  • Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
    Directed by Tim Burton
A death in the family brings Delia , Lydia and her Daughter Astrid back to the Maitland home . Shortly after being there Beetlejuice is summoned and this time he’s not alone .
Saw the first film in the theater and always wanted a sequel . After twenty years and not getting a sequel I made peace with never having one . Years of rumors and other actors being involved And still nothing . The day finally came .
Initially I was concerned about Keaton would he be able to handle this type of roll at the age of early 70’s??
Well, he can and he’s not lost a step .
Michael Keaton showed up to work and so the did the makeup and practical FX department… that’s it .
Tim Burton was 29 when he made the original film and he managed to tell a unique story that had a lot of heart .
The movie had likable characters , had its own style which is now part of pop culture . This movie is so unfocused and all over the place . It honestly feels like a first episode of a Netflix series .
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice feels like a bunch of ideas written on post-it’s and they decided to film them all the next day .
Too many plots and too many characters!
Love Monica Bellucci and love Willem Dafoe their characters were interesting… but why were they there ?
I love Winona and the character of Lydia … but the writers must have not seen the original film because that wasn’t Lydia .
Justin Theroux plays dollar store version of Todd from Christmas Vacation and has some of the worst lines in the movie .
Between the love forced love interests and this mother and daughter thing they try to do no one seemed to have chemistry. To me it felt like they met twenty minutes before the movie started .
How are the Maitlands not in the movie ? The writers couldn’t come up with anything . How is Beetlejuice a boss ? How’d his head get bigger? Why is Jeffrey Jones getting a big Tribute and Glenn Shadix (Otho) barely a mumble ?
    Verdict
Keaton and the FX carry the movie . I don’t blame the other actors they’re doing their job . I blame everything behind the scenes because after 35 years this is what you come up with ?
P.s. the movie was originally intended to be a streaming movie .. and you can tell .
    See it matinee for Beetlejuice
Or waiting till it’s streaming where it was originally intended .

I liked this film very much (9/10), but for me the first one is BETTER. I love the 1988 film!!

I actually walked out of the cinema during the scene in the church when they attended the wedding. By that time the movie felt 4 hours long. They needed to cut a lot of plot lines!! They should have only focused on 3. Have Beetlejuice do his stuff, have Winona and Katherine sort out their issues and then have Jenna and the serial killer young man have more airtime. Cut Willem, Justin and Monica out completely. It had a lot of potential, but wow, what a bad and boring movie

Agreed i would have cut a lot of characters out . Dafoe and Bellucci both had potential just nothing to do .

Absolutely agree with your opinion, we shared similar opinions and i 100% Do think that Otho should have at least got a Mention. As his character was one of my favourites. And i don't understand why long awaited sequels have to carry the exact same trope of the moody teenager that doesn't like the parent. 😅 honestly it's getting old now 🤦
Great video my friend, wonderful Review 🤌🏻

I'm not really a Beetlejuice fan not one of the few movies of Tim Burton just not one of my favorites I don't even know if I want to see the sequel now since you seem disappointed with certain elements of the film.😂 , this movie sounds like it's a bit disappointing I don't like Ortega actress. The first Beetlejuice movie was good even though it's not my favorite but I will always watch that anytime.

Ha ha it’s funny all the things that bothered me . I’ve heard other people didn’t even notice so it may not bother you at all . I just might be a weirdo who noticed all this .
