself with the plans but not sure if I want to put the amount of time that it really takes yet it's interesting to explore as oppose to a basic fire brick build.

That is nice job mate! could you tell the size of the riser, in n' out, and how tall is it. Is it covered by a 55gal drum on the top, or similar to it? oh and hol long can be the horizontal pipes? Thank you for your videos!

this does NOT explain how it works start to finish. can't see... it goes into barrel then up and over some how? then along horizontal pipe? that is NOT explained or shown at all, makes no sense. and the bypass? it can open or closs? can't see that. haven't got a clue how this is built,...its so very not clear at all.

You move the camera around so much It makes you sick looking at it.,
If you’re gonna take the time to do this and to post this, at least hold the camera still as you move from place to place ,
