Same here. I got it Christmas 1969 and my sister's wouldn't play it with me. I would just play setting it up, but the big bath tub part wouldn't fit properly and the man never dove into the small tub. I loved playing with the marbles down the whole run though 👍
Ah, yes! I had my doubts when you said it was the very first Mousetrap! commercial, because it DOES, in some ways resemble the 1974 version of the same commercial. But as I looked at the game box in the commercial along with the way the commercial was set up I realized you were telling the truth-this commercial IS from 1963-64! The clincher for me was the tag line at the end-“It’s A Wonderful Game-It’s Ideal!” That line clinched it for me because that WAS Ideal’s slogan back in ‘63! Thanks for posting this great rarity!
We had that game and I loved it. A true Rube Goldberg machine for children to play with! I loved the way it was packaged - there were several boxes within the main box, and each held specific parts of the trap. They re-released it years later, but it was a shadow of its former self. The parts were much less robust, and there was no spring in the "thing-a-ma-jig" - the ball simply knocked it downwards unbalancing the bowling ball. In the old version the thing-a-ma-jig was actually spring loaded so the "helping hand" popped upwards.
This mechanics of this game didn’t always work as smoothly as it was supposed to or as purported to be. The somersaulting man didn’t always land where he was supposed to and if you watch this ad very carefully, at 0:43 you can just see the mouse trap net get stuck on the way down the pole but the film quickly cuts away from it.
My family had this and Fish Bait and I agree with the commenter that said the diver rarely hit the mark correctly! Same thing with the little fisherman getting snapped up in the fish's mouth! Haha!
I always wanted this when I was a kid but my parents refused because they said I would lose the parts. They were right but still I am convinced they ruined my life forever.
That looked like crap haha I’m sorry but that aged commercial sucked....I like the 90’’s version of the game. I bought the game just finished setting it up. Don’t bother building it as you go though it will mess up. Build it and then play.
Born in. 1960, I don’t recall ever playing the actual game. Just building and playing with the mousetrap.

Not to mention it's in black & white, while the 1974 version was in color. That's probably THE main clue. lol

My brother and I had this game in the 1960's and played it often. We loved it!
My diver guy never could do the flip. I was crushed...
Mine neither. It never got momentum. I wondered if that part in the advert was filmed numerous times until it happened by a fluke!
"I wanted to play Mouse Trap. You roll your dice, you move your mice. Nobody gets hurt."
Robloxing
You know you're old when you remember watching this commercial on your first black and white TV.

Do "Draculaura and SpongeBob SquarePants" Play this game?
This commercial is just shy of a minute long....no wonder we have short attention spans these days.
was this game as much fun as the commercial made it look when I was 8?
We never even played lol we just built and set off the trap over and over.
Same
I Wonder If Hello Kitty and Lip Fairilu are Playing this game ? I think that would happen

I wonder Mickey & Minnie play this game? Lol!
They probably wouldn’t, since they ARE mice. Besides, they’d probably freak out over the trap!
They played a version called "Human Trap".

I think mice can swim!LOL⛵
I loved my MOUSETRAP !!!!
Too bad Hasbro got a hold of that game and turned it into babyfied garbage… :(

I wish if it is full color
Do Mickey & Minnie play this game??
They probably wouldn't Since they are Mice
I can tell it's a color commercial, but unfortunately the Eastmancolor used to film the commercial has turned red over the years.
Wow! This game is a LOT older than I thought. Didn't later versions have a slightly different setup ...?
Either the producers were too cheap to hire a mom, or they're going for the single-parent demographic.
