My last really big stand up moment was a year and a half ago, and it was a game of Hearts, of all things. I tagged in for another player who was losing at the time. Through several hands of play, I managed to hold my ground without gaining huge amounts of points, though I got closer and closer to the losing mark. But at the same time, everyone else was creeping up in points as well. Then, in the last hand, I managed to shoot the moon, capturing all the points and thus setting everyone else. End Result: I pulled out a win, and it was made all the sweeter by the tense attempt to manipulate the tricks to lose the ones I was going to lose, but still capture all the points. I felt quite good about that win.
I always know I am enjoying a game if I'm standing up. Usually in the last few turns or when counting points. 1) Terraforming Mars for watching your strategy play out and 2) Ghost Stories for the lucky shots
I think the reason why Battlestar Galactica generates so many 'stand up moments' in my experience is, because the game mechanism of having a Cylon power executed once while revealing yourself actually encourages Cylon players to pick 'the' most impactful moment possible for the present board state. Basically it's non non-luck-based stand up moment where the other players sometimes go: "I should have seen this coming!" and other times did see it coming, but couldn't prevent it ... and sometimes it's an utter surprise. Having such a pivotal moment hit you in a game of this length just is something special. (Other stand up moments can happen in BSG, but those reveals are usually the ones that really are most memorable.)
Off topic I know but did anyone else see the latest South Park episode. It’s parodies The Dice Tower. It starts out with Tegridy Breakfast. The Tegridy Tower. Similar intro and everything. Gave me a chuckle.
When Tom said "Sam Healey's greatest hits list" I knew what the last top10 featuring Sam needs to be: top10 games most often included in the Dice tower top 10 lists. Sure someone will have that sorted out in excel and it wouldn't be as surprising, but it would be a nice homage to the guys' many years of lists together. A 10 for 10 game based on this would work, too, as long as there are no ties.
Sam's #3 Deception is spot on in my experience. I recently hosted a game night and during one game all 6 of us were standing up, it was a very animated session.
My biggest stand up moments always occur with Blue Moon. You have a great power that your opponent can't win and , suddenly, a mutant a shield or a stupid discard all your support cards appears. I love that moments
9:18 The funniest Dice Tower moment ever! We’ve had some stand up moments in Thanos Rising where if we made one wrong roll with the Infinity Stone die, we would lose, and we ended up pulling off a win!
Lol the kissing moment with Tom lmfao after he kissed the dice he was like wait what lol, that one and the joker's henchmen at Sam's number 1 was hilarious
I am really surprised that Tom didn't pick Cosmic Encounter. That was on my personal list. I did however correctly predict him having Pitchcars . Another game on my list that didn't make any of yours was Magic: the Gathering. When you topdeck the only card that can possibly save you!
Hey guys, I love the top 10s and the top 100! I would like to suggest that you anticipate the top 100 to the first half of the year. So we can have more top 10 spaced over the year, and less overlap with the top 10 of the year and so
My no 1 stand up game so far has been Formula D just for the time that it came down to the last corner for 3 cars and a friend needed to roll exactly 27 to get half a length in front of his son who was leading because 28 or higher would make him blow up...that 27 seemed to be in bold italicized and underlined when it was rolled successfully.
Tom without a doubt Ghost Stories is my number 1 when I one it solo...It is my sons go to game and we are yet to win,!!! My other favourite stand up is when I finally one Friday so good
Some of my biggest stand up moments were playing Spurs. Granted, it's a sandbox western with flaws and its spiritual successor -- Western Legends -- is overall a better experience. However, watching players draw dud bullet after dud bullet in trying to capture desperados or mountain lion and wondering if their last draws will succeed or leave them injured in abject failure. The draw-bag element that drives this game creates those stand up moments. I wound up selling this game in favor of Western Legends because of the flaws, but I am really wanting to bring in some aspect of that draw-bag element into WL so we can still have those stand up moments.
i remember one moment with dungeon dice where i was going to win but someone activated a power that he would roll a die and 1 out of 6 i would turn into a frog and stopped me from winning. And he rolled the die and as you migh expect he rolled a 6 and i turned into a frog !!!! omg i flew of my chair and cursed like hell hehe but the next round i did still win whoohoo.
my very own mom woped me out from tokyo and killed me with a full 6 claws in round 2. Shortest KoT game in my life and one of the funniest momments in gaming for me
I dont get this list. A 'stand up moment' in games is when people are standing up in anticipation of something. Most of this list is about standing up in triumph.
"Tag me in.
PSYCHE SON! KEEP STANDING FOOL!"
........Oh my gosh I was whiping tears I was laughing so hard.
"bucket list achieved"
Absolutely hilarious!
Black Orchestra! Both time we've won has been so great!
I love Sam's #10. It doesn't get old. Luv it! #gonnamissyousam
I have been to the boardgame cafe in Hamburg they are mentioning in the beginning. Its my favourite boardgame cafe I have ever visited :)

