About Him:
The AN-124-100 commercial aircraft has been developed on the basis of the AN-124 “Ruslan” heavy military transport aircraft. It is the biggest serial heavy lifter in the world. It is intended for the transportation of heavy and oversized cargo and various special-purpose vehicles. In 1992, ANTONOV obtained the Type Certificate for the AN-124-100. The aircraft meets the noise level requirements of Part III, Appendix 16, of the ICAO regulations, requirements relating to emissions of aviation engines, accuracy of piloting, flights under conditions of short vertical separation spacing, etc.

An-124 Rusłan jest obecnie trzecim, co wielkości, samolotem transportowym na świecie. Do 2005 roku był drugim, a przed nim był An-225 zresztą jego następca. An 225, ze swoją masą własną rzędu 300 ton i całkowitą 600 ton, detronizowała wszystkie transportowce i duże liniowe samoloty pasażerskie, jakie w ogóle latały w historii lotnictwa. Rusłan zaś z masą własną 195 ton i całkowitą 392 tony był zaraz za An-225. Dopiero na trzecim miejscu była chluba amerykańskich transportowców powietrznych, mający 153 tony masy własnej i 348 ton masy całkowitej - Lockheed C-5 Galaxy. Jednak 27 kwietnia 2005 roku wzniosła się w powietrze inna chluba, tym razem Europy-Airbus A-380, i zepchnęła ze swoich pozycji zarówno Rusłana jak i Galaxy. A-380 waży 276 ton, a jego masa startowa dochodził do 560 ton. Niemniej Rusłan utrzymał się „na podium”, dzierżąc trzecią pozycję, za An-225 i A-380. I tak pozostało aż do dzisiaj.
