Inauguration Day talk in the EU-Parliament hosted by Lukas Mandl (20.01.2025)

  • The Austrian Member of the European Parliament, Lukas Mandl, hosted a panel discussion in the European Parliament's premises right on the US President's Inauguration Day 2025, January 20th. From New York City connnected online has been Thomas Tödtling, who is heading the NYC-office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Physically present in the European Parliament the panel speakers were Zeljana Zovko, Member of the European Parliament from Croatia and active in the US-Delegation of the EU-Parliament; Christiaan Alting von Geusau, Political Advisor and Professor of Law; Martin Amanshauser, Writer and Journalist and also Mandl himself. Monika Rosen moderated the event. She serves as a Vice President of the Austro-American Association.
    Around a dozen Members of the European Parliament attended the timely discussion. Many interested from around Europe and the world were connected online. In the one-hour-discussion the speakers addressed various issues relevant for Europe with regard to the second term of Donald Trump's presidency of the United States. Especially security and economy, as well as questions of liberal democracy and rule of law were discussed.