Monopoly always has a stand up moment for me, when it gets mentioned I stand up and walk away
I feel Zee on the AH:LCG. That token pull > dice rolls and can really pump you up with the right pull or dash your hopes with the wrong one.

On my first game of Space Base I won with the "I win" card. :)) It was an amazing moment!
I have seen the "I win" card win once, so far. :-) It definitely is pretty impressive to see.
I never get tired of hearing Sam talk about the time he laid the smackdown on that kid
never gets old :D

We have stand-up moments with Menara almost every time. It's so exciting.
It seems like "push your luck" is a recurring theme for stand up moments, and that make perfect sense to me.
My biggest stand up moments always occur with Blue Moon. You have a great power that your opponent can't win and , suddenly, a mutant a shield or a stupid discard all your support cards appears. I love that moments
Zee, become the wookie you were always meant to be. Everyone makes me laugh, but your timing is impeccable. It kills me. My ribs...
46:38 - THIS was a stand up moment :)
9:18 The funniest Dice Tower moment ever! We’ve had some stand up moments in Thanos Rising where if we made one wrong roll with the Infinity Stone die, we would lose, and we ended up pulling off a win!
Love that moment with Melodys kick xD
Lol the kissing moment with Tom lmfao after he kissed the dice he was like wait what lol, that one and the joker's henchmen at Sam's number 1 was hilarious
Lords of Vegas. Every time. One of the most fun game of all time.
I am really surprised that Tom didn't pick Cosmic Encounter. That was on my personal list. I did however correctly predict him having Pitchcars . Another game on my list that didn't make any of yours was Magic: the Gathering. When you topdeck the only card that can possibly save you!
41:26 Endor is the planet we do not get to see, it's Endor's moon that is in the RotJ.

38:52 - Sam - "Look at my nerdiness as I pick a Star Wars game..."
40:41 - Zee - "Hold my beer..."
Zee's Wookie almost made mall fall off my chair.... :D
First time playing Horrified we were so close to defeat, but we pulled out the victory on a lucky die roll. We all jumped up and cheered.
When are you doing the top 100 games of al times? Sorry for bad english. Greetings from Holland
They have said in other shows the top 100 will be early 2020. Using it to kick off the year if I remember correctly.
I've seen Sam stand up from a table in triumph. PAXU 2017. Demoing the game Human Era. It was pretty great. He probably doesn't remember.
Johnny Dangerously. Man those were the days.
14:19 Why there's a lighter on the table?
At 3:38 Tom rolled a 10 to start off the top 10 list. Crazy
He rolled 2 2 1 for number 5, too.
I get pretty worked up over Yahtzee. Once I rolled a large straight I desperately needed and yelled louder than I thought was reasonable.
Dungeon Fighter is my number 1.
You guys cheer me up :)
Coming Soon! Top Ten Top Ten Lists!
Top Ten list - Games I love but, never win....
Pulling the winning gem out of the bag in Wizard Always Wins
Was that the first time Tom mentioned Project Elite since the Top 100?

Tom without a doubt Ghost Stories is my number 1 when I one it solo...It is my sons go to game and we are yet to win,!!! My other favourite stand up is when I finally one Friday so good
Tom should write a book on investment strategies: Push you luck well past where you should, and trust your gut and go to Vegas.
I hope you do your top 100 before black friday
Zee as wookie.. rapper? :D Gungan traitor voice :D
Never been so entertained by their crazy antics! See this what proper humour is!
Thought Zee would have at least one solo game on his list ... 😉

Why in the world did Sam get away with "Cranial Action" Scott free????? See was bitting his tongue and cheek to not say something.
where is the 'in your face' list?
Note: Implement a Duck, Duck, Goose mechanic into a board game.
i remember one moment with dungeon dice where i was going to win but someone activated a power that he would roll a die and 1 out of 6 i would turn into a frog and stopped me from winning. I dont get this list. A 'stand up moment' in games is when people are standing up in anticipation of something. Most of this list is about standing up in triumph.
