When this vehicle was displayed in the museum, it included parts from the burning car wash and an arch was built above it, to show what calamity it faced during that test.
@@laurencesnee8362 Well something like that after the trio got out, there was footage of the van’s roof falling off and the motors smoking for some reason.

SInce you love long-haul overland vehicles form the 20th century so much, you should do a video on Hammond's car "Oliver" from the Botswana special lol
The first episode that I, an American, ever saw. I don't know if I'd ever laughed as hard before as I did when it caught fire 😂 I was sold on the show ever since!
I never saw a single episode of topgear after the trio left, infact it was the last show I watched on TV so I cancelled my TV tax afterwards, and thankfully youtube is free so I can watch all the best bits
One of my true favorite Top Gear moments this challenge! And they at the end "had actually managed to set fire to something that's basically made of water!" XD
You're all laughing now but back in the late Eighties, Ford (Europe) had the next best thing to this, which was the Ford Econovan XLT Bus. They had been selling a re-badged Mazda van a bit smaller than a Transit as the Econovan, but the XLT Bus version had a raised roof line, a swiveling rear seat and best of all, an electric sun roof of almost a square meter. Of course it had dismal safety (as all vans had back then), dismal ownership costs bc expensive Mazda parts and an engine buried beneath the front seats where it was all but impossible to do any work on it, and also dismal acceleration, being that the turbo-less 2.0L Diesel only put out 54 PS. But it was the best-behaved rear wheel drive vehicle I've ever driven. An absolute blast drifting it around in the snow. And of course an absolute blast to bunk off from school and speed through the city while your drunk mates stood in the sun roof shouting at the townsfolk like so many revolutionaries or what not.
PLEASE upload FULL EPISODES! The people watching this content aren’t (completely) brain rotted… Well, we can sit through full episodes anyway, I promise!
I like that the BBC is re-airing these on youtube. However, please for the love of God keep the original audio in there. Do whatever you can do get them back 😭
James' whole "primates are scarier than big cats" thing is pretty interesting when you consider that some zoos have chimps on the top of the kill list for escaped animals
The BBC had to replace some Music when uploading to RUclips, because said Music was licensed to them for TV Broadcasting only but not for being uploaded to the Internet.
@@itinn1 It would be the other way around, they can use any music for free in the UK, they have to pay for everywhere else. Hence why they change it. It was still probably really cheap to do back when they were first uploading clips to YT but not now.
which one is the most unbelievable: -they enter the lion's enclave in that thing -the lions were uh, having fun when the trio were there -the thing catched fire
I've seen this episode so many times and never realized they were saying Woburn at the animal enclosure, I live in Massachusetts and there's a town within a couple miles of me with the same name definitely stolen from the brits when we came over here 🤣🤣🤣 Reason I didn't notice is we pronounce it Woo-burn not Woah-burn.
When I first saw this episode, and learned that they wanted to make a convertible 'minivan' [as we'd say in the U.S.] my first thought was "Oh, you mean like Inspector Gadget's Gadget Van?"
You know you've watched Top Gear too much and for too long when you notice that a lot of the music dubbing is changed from the original broadcast recording.
That was a skit - they specifically used carwash that would be cheap to fix. Clarkson probably pushed it a bit, but not like the production team did not think home made tent loosely attached to a French car, would actually survive those spinning brushes. Interestingly, that spot still is in operation, now it is called "IMO car wash", located in Bedford.
And when this van was displayed in the museum, it included parts from the car wash after it malfunctioned. And an arch that was made from the parts surrounds the van.

How did the machine catch fire? Was the roof jamming the rollers or something?
