This is great timing as we have our tasting in a couple of weeks! We’re really worried it’s going to be bland, but I hadn’t even thought about the service

the only thing that went "wrong" on my wedding was catering... i had a hot buffet. i got married august 2022 and booked all my vendors may/june 2021. i had gone through all possible catering and the company i went with were the only option i had as no others were available on my wedding date.
    1) they used paper plates and wooden cutlery when we had dicussed using china plates and metal cutlery
    2) they didnt bring any serving spoons to dish up the food
    3) the food didnt come out on time
4)the buffet food came out cold (had burgers, chips, hotdogs, pasta salad, potato salad)
    5) the burgers were not cooked properly - at least 5 of my guests that i know of had upset stomachs that evening/next morning
luckily, i booked an ice cream van and it arrived shortly after all guests had gone through the buffet line and everyone "forgot" about the terrible food once they started eating the ice cream. there was lots of food leftover thought as no one went back for seconds (obviously!)
my venue team were lovely though and really lifted my mood.
p.s. the catering team I used had worked at the venue before but the venue team hadnt mentioned any previous issues. on the day, i made it known to the venue staff that i wasnt happy with the catereres and the venue staff agreed. They said going forward they will let future bride/groom know they dont want them to use these caterers.
I did email the catering team after and recieved a small % of a refund

I am SO happy that I found your video! I have a question and a conflict actually. Bear with me:
There are two venues that I love and both had been adverised that they do allow outside catering. However, upon speaking with them, I found out that both will allow outside catering for a high fee. One requires $1500 to use an outside caterer and the second requires $2000. To be honest, I like the second venue more but their partner vendors list are not great. One of them also has really bad reviews in terms of customer service. And the first venue does allow outside catering for sides as long as we still book their in house catering. But the sides cannot be served at the same time as their in-house catering, which makes no sense.
I feel like ripping off the Band-Aid and just paying the money to use an outside catering for the second one although their fees are a little high compared to the first. Do you have any tips or advice on how I can go about negotiating for catering with them?

My fiancée and I come from different cultural backgrounds and being a big part of our personalities, food will be very important. He's got a degree in culinary arts, so his standards are expected to be set high. Ideally our wish would be to design our own menu, consisting of traditional meals from our countries. At this point, should we really hire caterers or go with a chef? We've had conversations about the possibility of hiring 2 different caterers, that would take care of our specific requests. Have you experienced working in a wedding with 2 caterers at once?

My partner and I are planning a cocktail style reception. Do you have any tips on communicating with caterers regarding food service, flow, how many, etc?

Our wedding is July 1st 2023 and we have been looking for castors since June, over 20 suppliers were already booked. I'm wondering if this is a problem a lot of other couples are running into?

Hi. We have the venues own caters, as they are also a hotel and restaurant. What should we be asking them? Also we are having pizza as the evening food, which apparently will be served on demand. What would you suggest please x
